RE: [MMouse]: Philly Thugs
I didn't mind the place that much... TLA is a better location for them, I think. The huge assortment of songs really compensated for the weather and drippy ceiling. The parking had me a bit worried, I think some day I should get an orange vest and charge 10 bucks to let people illegally park in random lots. Oh, Is it just me or is Isaac cleaning himself up? He seems much better behaved now... he drank less, sweated less, rolled around on the floor less... he even was dressed well. hey, you need to understand where i'm coming from; maine. i'm in fucking maine. it's hard enough driving to boston for every concert i want to see, so when the one concert i want to see more than any other is in providence, i get a little frustrated. i like lupo's... i saw my favorite concert ever there a few years ago, but coming out of a concert and then having a 3+ hour drive ahead of you is a little depressing. plus boston is a lot more fun to visit than providence. as for more bands skipping boston in favor of providence; that won't and shouldn't happen. the show at lupos didn't even sell out, while the one in boston at the middle-east earlier this year sold out nearly a month before the fact. - Original Message - From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, September 22, 2000 5:40 PM Subject: [MMouse]: Re: Digest modestmouse.v001.n1186 > > << first of all, i hope modest mouse never plays in providence again > (according > to isaac, it was the first time they'd ever been there), unless they preceed > it or follow it up with a boston show. >> > > the shitheels were supposed to play providence once with the young pioneers, > a long long time ago, after a boston show, but they cancelled it and drove > straight to the worst city in the world. they claimed to have van troubles > but i'm of the opinion thats bullshit. i think they knew they wouldnt get too > many people to see them in providence on a tuesday or whichever weeknight it > was. > and there isnt a venue in boston better than fort thunder, lupos or the met > cafe. except for some warehouse in chinatown where i saw shellac, but i think > that was primarily an art gallery or something like that. more bands should > skip boston in favor of providence until theres someplace better to play. >

RE: [MMouse]: prvidence ri set
I taped the show but I couldn't eliminate all the distortion, it sounds pretty good though. Unfortunately there were two little girls whose mom probably dropped them off for their first show) who wanted to make sure that everyone there knew they knew ALL the words to every song. So you can hear them at times on the recording. It actually sounds pretty hilarious. Two girls SCREAMING the words to "broke" in a distinct massachusetts accent. I laughed my ass off. i will transmit the set list for the 9/21/00 show in RI for posterity, because it's about to slip my mind: (not in order, except the encore) 3rd planet dark center of the universe perfect disguise alone down there lives broke trucker's atlas teeth like god's shoeshine the waydown dramamine doin the cockroach cowboy dan trailer trash - encore - out of gas all nite diner tiny cities made of ash - "i'm a piece-together robot" -

Some fun little Pitchfork insider info for all y'all So, Ryan, the guy who runs Pitchfork, was asking all of us writers what we thought of the new Radiohead, and I told him straight up that I wasn't very impressed by it... Interestingly enough, I was the only Pitchfork writer out of ten surveyed who didn't give the album a "10". I guess my taste sucks... Dany.

the columbus show was modest mouse experience #5 for me... even though it was a good show, i was slightly disappointed. i think i've seen them on better nights... and a few individuals in the columbus crowd get a big thumbs down from me. the t-shirt twirler gets two thumbs down... as does "heather", the girl who crowd surfed her way onstage, only to pull the plug on isaac's guitar while being dragged offstage (we only knew her name because her friends were very congratulatory when she weeded her way back to the front of the stage... she should have been thrown out, forget the stage diving kid). i was pleased to hear talking shit about a pretty sunset and teeth like god's shoeshine. those were personal highlights for myself. i could not hear a word isaac was saying when he spoke... other than the whole, "we'll stop playing if you kick him out," and something about boycotting the newport. -m. >From: Joe Wagner <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: [MMouse]: The Mouse Experience #1 >Date: Sun, 17 Sep 2000 02:01:48 -0400 > >Just got back from my first mouse show here in Columbus. Fuck a bunch of that nonsense. If you want a good party album, just put on Orange by the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, and turn it up really loud, and watch what happens. Jon Spencer is sex. Also nice are the songs "Fuck Martinez" by 2 Live Crew as well as both the Chronic (none of that 2001 shit mind you) by Dr. Dre, or Doggystyle by Snoop. Wow, thanks bro, I will take you up on that offer. I was wondering if you'd gotten a chance to check out Shaq's teammate Kobe's album, which came out earlier this year? If you give the head's up, I'll bypass the new Limp Bizkit and pick up Kobe instead. Sorry, though, I need to hang onto Shaq's albums, I'm in the process of memorizing all of his lyrics which make great pickup lines for chicks. However, I can lend you two of his films, Steel, and Kaazam, where he plays this kickass genie. I know you'd dig it man. Chad "Be like a Shaq-knife, and cut you with precision" P.S. Re: [MMouse]: oh... my... fucking... god.
Vaguely. I'm pretty sure I understand what "fact" is, in theory. As for "opinion"it's a relatively new concept, so rumors continue to circulate as the top minds in our country debate the significance and orgins of this intangible idea tentatively labeled "opinion". Seriously though, that's all I was doing, just giving my opinion on ATDI's new album. But after getting scolded for mine, I thought I'd try a bit of what we call sarcasm (some people call it being a dick, but fuck those buggers, they're lame as a lamb, ba).
