There's a new option added in 5.0.13: -R (--routines) It's designed designed specifically to dump SPROCs and FUNCTIONs. I thought it would have been turned on by default but I guess it wasn't. Well Shawn, First of thanks for the quick result. I tried your suggestion but it didn't help no sp and no restore. It only shrinked the backup file (by deleting the cr). It is simply a SQL script that will create all of the "elements" of the database and populate them with data (if you had any). My suspicion is that you have something that isn't quoted that needed to be. mysqldump has several options. You can see them with the command: mysqldump --help -or- refer to the manual http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/mysqldump.html try dumping your database again, this time use the -r= and -Q options. That does two things: a) it avoids adding CR characters at the end of every line b) it puts backticks around EVERYTHING that needs them (table names, column names, etc) mysqldump -uroot -pmypassword -r backup.sql -Q dbname Shawn Green Database Administrator Unimin Corporation - Spruce Pine

urgent : PLEASE HELP - problems with back up and restore
Hi, I'm really desperate on this on. After struggling with some really weird bugs I finally finished my project. Buut I can't perform a good backup and restore. I'm using : MySql 5.0.16-nt (essentials version) Windows xp The DB contains tables, vw's and sp's. It is a very small one and at the moment I don't have any data inside. The whole backup file size is 100Kb. 1. I backed up my db using mysql administrator. It created a back up file with all tables, views and sp's, but when I tried a restore it got errors like. "Could not handle this statement etc. 2. I tried : mysqldump -uroot -pmypassword dbname > backup.sql And then mysqldump -uroot -pmypassword newDbName < backup.sql I didn't get any error. The shell printed to the screen the backup file completely only without the table script part. It Created a backup file only for the tables (why ? a minute ago I did the backup with the same tool). But after restoring, the new db was still empty. 3. I tried to restore with mysql > -uroot -pmypassword newDbName < backup.sql But I got the same results. It should be a very simple and basic issue. Why everything is so hard with mysql ? Is there any really good and quick forum for mySql ? I posted some new thread in mysql.com at the past few days but never got answered. Is it just me or that's the life on the mysql planet ? I now try this mailing-list. I hope you can help me. Thanks in advance Barak
Possible? Urgent please.
Using OpenRowSet Transact SQL, I want to view/obtain data from MySql using this function in "MS SQL Query Analyzer". Can I do this at all? Innodb querry optimizer suddenly making TERRIBLE choices? Urgent, Please help!
I'm in a bit of a tough spot -- My innodb table of WebActionLogs (which has 1 million rows spread out over the last year and a half) has suddenly stopped using 'TimeInitiated' to select only the last 24 hours of data (usually less than 7,500 rows), and now wants to copy all 1 million rows to a temporary table no matter what I do!I tried adding a 'USE INDEX (TimeInitiated_ind)', it STILL does the longest possible query by copying everything to a temporary table first. Suddenly hundreds of queries that were working fine yesterday and ran under 0.1 seconds are taking 40 to 50 seconds and ending up in the slow query log. This has been working fine for months. Is there a way to FORCE innodb to use the index whethere it thinks it's faster or not? I know it will be 400x faster if it does but USE INDEX apparently has no effect. I ran a 'check table WebActionLogs' which sait it was OK. I had a similar problem when this table was Myisam that was fixed by 'Analyze'ing it but that's not an available option for Innodb. mysql> explain SELECT DISTINCT UserName FROM WebActionLogs USE INDEX (TimeInitiated_ind) WHERE TimeInitiated > NOW() - INTERVAL 24 HOUR AND TimeInitiated < NOW() + INTERVAL 300 SECOND AND Id = 'xx.xx.44.17_3338_1039529682539_1248'; +--+---+---+--+-+--+ -++ | table| type | possible_keys | key | key_len | ref | rows| Extra | +--+---+---+--+-+--+ -++ | WebActionLogs| index | TimeInitiated_ind | UserName_idx | 31 | NULL | 1026114 | where used | If I remove the DISTINCT, no index is used!!! mysql> explain SELECT UserTelephoneNumber FROM CallMeBackLogs -> USE INDEX (TimeInitiated_ind) -> WHERE TimeInitiated > NOW() - INTERVAL 24 HOUR -> AND TimeInitiated < NOW() + INTERVAL 300 SECOND -> AND Guid = 'xx.xx.44.17_3338_1039529682539_1248'; +--+--+---+--+-+--+- ++ | table| type | possible_keys | key | key_len | ref | rows | Extra | +--+--+---+--+-+--+- ++ | WebActionLogs| ALL | TimeInitiated_ind | NULL |NULL | NULL | 1081857 | where used | +-+ | VERSION() | +-+ | 3.23.51-log | +-+ Thanks in advance for any clues! Re: Urgent: Please look at this error
It looks like you don't have a path to that library. Once you find the true location of libpthread.so, add that directory path to the file /etc/ld.conf. After that is done, run: ldconfig -v as root and try again. On Wed, 2002-03-20 at 09:13, Amrita Basu wrote: > Hi, I am using Redhat 6.2 kernel 2.2.20 and am getting > this error below. Well, that's the problem. It is usually (not only with MySQL) a good idea to block resources as short as possible. The suggested program doesn't do that. Even if the connection is idle, it blocks a connection. > and if you even use 3 connection for program , if max sleep process > is limited to 90 (due to your hardware configuration , but even if > you use 1 gb ram it is limited to max 120) that means maximum 30 > user will be execute your program. Well, but 150 concurrent connections may not be a problem even for NT *eg*. So, as said above, I suggest you check out the appropriate NT resources how to change the process limit (in hope that this is really the wall you hit, but it sounds so). No. Your process is only limited by your OS. E.g. Linux defaults to a limit of 256 sockets per process. One of my servers delivers about 5.000.000 queries (300.000 web hits) a day with only 10-20 concurrent connections. (Not, that there is no need for hundreds of connections in some applications, but most time you don't need so much).
