Re: [MSEide-MSEgui-talk] Need or not needed domain for MSE ?

2021-03-12 Thread Roland Chastain
Hello Alexander!

I visited your website and downloaded the /Birthdays/ project. Thank you for
sharing. It's a pleasure to find a new project done with MSEgui.

Since there aren't many users of MSEgui, I think it's important that we stay
connected and share our works and experiences. So please whatever you do
with MSEgui, keep us informed. ;)

For me, until now, I made an improved version of the MSEgui chessboard
example:
https://github.com/rchastain/msegui-chessboard

I would be glad if you would add a link to it (or a local copy of the files)
on your website.

I have many other projects related to MSEgui, but I am progressing slowly.

Regards.

Roland

I don't see the problem - any cloud service is just as susceptible to failures
as a self-hosting server. In recent months we have seen major cloud outages
from Microsoft, Google, Apple etc. Even ISP's can have outages.

The reason I say I don't see a problem with any of them is because when you
clone a git repo, you have a backup of the latest code. It's not a SVN-like
environment that requires a server to function.

I could create a branch with 10 commits and email Fred my patches. Development
continues. So development with Git based projects can continue no matter what.

I personally host many open source and private contracting work repos on my
own server. But I have automated events that publish the open source projects
to both SourceForge.net and Github - simply for convenience and more world-wide
visibility.

Regards,
  Graeme

Hello Alexander.

Sorry, not sure to understand, do you mean that you cannot use last release
of MSE?
If yes, why can you not use MSE ?

There is not only GitHub (Microsoft) that does host git code, there are many
others, like GitLab.
But I agree with you, GitHub, GitLab or whatever may cause problems (like
every server, even paid).

Yes, your site is great and it is very important for MSE to show
applications done with msegui.
If you agree, I may add your MSE projects in the fpc-wiki:

Re: [MSEide-MSEgui-talk] Need or not needed domain for MSE ?

2021-03-12 Thread Alexander via mseide-msegui-talk
Hello Fre;D ,

Yes, I creator of Galaxy Organizer.

First version written on Delphi Win32API.
The next version I planned to do on MSE, but situation with MSE changed.
And I upload old version sources (with new GNU license AGPL) and draft of next
version (DR) written on MSE.

I do not currently problem with GitHub, but such problems periodically arise in
other projects.
And they have to be solved.

Currently Galaxy Organizer packed only in archive, in future to do use GIT.

Now you (all) can up to GIT, fork, repack, use, change code and other free
actions with
GORG32, DR, also Eboot Manager and learning tests generator.
I'm glad you like the GALAXY ORGANIZER. :)

Currently DR very light and can run on bad Radeon driver,
but if add more controls on form occur known xorg bug.
This hinders the development of DR in the full GALAXY ORGANIZER.

So project MSE near with GORG. And may be bidirectional
merged (parts of GORG can be make as MSE components and GORG can be written on
MSE).
Also as whole can merge other projects (Lazarus, ...). And extent to DE and DM
in GNU/Linux.
So and name "Galaxy Organizer" can be used in some situations.

With this actions can occur many of supra enumerate problems and other.

My site does not replace GitHub, but complements it.
For MSE it is more popularity, more reserving, more reliability, more freedoms.

Good Luck,
Alexander.
