I use boot magic as my boot loader. Windows XP must be on the C drive since Boot Magic is a windows application. I just have lilo save to the LINUX partition. Boot Magic locates the windows and LINUX boot loaders. Boot magic is very easy to configure and use.

If you still cannot connect after you change your DNS settings try this: I run Wingate Standard 4.3 with Extended Network Service (ENS). The ENS allows non-wingate client machines to connect to the network. I dual boot my server and my workstation. The Linux workstation works seemlessly no matter what service is running. You do need to ensure ENS is running. Start Gatekeeper, right click on Extended Networking. Select properties. Then enable Extended Network Driver. Good Luck! My LimeWireLinux.Bin installed on LM8 after I install Kaffe. Use the software manager, load the flat list and look for kaffe. After installing kaffe try installing LimeWire. When your boss decides Windows 2000 is causing more headaches than it is worth. Here is some advice. Windows 2000 takes over your hard drive. Please ensure you have a working win95/98 boot diskette somewhere so you can kill the Window 2000 boot loader. Boot the system from the win95/98 boot diskette. Run the command "sys c:" without the quotes...C: assumes the drive Win2000 was loaded on. Good luck! I have been down this path before. Try running sndconfig from root. Hopefully it will clear up your problem. I had to run sndconfig to get my sound running. It will configure both wav and midi sound. I have the same card. I had to run sndconfig I ran it as root from a KDE term window.
It gave me a warning about running it from a GUI, but it work just fine. It set up
my card in about 1 minute, including the sound checks in wav and midi mode.

I had the same thing happen to me. Thankfully I am only experimenting with Linux. I had to resort to a fresh install to fix all the problems. Selecting fresh install will give you the option to format selective partions. Hopefully you have your root and home partitions separated. The fresh install will automatically select the partition(s) that will require a format to accomplish a fresh install. After the install I had to run sndconfig to get sound running again. Keep in mind that even numbered 2.2.16 kernels are developmental and odd numbered kernels are considered stable. It is quite possible 2.2.16 will not support your machine. First you might want to check the levels by running xmixer from root. As a last ditch attempt to get it up, try this command line from root # modprobe sb io=0x220 dma=1 mpu_io=0x330 irq=5 This loads the SoundBlaster module and all the modules that go with it. If you see a warning about the sound module already being loaded, you can safely ignore it. If however, you see an error message about the interrupt number in use the command cat/proc/interrupts to examine the interrupts being used on your Linux system and check the documentation for your sound card. Then try the above command again with a appropriate parameters. Most Unix/Linux systems keep their time using Univeral Time or Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), but Microsoft systems keep their time as local time. When you set the time in either system, you set the CPU clock to that version of time. Then when you boot the other system, it interprets what is in the CPU clock differently and reports a different time. The fix: Run timeconf as root The Configure Timezones dialog box appears. Set your system clock to GMT by selecting the Hardware Clock Set to GMT option at the top of the screen. I use a microsoft USB intellimouse explorer. I use it in the USB port. The mouse is regonized in the BIOS on the TYAN Thunder 100 Dual Pentium II 400 equipped mother board. Mandrake 7.2 recognized it and set it up as a generic 3 button mouse. It works, but the wheel function is ignored. Your question should be directed at motherboard support. You never mention what hardware you have. Will your mother board support a coppermine or katomi? Linux will not care, but your motherboard may have a problem with it.
