I've removed an animated gif I was using last week, after seeing this thread. I didn't know it wasn't allowed, and I've seen some other apps using, so I've used it too. [orkut-developer] App uninstall - Available now?
I was reading the Orkut Developer Guidelines, more specifically the section User Data On Thirty-Party Servers, and the portuguese version is explicit on saying that app uninstall is available: Como foi incluído suporte para manipuladores de eventos de desinstalação, as informações de perfis de usuário estendidas podem ser armazenadas até a remoção do aplicativo, mas, até lá, a duração máxima é de sete dias. http://code.google.com/intl/pt-BR/apis/orkut/docs/orkutdevguidelines.html#data However, the english version is a little ambiguous. I think it may be talking about the actions WHEN this function become available: Once support is added for uninstall event handlers, extended user profile information may be stored until the application is removed, but 7 days is the maximum duration until then. Since I haven't found anything about app uninstall on the documentation, and the older topics on this forum say it doesn't exists, I was wondering if it's really available now or it was just lost in translation... [orkut-developer] Problems with statistics and listings
Gentlemen, The Orkut statistics for one of my apps has not been updated since 3 weeks ago! The app stats keep displaying exactly the same number of users and week usage during this period. And, due to that problem, my app is appearing as the last page of search results. It was 3rd or 4th position before. This is really worst than just annoying. I've spent time and money developing this app, and now I'm loosing 70% of my daily new users because the app is not appearing on the search results. And this is not caused by a bad app. It was created just two months ago and was receiving new users every day. One night, it was just moved from the 3rd/4th position on the search results to the exactly last one. Now I just receive new users when they add the app from friends profile. Since it's a new app, this is not the best way to find new users. This problem was reported last week. I remember that someone had the same problem and replied. But no one from Orkut team answered. How Google expects us to spend our time and money to create Orkut apps if months of work can become useless on a single night, and we have no control over it? I could resubmit the app with a new XML file and a similar name, but I think this is not the best solution. And sorry for posting this again. Re: [orkut-developer] Re: How do we rank apps in the orkut directory?
I thought that, by rendering, they were counting how many times some user watches the app in profile or canvas. But, anyway, it would be good to know how this is done exaclty. It would be frustrating if some developers were allowed to use things like that to circumvent the algoritm and push their apps up in the listings. [orkut-developer] App approval questions
Hi people. After some time playing at sandbox, I finally applied my app to Orkut last thursday night. I received the e-mail stating that it has been approved for the orkut directory and should be available soon. Well, it is available at the directory, in spite of Orkut tell's me that it is still under revision, whenever I try to add it to my profile or to a second profile of mine. But what intrigues me is that my server's database is displaying a total of 56 new users using the app. And the app's listing displays the app icon with the info that 7 users are using it. How could those people add the app if even I can't? By the way, the sandbox developer manager doesn't list this app in the stats page. Any clues? [orkut-developer] Can't open sandbox
Hi I've trying, without success, to open sandbox for the last 3 days. I'm able to access orkut.com without problems, but sandbox.orkut.com won't go anyway. I've tried IE, FF and Chrome, and already cleared the cache/cookies/etc from all of them. I just keep getting the bad, bad server (But in Portuguese) message. Anyone knows any other trick? [orkut-developer] Application being promoted to production against my will
Gentlemen, Last week I received an e-mail from Orkut telling me that my app, which was at sandbox, had been approved and was going to be available for all users in a while. And, after some time, it was available. Asking in this group, Robson told me that the applications only go from sandbox to production after the author really publishes them. I thought I was doing something very stupid, so I deleted the app XML and resubmit it again to sandbox, with a different filename (Another XML, different URL). And now I've just received the same message again. I swear I didn't touch anything! What can I be doing wrong? I've used the app's directory at the sandobox to add the XML URL, and nothing else. Should I be adding in a different way? Best regards, Alex. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups orkut Developer Forum group. Prashant lives in Satara, India, and has been active on the orkut help forum as well as on our opensocial-orkut group almost ever since orkut kicked off in India. He's one of the original Three orkuteers we also had the pleasure of inviting at our Bangalore office way back in 2008 to recognise his contributions to the orkut community. Prashant has submitted countless applications to the directory, but he seems to be a big fan of the Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, or else his most favourite of them all wouldn't be all dedicated to her! Besides being a die-hard Katrina fan, his love for orkut also shows on his website orkutfans.in, a place loaded with scrap ideas for all moods and occasions. Dhaval is mostly consumed by his busy work at office, yet he somehow manages to find some time to sneak into our forum every now and then, again just because he loves to share his knowledge with others! He has written many orkut apps, among which he counts SuperScrap, Meetha Message, Seedhi Baat No Bakwaas, and Amity Career Test among his favourites. [orkut-developer] GTUG
Sorry for the off-topic, but I've seen several brazilian guys here. I remember we started a GTUG-SP and a mail group right after Google Dev Day 2009, but eventually the group messages ceased (I think people moved to Wave). So, are you people still keeping in touch somewhere, besides here, in portuguese? Re: [orkut-developer] Porting orkut-os-client to PHP
Hi Maybe I can help you. Don't know why or how or event when, but I can try. I've tried to get the project but the folders are still empty. When are you planning to commit? Hi Prashant Unfortunatelly, it doesn't answer.
