[mythtv-users] Playing MPEG2 nuv files under windows

2005-06-23 Thread Michael Anthon
What do people suggest for playing an MPEG2 nuv file under windows. The
file is recorded in TS mode from a DVB card.

I find that I can play these using Nero Showtime but not with WMP or
VLC. This is fine for my desktop but my wife wants to watch some stuff
on her (work) laptop that has WMP only. I definitely can't install
Showtime on there (because it refuses to install unless the machine
contains a suitable CD/DVD burner since it was bundled with my burner).

The odd thing is that I was able to dump a video stream using the
following...

dvbstream -qam 64 -cr 3_4 -gi 16 -bw 7 -tm 8 -f 191625 -ps -o 513 660 test.mpg

This stream was playable in WMP and VLC but not in Showtime! This video
stuff is all rather confusing.

I have also tried to transcode to mpeg4. This is playable then in WMP
but I don't really wish to transcode since the backend machine is only a
celeron 466, the transcode speed is somewhat abysmal.

Any suggestions on how to proceed greatly appreciated.

Re: [mythtv-users] bigger fonts please

2005-06-23 Thread Egeekial
I don't think so. I believe I have tried changing the fonts with
different themes to no avail.

I am also currently using 100dip fonts, and I can tell that MythCenter
wasn't quite made for the larger fonts. Most things look fine, though.

Phill Edwards wrote:

options in the Myth config? You can set the point sizes for small, medium,
and large fonts. On my machine, changing those has never done anything and I
don't know why. That's why I eventually used the dpi hack method.

From reading the other messages, it seems that most people try changing the

font sizes first, then fall back to changing the dpi when that doesn't work.

So... what's wrong? Why don't the font items in the config menu change
anything? Does it have to do with the environment? I'm running Myth on a
Debian machine using AfterStep as my WM. Aside from font issues, I haven't
had any problems at all.

I agree. I tried changing the font size in setup and it didn't appear
to make any difference to anything. I'm using the MythCenter theme if
that makes any difference. Maybe it's a theme support thang?

I have been trying to use VLC. It works fine for some channels in Finland,
but some are missing sound (problematic channels are those that are using
DVB subtitling, but I don't know if it is related to this at all).

I have both Freevo and mythtv installed. If I record with Freevo, VLC works
OK for all channels (even dvb subtitles work !). So there must still be
something
wrong in mythtv TS recording mode.

If you don't need dbv subtitles you could try mplayer on windows. It is not
so picky about mpeg correctless as VLC.

Further to this I've been thinking and researching a little about doing
a streaming type setup to play the files. It's trivial to set up a web
download for the files but none of the players I have tried will start
playing before the file is fully downloaded. On the other hand,
accessing via a samba share works well and they do start to play almost
immediately.

It would be easy to modify the mythweb recorded programs page to
include a link to a properly streamed version of the file but has anyone
set this up before? I suspect something like icecast or darwin
streaming server might be the go but is there some better alternatives?

[mythtv-users] Choppy audio repeating after exiting from Live TV

2005-06-23 Thread Deepakumar JV

Hello friends,

I am having this problem with choppy audio (about 1 sec duration)
repeating for about 5 to 7 seconds when i exit the Live TV. This happens
only when i exit Live TV and except that it works fine. With logging
enabled for mythfrontend it says killing the audio output loop. I have
tried enabling / disablling the extra audio buffer in mythtv-setup but
it doesn't make any difference. This problem doesn't appear when i exit
from playing mythvideo it happens only with Live TV.

hardware config:
Dual PII 450 Mhz
Nvidia NV25GL [Quadro4 900 XGL] (rev a3)
LSI Logic / Symbios Logic 53c875 - ROOT partition
Adaptec AHA-2940U/UW/D / AIC-7881U - myth cache partition
ES18xx audio
PVR 350 (i am not using TV-OUT)

Software:
Gentoo 2.6.11-r11
All software with emerge (followed the gentoo guide
(http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Setup_MythTV)

MythTV 18.1 (from emerge)
ivtv-0.2.0_rc3-r4 (from emerge)

In the same hardware with Knoppmyth R5A15.1 this problem doesn't exist
which make me think that its related to some settings. What am i missing?

Any suggestions as to what could be the problem?

Thanks in advance

VLC works if you copy-paste url from mythweb to vlc's http url field.
It starts to play instantly. Also mplayer works this way. Just don't click

Re: [mythtv-users] Lirc doesn't work

2005-06-23 Thread David Watkins
Yes - modules are loaded. If I point the StreamZap at the IR receiver
irw gives me info. If I point the Hauppage at the IR receiver irw
 prints nothing.

Please be aware that I'm very green with this stuff so possibly I'm
not doing something right, but that's what I see.

If you're not sure about your lircd.conf file you could look at the
remotes.tar.bz2 file here:

http://www.lirc.org/index.html

This contains a whole bunch of lircd.conf files, one of which is a
generic RC-5 one which, if I understand correctly contains all the
RC-5 codes (PVR350 uses RC5).

What I did, when I wanted to use a universal remote with my Hauppauge
PVR350 was:

1. use the above file as my /etc/lircd.conf

2. run irw

3. press each key on my remote and note the keycode generated by irw.

4. where different keys gave the same code then I remap one of them to
an unused code.

5. modify the lircd.conf example supplied by Jarod in his univeral
remote howto to use the button names on my remote and the codes
generated by irw.

http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/remotes.php

6. modified Jarod's lircrc example to use the button names used in my
new lircd.conf file.

Hope this helps, and many thanks to Jarod for providing the clues to
this process in his excellent site.

On my machine mpeg2 recordings are 2 gigs per hour and mpeg4 ones are a
third of that so I can guess the format from the filesize.

Ah, didn't know about U key. Yes, this lets me guess whether I
transcoded or not, so it's justa matter of two extra key presses, I
can live with that.

I guess this means that the file size information must be accessible
to the GUI after all.

I took a quick look at the code, possibly too quick, and it seems that
all the info displayed in the program details dialog comes from the
ProgramInfo class. It gets all its information from the database and
recording type isn't currently stored there so it would have to be
added which sounds like a major minor change (eg, small changes in many
places). Alternatively, the recording file itself could be examined but
since every other bit of data supplied by ProgramInfo comes from the
database hitting the filesystem might be an architectural no no. For
one thing if the frontend uses that class it would have to have access
to the recordings directory which is optional right now.

But, I'm speculating way too much from one quick look at the code. I'd
 use the U key!

For starters (to give myself something to be happy about while I

While JP1 is cool, the remote is considerably more capable that the
manual would let you believe, even without JP1. Check out
http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/, go to codes and advanced codes
sections, the codes for your receiver might be there. I found codes
for my Tivo, didn't have to program a thing.

I learned the volume keys to my audio receiver (a DVD
home-theater-in-a-box), but noticed that I can't just hold down the
volume key on the remote control. To get more than one tick of
volume adjustment, I have to repeatedly press and release the RS
 15-2116 volume key (e.g., I can't just hold down the 15-2116 volume
key for a big volume adjustment).

Is this normal? Is there a trick to being able to just hold down the
volume key and have it work? This happens whether I'm in My System
 mode or DVD mode.

The stock audio receiver remote control allows me to hold down the
 button.

It's not how my 15-2116 works, and it's not how most remotes work, so
I'd guess not normal. But if the regular audio receiver volume works
normally, then all you need is to enable volume lock (it forces volume
key to operate in one mode even when remote is in other modes) or use
keymover to copy volume keys from receiver mode to dvd mode.

I had the opposite problem. With the MythCentre theme my fonts were
too big so Manage Recordings, for example, appeared as Manage.

I fixed it by editing the menu xml files for that theme. Can't
remember exactly where they were (somewhere in ~/.mythtv/ I think) and
not sure if it works for all themes but you might be lucky.

I never got DisplaySize to have any affect, maybe because I'm using a

Hi, I created MythCenter and intended it to work with the Trebuchet MS

MythTV font sizes to default values (small:12,medium:16,large:25). I
didn't set any dpi settings in my xorg.conf, so with all these defaults,

Ok, so it looks like I misdiagnosed the problem. I just ripped all
the cards out of my box, and just used the onboard audio, this way I
can completely eliminate IRQ conflicts, whatever.

So, it seems that it's actually the saa7134 card that is giving me the
trouble, not the audio card.

I have tried a plethora of combinations of card= and tuner= from the
Documentation from my kernel, but nothing seems to give me any audio.
However, when I view the card with xawtv, I get both audio and video.
If I plug my speakers directly into the audio-out jack on the Tuner
card, I get audio while it's playing in mythtv...

I really haven't got a clue what might be going on here, any
suggestions are extremely welcome.

I've pulled the card, and here are numbers if anyone cares:

On the tuner itself it says:
Easy TV Capture
Then there are 8 boxes (well 9, but the 9th isn't directly below the
above line, but it's for FM radio) for different TV standards. The
NTSC box is blackened (I live in the US, so that's good ;) ) Then
there is a picture of a cartoon looking TV with the letters TV in the
middle.

The chip says:

Then, a sticker on the back says:

Then a barcode, followed with:

[mythtv-users] AutoExpireDefault in settings table

2005-06-23 Thread Mercury Morris
The Question: Can I add AutoExpireDefault to the settings table in
mythconverge ?

The background: Comparing two separate MythTV systems' settings tables,
the older system built in 2004 has AutoExpireDefault in the database.

The newer system, built fresh this month, does not have AutoExpireDefault.
This post to the Dev List, may explain why there is a difference between the
two systems' databases:

http://gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/dev/135957?search_string=AutoExpireDefault;#135957

I used phpMyAdmin to compare the two settings tables and discovered
the AutoExpireDefault difference (among other differences, of course).

On the newer system, it is quite annoying to set AutoExpire for each
program to be recorded. On the older system, AutoExpire is always
set for programs to be recorded.

If it is possible to add AutoExpireDefault to the settings table, WITHOUT
disabling/destroying the database, could it be done with phpMyAdmin,
or from the command line, or some other way ?

Any recommendations would be most welcome.

The PVR500 is supported by the ivtv driver. Hop on over to the ivtv
mailing list / wiki and you will find lots of info.

Its not yet fully easy going, so some effort likely to be needed.

[mythtv-users] Playback vid corruption with 1080i (with pics)

2005-06-23 Thread Glen Dragon
I'm still seeing the problem that I reported a week or so ago. I took
some pictures to show the effect. Hopefully someone knows something.
Interestingly enough it is also causing the same effect on the OSD.

Pics: http://www.jetcom.org/gallery/dragon-myth
(There is some bluring due to difficulties in taking the picture, as I
didn't have the tripod around. It really does look like that tho)

I've tried different nvidia drivers (7664, 7167, 6629) no difference.
I'm not sure what else to try.

-original post---

I see wierd horizontal striping every 1/2 an inch or so. There is a
jagged green area on the left (and covering parts of the picture). It
sort of makes the picture shimmer. It's semi-watchable if you can
ignore the effect (aka it doens't obstruct the picture).

This only appears on my NBC broadcasts (and PBS too i think). I think
this means it's on 1080i broadcasts. Fox ABC are crystal clear. I
don't get CBS right now. I believe that it also appears on upconvered
material, ie the news was the same way last night. I only see it on
one of my frontend which happens to have an amd64 using 64bit gentoo.
So I'm assuming that it has something to do with that. I'm also
assuming that it's related to the fact that he signal is interlaced.
The recording itself is fine, ie I can play it upstairs on a different
frontend.

The machine is an AMD64 3500+, nvidia fx5300 connected DVI to a 2005FPW
flat panel. I have also had this problem connected to a 50+ rp-lcd tv.
I have tried various combinations of opengl vsync and various deints
(kernel/bob). Not using xvmc (never got it to work on this machine),
processor utilization is ~50-60%

This *has* worked beautifully before. I don't know why/how it has
changed. At one point I believed that it was mmx related, but now it
seems to be independent. I have tried actively disabling mmx in the
config. The only thing this now accomplishes is to increase my cpu util
90-100%. I've seen this effect using various cvs builds on this
machine since before 0.18

It's not how my 15-2116 works, and it's not how most remotes work, so
I'd guess not normal. But if the regular audio receiver volume works
normally, then all you need is to enable volume lock (it forces volume
key to operate in one mode even when remote is in other modes) or use
keymover to copy volume keys from receiver mode to dvd mode.

I've been a victim of owning several AV receivers and remotes. For me
I find the norm is more like Robert describes. Holding down the
volume key on the remote continuously lowers or raises the volume
until the key is released. I also own the 639 Harmony remote and can
confirm the volume key works the same.

I've had remotes like the 15-2116 as well where holding down the key
sends only one IR code instead of sending a repeating IR code. Having
not owned the 15-2116 I'm assuming that's what is happening.

Deinterlacing is clearly not working in these pictures. The stripes are
so wide because something (probably your video card) is scaling the
pictures to a resolution less than 1080 lines high. Double-check you
have deinterlacing enabled, and check the output from 'mythfrontend
--verbose playback'. Also note that bob deinterlacing is disabled if
you're playing at a speed other than 1x.

heh no your theme is off by a little (or a lot depending) on your DPI,
things will over lap, text will be cut off, etc. All themes are
supposed to be done using a 100dpi display to ensure consistent
appearance across all systems. Not being at 100dpi when you build you

I've tried this and noticed that it also calls RTJPEG files data
too. Bit of a pain that as I want to compare RTJPEG files vs MPEG4

Also, re the other poster's U command, this has a different function

Connecting TV via S-Video gives wrong colors and 16 colors depth

When I had this option flagged, it was like watching a photo-negative. People
with blue skin was the biggest problem. Turning the option off, then
restarting X (Ctrl+Alt+Backspace) solved it for me.

Of course, this is only if the problem happens while watching video inside
mythfrontend.

There aren't any real details save what you can find in the developers

The newer system, built fresh this month, does not have

I just added it manually to the database (mysql, phpadmin, etc. are
all fine). The rest of the source code still honors the setting (if
present in the database); it's just that the UI was removed from
mythfrontend setup (for some still-unknown reason).

Thanks, Rob, that's very reassuring. I mean the fact that you already

It's still a mystery why no one has responded to your post in

[mythtv-users] Problem: Mythfrontend thinks there are no recordings

2005-06-23 Thread Tommy Adkins
A very strange thing just happened to my MythTV setup. All of a sudden, when attempting to view the listing of recorded shows, mythfrontend reports
Sorry, there are no recordings. It worked fine a few days ago when I watched a new recording. Then I went away for the weekend and when I came back, this happened.

My setup:
Myth .18.1 from apt-get repositories
Fedora Core 3
Installed using Jarod's guide

Here is what I've tried:

- I can use MythWeb to list them, and even delete them.
- Nuvexport sees them and allows me to convert them.
- The files exist in the /var/mythtv folder.
- An experience Linux friend of mine used Ethereal to sniff the traffic between
the frontend and the backend, but it looks like they are talking.
- There are no error messages in the console window even when running if very
verbose mode.
- Backend log reports nothing.
- I've restarted both frontend and backend and then rebooted and still no luck.
- Deleted all shows from the recorded table except one show that I've had in
there for about 1 year and it still says the same thing.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions for troubleshooting this
one? I am desperate here!

Thanks,
Tommy

OK I will create the MythCenter v2 despite the upcoming themeing
engine, but such knowledge as you mentioned here is very useful. Where
can I find a comprehensive documentation about theme creation? I found
some things here and there, but nothing seems to cover every aspect. In
the most hypothetical situation I want to put out a theme, an osd

against new theme engines and what not, so some efficient coding would
be nice. BTW, do you know how to implement a running clock (like the

- Not running NFS. I think it is called ext3/extended3.
- Frontend, backend, and mythweb are all on the same box.
- I've tried running frontend as root and same problem.
- I can watch Live TV.
- I can view upcoming recordings and past recordings from the frontend

Any other thoughts? Should I look at the source code to see the query

Re: [mythtv-users] Big fat blue bar with Internal player

2005-06-23 Thread James Oltman
So does everyone think I am crazy?

I think this is a problem with the nvidia driver. The default color
for the video overlay is blue so it outputs blue for resolutions that
do not take up the whole screen. You have to use the xvattr command
to set the overlay color to black:

  xvattr -a XV_COLORKEY -v 0

You may have to install xvattr.

I'm not sure I'd call it a problem with the NVIDIA driver. Usually,
when a driver causes hardware to do exactly what the software requests,
 that's not considered a problem. ;)

Xv--the X Windows Video Extension--is built around the idea that a video
area is defined by using a specific color, the color key. Any pixels on
screen that were painted that color are replaced with the appropriate
colors for the video being played. This allows Xv to use the hardware
to do a color replacement (think green-screens as used in movie
making) which is much faster than having to determine the appropriate
boundaries for the video using valid/invalid flags, clipping, etc.

So, why is the default color key an unusal and very unappealing
blue-green color that's never used anywhere? Well, exactly /because/
it's an unusual, unappealing color that's never used anywhere. If you
set the color key to 0 (black) as shown above and put an xterm terminal
window with black foreground on top of the video while it's playing, you
might notice the video appearing in the black behind the words (or at
least within the cursor and scrollbars--antialiased text may prevent it
from showing through the words). Or, start a terminal with xterm -bg
black -fg white and you can hack your Myth code right on top of TV (a
true lightweight transparent window--all handled in hardware unlike
aterm/eterm/etc.). By using a color that's not ever used, this
accidental replacement never occurs. The valid range of values for
the colorkey is 0 through 2147483615, so my recommendation is to pick
something close to--but not equal to--0, such as 10 or 30 or even 1 (all
of which are only likely to be used for the occasional pixel in
 antialiased text).

Since MythTV is likely to be used such that there are never windows on
top of the video, using a color key of 0 is not a problem, but on your
desktop it's likely to cause some unusal (disconcerting?/strangely
appealing?) effects you might not expect. And, since human eyes can't
distinguish between 0 and 10, you might as well choose something
appropriate that won't be a problem anywhere.

Just wanted to ensure blame doesn't go misplaced. I'll admit NVIDIA has
some work to do on their drivers--but not here. :)

The two are not mututally exclusive. However that's a read herring
since the software doesn't check to see if the file exists before
showing it to you in the list. However, using ext3 for storing your
recordings is a bad idea. xfs, jfs or Reiser is a much better choice.

 [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# cat /dev/video0 /tmp/test.mpg

 But it's not in use.

Don't know abuot this part. I haven't tried that. If a 250 isn't a

I switched to ivtv-0.3.6p in the last couple of days. At least a 250

The two are not mututally exclusive. However that's a read herring
since the software doesn't check to see if the file exists before
showing it to you in the list. However, using ext3 for storing your
recordings is a bad idea. xfs, jfs or Reiser is a much better choice.

Any other thoughts? Should I look at the source code to see the query
that is used to retrieve the show names in case it joins other tables to
the 'recorded' table. Remember I deleted all records from that table
but one good one. This was in case a show name/info had some special
characters. It worked on a Thursday. Recorded some shows over the
weekend. Then I tried to watch them on Monday. Then BAM, this happened!

Check to see what recording group you're viewing by hitting the MENU

I'll consider changing the file system during my next OS upgrade.
Problem is you have to move your shows to another storage device in the

I presume you have a single-channel DVI. It almost looks to me like

Deinterlacing is clearly not working in these pictures. The stripes are
so wide because something (probably your video card) is scaling the
pictures to a resolution less than 1080 lines high. Double-check you
have deinterlacing enabled, and check the output from 'mythfrontend

you're playing at a speed other than 1x.

Doug is right on. That is classic when resizing non-deinterlaced
content. You can also see this problem if your filter chain is in the
wrong order, and you resize *before* deinterlacing. You should always
de-interlace prior to resizing.

2005-06-23 Thread EC
Hmmm, on my distribution (gentoo), at least, the coldplug scripts use a
slightly different vendor id than the hotplug scripts (coldplug has a
leading 0). I don't know if it's a kernel issue, a module loading order
issue, or a cold/hot plug issue.

I just tweaked the /etc/hotplug/usb/wis-ezusb (supplied by plextor)
script to accept either, and everything (ie device cold, computer cold;
device hot, computer cold; device cold, computer hot; and device hot,
computer hot) works.

Here is a quick patch for the wis-ezusb that works for me (YMMV).
Just copy it to the directory:/etc/hotplug/usb (or wherever your hotplug
usb vendor scripts live), and do patch PATCH_FILE. It's a pretty
trivial change (adds just 3 characters).

For now, I just navigate my way through the menus, but it takes
too many keystrokes to delete something. I plan to code something
up to allow configuration of the the default Delete selection
(Yes + Re-record, Yes, No), but I'd still like to hit D

Any ideas from other 15-2116 owners?

I'm not a 15-2116 owner, but on my JP1 remote I created a macro for
delete. It hits escape, then right, then up (This gets you to the
delete selection), then right and then up again. This leaves me at
the delete recording prompt. I could get it to press right one more
time and it would do exactly what you are asking. May be a long way
around, but it doesn't require me programming another button I can't
 remember where I put.

Umm, so to what button did you assign that macro? :)

FWIW, I don't think you need to program a macro for delete; you can
just program the D keystroke and get the same effect (more flexibly,
because you can also hit D in the Watch Recordings screen, whereas
I think your macro only applies when you're actually watching
something, and can't be used in the Watch Recordings screen).

So yeah, this was more a 15-2116-specific question, since it doesn't
have a WAF-fy Clear or Delete button anywhere like the TiVo
remote.

Doug is right on. That is classic when resizing non-deinterlaced
content. You can also see this problem if your filter chain is in the
wrong order, and you resize *before* deinterlacing. You should always
de-interlace prior to resizing.
John

Hmm.. I am using kernel deinterlacing. Or at least thats what I
specify in the menu. I don't have any other exotic filters or
anything. I am playing at a 1x speed (normally) The display is
outputing onto a lcd flat panel at 1680x1050, the native resolution of
the display. I have Xorg setup to do this resolution.

I don't know how I would re-arrange the filter chain. Is this
configurable somewhere? I assume that X is doing the scaling from the
1920x1080 to the 1680x1050. Is this correct? If myth is doing the
de-int, it should be taking place before the scaling right?

I will post the output of -v playback when I get home. Anything else I
should enable?

Isn't the 1920x1080i signal pushing the limits of what DVI can handle?
I presume you have a single-channel DVI. It almost looks to me like
the set is on the hairy edge of sync with that signal. The 720p
signals push slightly less information, which could explain why the ABC
broadcasts work.
I don't suppose the set has a VGA input for comparison? (Some do, like
my old-tech Pioneer RPTV with quaint CRT technology.)

I am using a dual-channel DVI cable from pacific cable. I am only
running at a resolution of 1680x1050. It does have a VGA input. I can
try it out, tho it'd require moving things around.

If I go back to a new install of Fedora Core 1 , what kind of challenges will I face with the
apt-repositories and is there a HOW TO still available to point me to the
proper files?

I am using a PIII 1.0 Celeron with a gig of Ram and a via chipset.

If I go back to a new install of Fedora Core 1 , what kind of challenges
will I face with the apt-repositories and is there a HOW TO still available

since MythTV has evolved a lot since any of the FC1 docs were written
or maintained, I would suspect that any FC1 HOWTOs would be quite
dated and would require a fair degree of interpretation.

I'm happily still on FC1 (although I've updated so many packages from
source now that it's hardly FC1 anymore). I see very infrequent
package updates for FC1 in general, and if I were building a new box
from scratch, I'd definitely use a more recent and actively supported
distribution as my base.

If my FC1 mythtv box imploded tonight and I had to start from
scratch..., at the moment, I'd use Ubuntu, but... I'd estimate that
building mythtv on FC3 at the moment is probably the path of least
resistance.

Have you thought about trying to *FIX* whatever your issues are in
your current mythtv setup? That actually might be a lot less work than
a reinstall, and you'll learn a lot, too.

Very nice! I really like this color scheme.

I personally like to use the short date format which includes the Day of
Week. In min2.jpg it looks like using that format would cause an overlap.
The problem also exists with the Titivillus theme, and I have a three line
patch which give me just enough room to squeeze the Day of Week in there.
Since no one else complains about that, I guess no one else likes the Day of
Week to show on that screen. I have no problem continuing to patch the
theme whenever I do a new install. I just though I would bring it up in
case you wanted to allow for that format.

 What can I do now?
 Thanks,

You want to use the Hauppauge_350 remote section (the one at the
bottom) from the following file
http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/hauppauge/lircd.conf.hauppauge.

Copy and paste this section to /etc/lircd.conf and then irw should
work as normal.

The Hauppauge remotes use RC5 protocol so there is no need to record
the remote manually as all of the code will be in the complete RC5
conf file that is available from lirc.org

Preston,

are you working on subversion ebuilds for MythTV?

I've updated my live CVS ebuilds for Gentoo. They only check out one
copy of the plugins repository, and all the modules share that copy.

There's a nuvexport-svn ebuild, too which builds from the Subversion
 repository.

The only change from the Gentoo ebuilds besides using the live source
repositories is to allow mmx for mythtv-cvs and mythfrontend-cvs.

I'll try to update them as needed when the ebuild break with new
development--I'm sorry it took me so long this time. There's no
particular reason to update them simply because of a release, and
releases are essentially meaningless when running from CVS.

OK I will create the MythCenter v2 despite the upcoming themeing engine, but
such knowledge as you mentioned here is very useful. Where can I find a
comprehensive documentation about theme creation? I found some things here

situation I want to put out a theme, an osd and a bootsplash theme to match,
but I want it to be easily upgradeable against new theme engines and what
not, so some efficient coding would be nice. BTW, do you know how to
implement a running clock (like the WM's taskbar one) into a theme? I want
  that too :)

It would be really nice if the themes could be written where all of the
  sizes
could be referred to as something like bigsize, mediumsize,
  smallsize,
tinysize, and hugesize. Then the actual sizes could be changed
  in one
central place, or even obey the setup options.

They can be, several of them do, however on a 100dpi display they
 should all
be readable fit properly at their default
  size.

It would really be nice if they could show the actual font
size being used, rather than describing it in vague text.
