   Yep.

It was THE file manager I have got used to after coming from a
windows environment. Someone commented that it is not in MDK 9.0 and
suggested nautilus, which I really DON'T like. Asides from the cli

files - and is fast...if you can't find it anywhere I'll copy it to a

I will repeat gmc was a part of the gnome project.
It was discontinued with the release of gnome 2.0

Even should you find an old source it will neither build nor run with
gnome 2.0 meaning that it can not work on 9.0.
The latest Mandrake on which you can have/use gmc is 8.2

There IS a package called gnome-commander available from the plf site i believe which
is SIMILAR to gmc. There is also xwc which is very much like windows explorer on the
9.0 install disks.

Yea.

gmc was the gnome GUI frontend for the CLI file mgr mc and up until the
release of gnome-2.0 could also be used as the desktop handler for
gnome.

It was/is much faster than nautilus and in my opinion the superior fm.
It's demise was 1 of several reasons which prompted me to switch from
gnome to enlightenment.

It should also be noted that because the iso size for 9.1 has been
reduced to 650MB that mc Is Not included in the isos.

this is linux... if you want to download the source and compile it (and all
the depends), you can run stuff from all kinds of places. if you have an
older version, you can even very often add that disk to the software sources
and install what ever was on that disk... I still use ViaVoice that was on
the 7.2 power pack, but I also have to install a few other things (Blackdown
JRE and UnixOBDC)

Mate, I don't blame you there - wish I could do that - but my life is
email and support - so it's in my job desc to receive several hundred
emails a day...sad but true...

Cheers!
