[newbie] Sil3114A problem in Mandrake CE 10.1
Mandrake Community Edition 10.1 recognized my SATA drive on onboard SATA drive Silicon Image 3114A as SCSI Drive (/dev/sda) and it could not boot correctly. It should be /dev/hde like in Mandrake 10.0. Can anybody explain me step by step to configure this SATA tobe /dev/hde so it can boot correctly? Im newbie. You should buy mobo with NForce2 Ultra 400 Chipset. If You sound maniac, choose that come with MCP-T Southbridge, the price is little higher. If You have more money, buy two identicel memory that can run dual channel, or Dual Channel Kit. Maybe 256 MB x 2 is very good. But, you should not overclock your new machine. after several crash (I overclock my machine), sound scheme KDE is not

[newbie] Verbose and Route
Hi all,
I use Mandrake 10. I have couple question:
1.
I want to boot in verbose mode. I usually pres ESC button in my
keyboard. What should I do to make voerbose mode as default?
2.
I just can surf to internet whe there 's no route default. So I usually
delete the route default manually. Can I make the route default
diasppear forever?

[newbie] Mandrake10 Questions
Hai all,
1.
I can not boot from CD #1 Mandrake Linux Community. But I can boot from
CD #2. It that bugs? Or my LiteOn Combo has a problems?
2.
I can connect to my ISP (Centrin Indonesia) via dial-up modem. But when
I activate my onboard Network Card, I just can connect but cannot surf
or check emails. I just can surf and check emails when NIC is disabled.
Can anybody solve my problem here?
Because I want to share my connection with my brother's machine thas
runs WinXP Professional.
3.
I still can not install my Radeon driver that i downloaded from Ati's
homepage. The readme there is not as good as nVidia has. Please tell me
step by step instalation.
Please reply in simple English. :-))
My specification:
AXP 1800+
Abit NF7-S Motherboard (onboar SATA NIC)
Radeon 9100 VGA Card.

I had the same proble with may Seagate 40 gigz when I format it from
System Configuration Tools in KDE. My solution is format it from
diskdrake, but You should boot with non grafical (with no X). I used to
boot with FailSafe.
I hope it's usefull idea.

I use Mandraka 9.2 Download Edition.
Can anybody tell me where are the Update Files that I download from live
update? I want to burn it and install them in other machine that has no
internet connection.

[newbie] Ximian Evolution: Inport Addressbook
Hi all...
I use Ximian Evolution 1.2.2 [3mdk] that bundled with Mandrake 9.1.
I can not import my addressbook from Kmail with vCard 3.0 format or
comma separated format.
In vCard 3.0, Evolution just can recognize initial and email address,
but not all additional information.
In comma separated format, it can not do anything.
Please expalin me to import may addressbook.

[newbie] Problem with ASUS CDRW 5224
I bought CDRW ASUS 5224 yesterday. But when I plug in to may machine, my Mandrake 9.1 doens not boot. Just LILO and everything is black. HDD Led is off that means no HDD activity. I reset and it works like that. When I wait till 30 minutes, there is nothing happen. Finally I reinstall by formating all Linux partition, but /home, but it does not work too. Can anybody explain that? I Want to back up my files. My Spec: Duron 750, KT133, 2x128MB SDRAM, Maxtor 20 GB ast Primary Master, Samsung CDROM 52x as Secondary Master ASUS CDRW as Secondary Slave. [newbie] Printing....
halo everybody, 1. How can I pause or cancel printing in Mandrake? There is nothing in Print Manager. I usually turn my printer off, but I can not re print again. I must restart my machine to start print again. 2. Sometime when I print multiple pages, the first page is not printed. It jumps to the second page. So I must manually printe the first page. Can anybody solved my problems? Please explain in simple English, I do not speak it natively.
