today I sent for you a IPO in the value of US$20. I ask that informs me
as
soon as to receive the money. I didn't have the intention of harming
it, and
I made everything certain as we had combined. It happened of the letter
not
to arrive to you, unhappily! Now with IPO everything will be solved. I
hope
our relationship is not harmed by this event, because I like to have
friends
for everyone (mainly of MSX) and it would like of also to be treated as
friend. After all, I went very well assisted by you when I bought it it
Music-module, Moonsound and SCC.

Shipping agency: Pedreira
Number of the IPO:59 526733 5

Thanx for sending the payment, now I can call it a good customer service
:-)!
I´ll mail you when I receive ´em!
BTW can you tell me if you still have NOVAXIS SCSI interfaces in stock?
And what is the price in USD if you have any (I´m curious too of the

Re: MBT

1999-03-25 Thread Gabriel D.

Hi,

From: "MSX Brazilian Team" [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[snip]

"Will it be that is its rage it is because we eliminated you in the cup
of
the soccer world ?" : -)
Nope, It´s not a rage but cool fact that I was displeased with MBTs
service (I have my rights to express my personal opinion)...

Dear Gabriel, have taken care more with the words. " Who hurts with
iron,
with iron it will be hurt. "

We bought with you a moonsound and a cartridge SCC and we don't have to
complain of its procedure that was correct with us. We are that had to
trust
in you, because we sent the money firstly and later you sent us the
products. We sent the money through IPO according to its instruction
and in
agreement with the table of conversion of Danish for Dollar also
following
its instruction. We were surprised when you mentioned us that it lacked
US$20, but in any moment we complained of that. Following its
instruction

Surprised? How can you be surprised when I have clearly explained why I
demanded extra payment. I´m certainly not able to control local increase
of mailing fees, which occur every year.
So it was quite normal that I demanded the extra payment thus it was
more expensive to send the package after mailing prices were increased,
thus the buyer covers all shipping costs.

again, we sent the US$20 for letter in a brown, same envelope being
illegal
to send money this way and thwarting our beginnings, we accepted its
suggestion.

Sending money this way is always on your own risk. If I send money this
way I always count with that the money may get lost. It´s a risk I take
sometimes when I send not so big amounts. But it´s a personal choice and
the responibility is completly the senders.

This was one of the last contacts that had with you and only now are
becoming aware of this offense uttered by its person, what leaves us
deeply
saddened with the fact, because in moment some thought of to harm it or
to
deceive it. I think its accusation is very serious and it forces us we
take
it serious measures, because it commits our services rendered MSX when
doing
such statement. In fact, this is a characteristic of the user of MSX,
the
precipitation.
Accusation?

I have certainly mailed you several times and asked about where did the
payment go, when you have sent it etc.
I have not received ANY responce, not even a question whether the cash
arrived or not nor confirmation of money beeing sent at certain date.
I have e-mailed you with quite big intervals, so even if you had
problems with HD or whatever you should at least have received one
e-mail.
BTW it´s your responisibility to make sure the customer has received the
items/or payment by e-mailing and asking (and certainly in a case when
you know your HD/e-mail stuff isn´t working properly).
This a quite normal procedure. I always ask people to e-mail me when
they receive money/package sent by me, to make sure everythink is OK.

We are we with the documents that prove the shipping of IPO and of the
letter and any person can ask one you copies MBT for compravar that we
are
saying.
This is not a question of sening the first payment, but the extra
mailing costs, so don´t mix em up.

We continued trusting you, that is entitled the whole of doing its
complaint, but we are also entitled the of defending, or you think that
are
you be superior and always with reason. So that Gabriel it is not
harmed, we
will be sending more US$20, of this time for IPO so that it doesn't
happen
more undesirable problems and we waited that it is informed openly by
you
the greeting of IPO, because is making a serious work.

That sounds good, I look forward to receive them, thus if I had received
the extra payment I wouldn´t ever had a reason to mention MBT at all
anywhere.

I take advantage of to inform that of the year passed to I begin it of
this
year our email it moved 2 times and we still had a serious problem with
our
HD, what made us to lose several emails and that besides was informed
in the
Brazilian list of MSX. Therefore it is possible that has happened some
communication problem.

Look above.

I hope to count with its understanding and I am its disposition for any
doubt.
I hope we can clear any doubts, so no hard feelings.

Re: AW: AW: English Snatcher

1999-03-20 Thread Gabriel D.

Hi,

Aren't there much more ways of paying from another country ? I'm not
specialized
in this, but I guess you can also pay by just putting the money on
the
receivers
bank-account...? There must be other ways, as companies and the like
would really
have BIG problems doing business with foreign countries...

Nah that costs (from Holland to err.. Germany for example) 7.50
Euro... Bit
expensive if you buy something of 15 Euro, ain't it??? And you don't
speed
up the delivery...

Yeah, I is expensive to send money abroad. Unless you buy a lot of stuff
at once.

I think it's a little difficult to realize. But also here, I have to
say
that I don't know
too much about these things...

I think some club should become a "Sunrise" in Brazil (Sunrise
Brazil???)
(And now for Sunrise Japan!!!), just distributing all kinds of
products and
ordering them from Holland/Spain in larger quantities.

I think the brazillian hardware should be distributed from Holland and
Spain. It would be easier/faster to buy for people living in Europe.

We don't need "Sunrises" spreaded all over the globe. We need people
who
wants to work seriously with MSX. Last year, I bought a lot of things
with
Gabriel Dabrowski, the "Red Devil" (who lives in Denmark): A Philips
monitor, a Sony HBI-V1 video digitizer, a 4x slotexpander... Lot of
things,
I've spend more than US$ 400 with my MSX (again).

So, I sent the money by IPO, but I didn't know if Gabriel would take
my
money and 'fades out'. And I was right, he's a serious guy, and he sent
all
the things to me. After, he told me that the Danish posting rates had
been
raised, and if I could send more US$ 15 to him. "Yes, sure.". And I
sent.
He was impressed, 'cause I haven't even argued with him. I've just sent
the
rest of the money.

:-) Yes I must agree it was pleasant to do business with you, what I can
say about MBT, who never sent (or at least I never received it) me the
extra payment due to the increased posting rates. I learned that it´s
last time I pull out money out of my pocket and trust people that they
will pay the extra costs. In that case I feel cheated by MSX BRAZILIAN
TEAM and a polish guy who bought my MSX2+, neither of them sent me the
extra payment. NExt time I´ll wait until I have all the money till I
send anything, unless I do business with serious people like Ricardo
Jurczyk :-)

Unfortunately, due to the US dollar high rates, buying things from
foreign
countries had become more difficult 4 us, Brazilians. If we're
dishonest
with another MSXfreaks, it's bad 4 everyone: the buyer, the seller, and
the
MSX community. So, if we want to keep working with MSX, we need be even
more serious, 'cause of the responsability.

Note: My group, the BMC (Brazilian MSX Crew) will be selling the
products
from Ademir Carchano (AdMouse, mini-slotexpander, Mega-SCSI, the ACE
motherboard) soon.

Let me know the prices!

Hi,

Some years ago (1991) I saw a game on a disk from ASCII-magazine
called Sea Sardine. I copied it and finished part one as only part one
was on the disk.

Does anybody have part two? Does anyone know if there even exists a
part
two?

If memory serves SS (side 2) was for MSX2+ and I think I still have it
I can look it up if you wish (I remember vagually that I was looking for
the first SS side1 once long time ago).

Re: English Snatcher

1999-02-26 Thread Gabriel D.

Hi!

From: Ricardo Jurczyk Pinheiro [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

Have you ever take a look at some ZX-Spectrum homepages, specially the
Russian ones? They've done games like Dune 2, Mortal Kombat, Doom and
others to the Speccy. Of course, it's limited by the machine's
capacity.

Hmm? We have certainly GFX9000 which is far beyond possibilities of a ZX
spectrum gfx, so why not use it instead of a plain MSX2 (V9938) ?
Develop good software for GFX9000/MOONSOUND so people finally can se
what they are missing by not buying these cards Only good games /
good software can make people buy it.

So, why not we can remake some games, even from PC and/or PSX, to our
MSXs?

Like ex. Micro Mirror Men (PC Lemmings)? I have seen a promo of it with
MOONSOUND music (When I had MOONSOUND) and it was really cool (though
beta), but it was never finished as many other projecs.
Is NOP still alive? Are they going to resume the project?
A GFX9000 version would offer faster GFX, more colours, better
resolution (interlace without annoying blinking) etc. etc.
Just think about it!!

But please avoid doing versions speciallt 4 GFX9000 and/or Moonsound.

I disagree on that point of view. Our first priority should be GFX9000
and MOONSUND and DOS2 when we are making any games today. Why do you
think people don´t buy GFX9000?

1. Ecenomical problem (Expensive)
2. No games or valuable software = why should I put so much money in it?

If we stick to making only MSX2 games and "set" the limit here, we are
making a huge mistake.
I have read previous messages and seen that poeple are avoiding to make
any software which is DOS1 incompatible. At first this sets limits, next
noone is "forced to" buy DOS2 thus we are making it DOS1 compatible
(even after 11 years!).
The argument with emulators is really weak. Ofcourse emulators should
emulate MSX hardware (dos2) etc. and not opposite.

The same problem we have here. Everything has to be MSX2 native and
eventuat with MOONSOUND/GFX9000 option. The user will never
be "forced" to
see the final advantage (Better sound/Great GFX), if we don´t make any
games requiring these cards. If you see a finished cool product, you
automatically want it. Today there is noone who wish to buy GFX9000 to
play 1 game.
Ofcourse if the developers agree on the fact that there are still many
plain users of MSX2 (without expansions) there can be made MSX2 versions
if possible but make first a version for GFX9000/MOONSOUND.
We must agree on the fact that msx is a hobby and no profit can be made
with it, so why not put all effort to make really good products for
these (new) cards and dorop the crap about backward compatibility which
is actually slowly killing the msx scene as a matter of fact.

Note about Abyss: You know, Abyss is doing that game, XTazy. Nice, but
it
requires GFX9000, Moonsound AND harddisk. So, I think XTazy will be
surely
the best, but also one of the most unpopular MSX game which had ever
been
made. Why? The requirements to run XTazy.
Yes you´ll need a tR too, to run this game. But if more games of this
kind are made for MSX2/(tR) (With G9000/MOONS) people will finally be
forced to upgrade their system to get (and hopefully cool) new games.

So it´s time to move on!

Re: Bar Code Reader

1999-02-10 Thread Gabriel D.

Hi

  Hi,

Maybe the last number is a kind of CRC? In that case, it is only
needed to verify the number that is read, it is not really a part of
 the barcode information.

The last barcode number is a control digit, but, if is missing you
must verify if the 'scanner' configuration is right because don't

Scanner configuration? I doubt if it has any software inside or can be
configured in any way? Has someone any info on that (configuration of
NMS-1170 Bar Code Reader) ? As far I know there is no built-in rom with
software inside. It can be used by reading diectly the ports.

exist ONE barcode standard exist a lot (EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC, small
UPC, 25, 39, etc...). In my graduation project I (my group) made a
supermarket's system, then I learn much about barcodes. I had a small
book about it but I can't plunder it from library. :)

Commomlly, the hardware checks the control digit, but I don't
remember if it is returned for computer.

I've a control digit calculation routine in BASIC (MS-BASIC), I'll
create a version of MSX. Please wait...

I would like to get any information on how to make own bar codes.

I can send my program but it only runs with compatible EPSON 9 pins
  printers...

Uhm.. so it does not perform a screen dump, but sends the data directly
to the printer?

Hi!

SNIP

All ATA(=IDE) or ATApi devices can be connected to the Sunrise IDE
 interface. (HD,CDROM,IDEZIP,LS120FLOPTICAL,...)
BTW is someone working on a driver/IDE rom for LS drives?
no; (I have a tech. manual about the LS120 though)
Let's first make a good ATAPI driver.
Yep, but the possibility of reading 1.44MB floppies on MSX is very
interesting, don´t you think, by using an LS drive?
I know that Henrik Gilvad was testing some LS drives, but I dunno how
far he explored this area? That was quite far ago.
What about the compatibility between the disks. i think of PC/MSX format
are you also working on that. If I´m not wrong the MEGASCSI interface
has some kind of feature that can format ZIPs so they are readable on
PC´s, if I´m not wrong???

Note: the current CDROM utilities delivered with the IDE do only work
with some types of CDROMs due to all different timing schedules around.

What about making a list of these which work and put to The Ultimate
MSX-FAQ?
To ppl. who own a working CD-ROM drive (together with IDE) interface:
Please mail any information of what kind of cd-rom drive you´re using!

PS. Some MSX IDE stuff can be found via: http://www.faq.msxnet.org and
search for the IDE chapter

:-) I see that that the FAQ I started once gets more and more popular!!
Great to hear that ! Thanx to (Quintus aka manuel Bilderbeek) it expands
quite rapidly
BTW ofcourse I have seen the IDE chapter :-), but thanx for the info
anyway 8-)

Greetings from gabriel aka The Red Devil

Just updated a little:
(Added some software to software page)
(Added new advertisement to the MSX 2nd hand shop)

1999-02-09 Thread Gabriel D.

Hi MSX ppl !

I recently bought a philips mousepad (or power-cat (a flat
drawing-board
with a pencil, or what ever its name is !?!) for my MSX.

Now the thing I want to know is, can I use this thing with
art-programms
like: DD-Graph (AGE5), G-Saurus or AGE7/8 !?

Nope

I tried, but it just won't work correctly. Are there any extended
program=
ms
wich I have to use with those art-programms !? TSR or so !

I think the VIDEO GRAPHICS program from PHILIPS does support the graphic
Tablet

Bar Code Reader/ORACLE/GDOS slotexpander etc.....

1999-02-09 Thread Gabriel D.

Hi!

I have few questions regarding a BAR CODE READER from PHILIPS
(NMS-1170/20).
I got this thingie few days ago but unfortunately there was no software
or
manual with it. I wrote a small basic program to read the ports #18, #19
to
obtain the barcode data. It seems to read the barcodez coz the read data
is
equal to the one printed below the barcode, sometimes the last number
is missing
and I didn_t figured yet why?
I would like to get any information on how to make own bar codes.
The bar codes I had tested were only some numbers. Is it possible to
make a
barcode which contains characters A-Z?
I know that there are several programs available for this cartridge but
I havn_t
yet seen any of them. I remember that I had few weeks ago downloaded
some bar code
software from an FTP but it was corrupted, and now I can_t find this
FTP. It_s
probably gone.
So, can someone help me, by e-mailing me some software for it. I_ll put
it on my
web page so other people who have a barcode reader can download it too.
I know that there are 2 versions of the PHILIPS bar code reader the
NMS1170 and
1190. The 2nd one seems to use other ports. Is this the only difference?
I would like to get a program which makes it possible to make own bar
codes and
print them or save as graphic.

I found a piece of software called BARCODE.TSR in FUNET FTP.
It seems to be an MEMMAN TSR which makes possible to use the BCR in DOS2
and BASIC

It has some commands like:

_b:]
_h:]
_dir /w]
_dir /p]
_dir /h]
_dir prn]
_dir /w prn]
_dir /p/h]
_xdir *.*]
_xdir b:*.*]
_copy *.* b:]
_copy *.* h:]
_copy b:*.* h:]
_copy b:*.* a:]
_copy h:*.* a:]
_xcopy a:*.* b: /e /s
_xcopy a:*.* h: /e /s
_xcopy h:*.* a: /e /s
_format a:]
_format b:]
_chkdsk /f]
_ramdisk 4064/d]
_ramdisk 0/d]
_del a:*.*]
_del b:*.*]
_tv]
_cmd tv]
_tk "Barcode/dos2"]
_cd \]
_ted]
_cd ..]
_cd \utils]
_cd \tsr]
_tp]
_print /c /d /i64]
_call system]
__system("autoexec")]
_basic]
_basic autoexec.bas]
_files,l]
_files "h:",l]
_files "b:",l]
_call chdir("\")]
_call ramdisk(0)]
_call ramdisk(4064)]
_call chdrv("b:")]
_call chdrv("h:")]
_call chdrv("a:")]
_cmd clear printbuf 0
_cmd clear ?buf 64]
_print attr$ fre ?buf

I_m wondering how it works? My guess is that by scanning a barcode a
specified
command is executed in dos2 or basic. But how to make the barcodes which
activate
the commands in this program?
Has anyone further info on who made this program or any manual for it?

Has someone got the developers package for memman tsr by MST? Is it
still
available somewhere?

And I would like to see a copy or scan of the NMS-1170/20 manual :-).

---
I received lately ORACLE V1.10 - the music program from FUZZY logic.
Does someone know if it works on a sony 700, without problems?
I_m just wondering if it_s the program that is buggy, coz it will not
start on my
sony700. It starts with loading. Prints some info about it installs
MIDAS debugger
and then returns to basic??
There is written something about ORACLE in one of the latests HNOSTAR
magazines, it
mentions at least SONY700 and ORACLE. Unfortunately I didn_t figure what
it says.
Can anyone translate it for me?
---
I was thinking about buying the GDOS 4x slotexpander. As far I know it
does use
the MSX_s internal PSU. I_m just wondering if my SONY700 will not blow
up with 4 cartridges connected to it? It seems to be working with a
PHILIPS NMS
8245 but has anyone used it with luck on a sony 700? My intention is to
connect an
FM-PAC, MSX-AUDIO, (IDE-INTERFACE), and a 4th card at once. Normally the
slot
expanders do have an external PSU connector so the computer isn_t
overloaded, but
this one seems to be ONLY powered by the MSX.
---
I got lately a program called MAGIC MUSIC MODULE PROFESSIONAL for
MSX-AUDIO.
Has someone got any MUSIC data for it? Please mail it to me:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
---

That_s all folks, hope to get some answers :-).

Re: IDE-ATAPI Iomega ZIP with SUNRISE IDE interface ?

1999-02-09 Thread Gabriel D.

Does someone know if the Sunrise IDE interface is able to
control the new IDE-ATAPI ZIP drive ?

it is able to control it, but it requires some extra software that
isn't
completely finished yet.

Who is making it? Is it a kind of MSXCDEX for ZIP drive or is the
ROM of IDE interface rewritten/modified ?
All ATA(=IDE) or ATApi devices can be connected to the Sunrise IDE
interface. (HD,CDROM,IDEZIP,LS120FLOPTICAL,...)
BTW is someone working on a driver/IDE rom for LS drives?

Gretz, Gabriel

Some questions about MSX hardware...

1999-02-09 Thread Gabriel D.

Hi MSX freaks!

I have 2 questions for you:

1. I´m wondering how is the SRAM memory of Panasonic FM-PAC kept alive?
Is there a battery (rechargeable?) inside ?
I just don´t dare to splity my cartridge to check :-)

2. What is the difference between SONY HB-G900 and HB-F900 (except
white/black colour, 64KB/256KB RAM) ?
