[NTG-context] Including font with document source
Hey list, Is there a way to include a set of font files with a ConTeXt document's source files such that a path to the directory containing the font can be directly specified in the environment? I was thinking that if it were possible to do this already, the simplefonts module might have a setup for this. The reason why I'd like to consider this is to make it easier on my users who wish to build my document from source without them having to manually download a font and figure out how to install it on their given platform. -- Kip Warner -- Software Engineer OpenPGP encrypted/signed mail preferred http://www.thevertigo.com signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part ___ If your question is of interest to others as well, please add an entry to the Wiki! maillist : ntg-context@ntg.nl / http://www.ntg.nl/mailman/listinfo/ntg-context webpage : http://www.pragma-ade.nl / http://tex.aanhet.net archive : http://foundry.supelec.fr/projects/contextrev/ wiki : http://contextgarden.net ___

You know Peter, I must admit. ConTeXt has made me rather cynical at times. I don't know how many times I've tried a snippet of this or that, only to have it do exactly what I hadn't intended. Having said that, every now and then I am blown away when something I never expected to actually get working, gets working. Thank you so much, that worked beautifully. Both Evince (poppler based) and AR look identical now. I stuck it in my environment file. I wonder if there is a safer way of doing this than via "inline asm", so to speak. It does work, but my main issue right now isn't so much with sorting as it is just getting citations to typeset properly. I do thank you for providing the zip though. These are the issues I am having lately: Using \cite[data][] depicts a full citation which is what I'd like, but I just need it as a footnote. There is probably a way to do this by having \cite do this automatically, otherwise I would have to wrap each call to it using \footnote. I'd like data to be the default format. I tried \setuppublications[alternative=data], but now all I see is an [[error 2]] typeset in the document. Another thing too is it would still be great if any time there was a 'url' tag present in the BibTeX database, automatically the 'title' is typeset interactive such that clicking it invokes the url. I think that is pretty elegant as an ideal situation, but it sounds difficult to implement. -- Kip Warner -- Software Engineer OpenPGP encrypted/signed mail preferred http://www.thevertigo.com signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part ___ If your question is of interest to others as well, please add an entry to the Wiki! maillist : ntg-context@ntg.nl / http://www.ntg.nl/mailman/listinfo/ntg-context webpage : http://www.pragma-ade.nl / http://tex.aanhet.net archive : http://foundry.supelec.fr/projects/contextrev/ wiki : http://contextgarden.net ___

[NTG-context] Rendering differences between PDF viewers
Hey list, I've noticed an unfortunate visual difference in my document's colours when rendered with Evince 2.32.0 where they come out as expected (or even with Zathura) against Adobe Reader 9.5.7. Rendered with Evince 2.32.0: https://www.avaneya.com/temp/evince.png Rendered with Adobe Reader 9.5.7: https://www.avaneya.com/temp/reader.png Note how the latter is overly saturated in the red. Does anyone have any clues as to why this might happen and what I might do to make it appear as intended in Adobe Reader? I wonder if this might have something to do with different renderer's different gamma correction? It's kind of funny that this could happen because I thought the whole point of PDFs was that they were truly portable. -- Kip Warner -- Software Engineer OpenPGP encrypted/signed mail preferred http://www.thevertigo.com signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part ___ If your question is of interest to others as well, please add an entry to the Wiki! maillist : ntg-context@ntg.nl / http://www.ntg.nl/mailman/listinfo/ntg-context webpage : http://www.pragma-ade.nl / http://tex.aanhet.net archive : http://foundry.supelec.fr/projects/contextrev/ wiki : http://contextgarden.net ___

See I totally forgot that it's basically copying the values of the tags directly into the bbl file which is already ConTeXt syntax, so all I have to do is replace the value of the title tag with the url. I have a few other bibliography related questions that you or Hans might be able to answer: (1) I'd like it such that each time I use \cite, the full citation and not just "(Some One, 1967)" appears in a footnote, rather than inline. I'm thinking this is done with one of the setup commands, but not sure how to do this. My *tex is fairly weak. (2) I'd like to do the above, but also in some cases be able to specify a specific page number or anecdote to add to the footnote. (3) I'd like any entry in the BibTeX database that has a url to have the title clickable such that the browser is invoked to that url. Which brings me to the next question. (4) Since my database is specified in the .bib format, what is the preferred way of specifying a URL where there is one? I've seen a bunch of different suggestions ranging from using the 'note' tag to wrapping in a \def. (5) Is there any way to dump a list of all the references, similar to \placepublications command that just lists references that contain a certain keyword or something? e.g. organized by a category? [NTG-context] Dump table of contents
Hey list, Is it possible to instruct ConTeXt to generate just the table of contents, skipping all other front matter, back matter, appendices, body matter, etc.? For example, only the following I'd like to see in the outputted PDF: % Contents at a glance... \title{Contents at a Glance} \placelist[chapter] % Complete table of contents... \title{Table of Contents} \placecontent Right now I am generating the full book, but then passing through pdftk manually to extract just the pages that fall within the aforementioned. I tried putting the aforementioned code in its own product file and then passing that through ConTeXt with the book's environment, but the problem is that the TOC now has nothing in it, of course. -- Kip Warner -- Software Engineer OpenPGP encrypted/signed mail preferred http://www.thevertigo.com signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part ___ If your question is of interest to others as well, please add an entry to the Wiki! maillist : ntg-context@ntg.nl / http://www.ntg.nl/mailman/listinfo/ntg-context webpage : http://www.pragma-ade.nl / http://tex.aanhet.net archive : http://foundry.supelec.fr/projects/contextrev/ wiki : http://contextgarden.net ___

Maybe this is necessary. Maybe it isn't. I'm fairly new to typesetting and never came from a background of decades of experience with TeX. But it seems to me like any programming language, and ConTeXt is a kind of one for document engineering, should have users focusing on creating beautiful books and not on the language's information and processing model. The word "assignment" I couldn't locate once. As I said earlier, I get a segmentation fault if I leave it to run, but I always have to kill it before it takes down the entire operating system with it (apparently this is normal).
