Paul, Sounds good. I have partically given up on BootMagic. After many unsucessfull attempts, I will try the Boot.ini file in Windows NT4. It loads Win NT's bootmanager, or it loads Linux's bootmanager. You can get bootpart anywhere on the net, have that create a 512 byte bootfile for your linux root partition, and plug that into the boot.ini file for NT. Saves you a bootmanager. RE: [newbie] How can I configure MDK7.1 with another OS using BootMagic?
After I installed Mandrake 7.1 I had to set up the boot from Linux for it to work in boot magic. Don't know why but it worked for me. I can only suggest deactivating, uninstalling and then re-installing Bottmagic...I dont think you'll have to re-install MDK... Good Luck :)
Re: [newbie] How can I configure MDK7.1 with another OS using BootMagic?
I'm behind on mt reading, but I used to install LILO onto my /boot bartition, and then point Boot Magic to that -- works quite well. But now I use GRUB Dan Romanator wrote: Hi everybody, Has any one been successful configuring Linux Mandrake 7.1 and another OS such as WinNT4? Re: [newbie] How can I configure MDK7.1 with another OS using BootMagic?
I have BootMagic working with WinNT and Linux. All you need to do is run the BM config program from NT and add the Linux boot partition to the list. I believe the program even gives you a list of partitions to choose from once you've clicked the Add button. By no means do you need to go to the trouble of reinstalling Linux. Hope this helps. -Dave --- Romanator [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi everybody, Has any one been successful configuring Linux Mandrake 7.1 and another OS such as WinNT4? Romanator wrote: Any success out there with BootMagic and Linux? -- Roman Registered Linux User #179293 Roman, I have Win2000,98 BeOS running with Mandrake 7.1 using Boot Magic as the boot manager. It should recognise Mandrake okay, in BM configuration click on "add" (new OS) in the window that opens you should see the partition that Linux is installed on, if not click the "advanced" box and it will give details of all your partitions, including those for Linux, click on the appropriate one and it will add it to the BM start-up window. Hope this helps, feel free to e-mail me direct if you think I might be able to help to avoid delays on this server. Roger [EMAIL PROTECTED]
