Re: [orkut-developer] A Copy App of Mine

2011-02-02 Thread Alex Porto
It's really strange, because moisegames would have to have access to your
server in order to insert the required author authentication code inside the
XML while submitting the new copy of the app, since it's using your
server, as you said.

 Hi,

 I have some good news for apps that use the Activity Stream.

 We've recently revised the activity stream filtering algorithm and also
 introduced a new mechanism for grouping together similar/related activites
 together on the interface. This allows orkut to display more updates from
 applications while maintaining the balance between different activity types.

 This change is rolling out to our user base as I write, and should reach
 100% of users in the next few weeks. We expect this change to increase the
 users' engagement with applications.

 Looking forward to your feedback!

[orkut-developer] Invalid link on opensocial.requestSendMessage

2010-12-24 Thread Alex Porto
Hello,people.

I've noticed a problem with the e-mail sent by opensocial.requestSendMessage

The original link, posted in the message, as a text (Not HREF):
http://www.orkut.com.br/Main#Application?appId=XXX

When the message is received, it's keep as the same text, but Orkut or Gmail
changes it to link to:
http://main/#Application?appId=XXX

I've tried setting the A HREF by myseld, but there was no difference: The
link is always changed to the incorrect link above.

So, the user receiving the message can't follow the link, unless it copies
the text and paste into the web browser address bar.

Any hints about that?

Re: [orkut-developer] No animated GIFs!

2010-12-20 Thread Alex Porto
I've removed an animated gif I was using last week, after seeing this
thread. I didn't know it wasn't allowed, and I've seen some other apps
using, so I've used it too. And I've never received any warning. If I hadn't
signed this forum, I would still be using the prohibited gif.

I still see some apps with bad behavior, things really worse than an
animated gift outside canvas. I've even reported a false Photoshop some days
ago, wich still have a high score in the apps directory. I hope you guys
take care of these things. I believe these kind of apps cause the most harm.

Alex.

 Yes, we'll definitely send warnings before taking anything down, don't

 And, just to clarify the ambiguity, the idea is that animated GIF's are not
 allowed anywhere except on the Canvas view. So they can't be used as a
 screenshot, on the activity stream or anywhere else.

[orkut-developer] App uninstall - Available now?

2010-12-11 Thread Alex Porto
I was reading the Orkut Developer Guidelines, more specifically the section
User Data On Thirty-Party Servers, and the portuguese version is explicit
on saying that app uninstall is available:

Como foi incluído suporte para manipuladores de eventos de desinstalação,
as informações de perfis de usuário estendidas podem ser armazenadas até a
remoção do aplicativo, mas, até lá, a duração máxima é de sete dias.
http://code.google.com/intl/pt-BR/apis/orkut/docs/orkutdevguidelines.html#data

However, the english version is a little ambiguous. I think it may be
talking about the actions WHEN this function become available:

Once support is added for uninstall event handlers, extended user profile
information may be stored until the application is removed, but 7 days is
the maximum duration until then.

Since I haven't found anything about app uninstall on the documentation, and
the older topics on this forum say it doesn't exists, I was wondering if
it's really available now or it was just lost in translation...

[orkut-developer] Problems with statistics and listings

2010-11-02 Thread Alex Porto
Gentlemen,

The Orkut statistics for one of my apps has not been updated since 3 weeks
ago! The app stats keep displaying exactly the same number of users and week
usage during this period. And, due to that problem, my app is appearing as
the last page of search results. It was 3rd or 4th position before.

This is really worst than just annoying. I've spent time and money
developing this app, and now I'm loosing 70% of my daily new users because
the app is not appearing on the search results. And this is not caused by a
bad app. It was created just two months ago and was receiving new users
every day. One night, it was just moved from the 3rd/4th position on the
search results to the exactly last one. Now I just receive new users when
they add the app from friends profile. Since it's a new app, this is not the
best way to find new users.

This problem was reported last week. I remember that someone had the same
problem and replied. But no one from Orkut team answered.

How Google expects us to spend our time and money to create Orkut apps if
months of work can become useless on a single night, and we have no control
over it?

I could resubmit the app with a new XML file and a similar name, but I think
this is not the best solution.

And sorry for posting this again.

Alex.

Not yet for me.

Also the stats weren't updated for the last week, and apps listing it's
showing it with the 2 weeks old stats (about 3500 users and 2200 week
users). In spite of that, it's apearing in the last position - I have to
click the more listing several times in the search results until it shows
my app in the last position, just before the text There's no more
applications.

It doesn't make sense. There is, for example, and application with 23 users
and 8 users week usage showing 16 positions before mine!

Maybe your flash player's security configuration is blocking it, if you're

Checking Security.AllowDomain() on Flash documentation or trying a local

Re: [orkut-developer] Re: How do we rank apps in the orkut directory?

2010-08-26 Thread Alex Porto
I thought that, by rendering, they were counting how many times some user

apps up in the listings.

 If my app heavily uses ajax and doesn't reload evry time - does this

 I thought that it is natural for apps in opensocial to use ajax a lot.

[orkut-developer] App approval questions

2010-08-21 Thread Alex Porto
Hi people.

After some time playing at sandbox, I finally applied my app to Orkut last
thursday night. I received the e-mail stating that it has been approved for
the orkut directory and should be available soon.

Well, it is available at the directory, in spite of Orkut tell's me that it
is still under revision, whenever I try to add it to my profile or to a
second profile of mine.

But what intrigues me is that my server's database is displaying a total of
56 new users using the app. And the app's listing displays the app icon with
the info that 7 users are using it.

How could those people add the app if even I can't?

By the way, the sandbox developer manager doesn't list this app in the stats
page.

Any clues?

Best regards,

Alex.

[orkut-developer] Can't open sandbox

2010-07-28 Thread Alex Porto
Hi

I've trying, without success, to open sandbox for the last 3 days. I'm able
to access orkut.com without problems, but sandbox.orkut.com won't go anyway.
I've tried IE, FF and Chrome, and already cleared the cache/cookies/etc from
all of them.

I just keep getting the bad, bad server (But in Portuguese) message.

Anyone knows any other trick?

Best regards,

Alex.

[orkut-developer] Application being promoted to production against my will

2010-07-19 Thread Alex Porto
Gentlemen,

Last week I received an e-mail from Orkut telling me that my app, which was
at sandbox, had been approved and was going to be available for all users in
a while. And, after some time, it was available.

Asking in this group, Robson told me that the applications only go from
sandbox to production after the author really publishes them. I thought I
was doing something very stupid, so I deleted the app XML and resubmit it
again to sandbox, with a different filename (Another XML, different URL).

And now I've just received the same message again. I swear I didn't touch
anything! What can I be doing wrong? I've used the app's directory at the
sandobox to add the XML URL, and nothing else. Should I be adding in a
different way?

Best regards,

Alex.

Hi Prashant.

I've teste, just right now, both on sandbox and prod.sandbox. Using iexplore

cases.

I'm using the code sample provided by Robison, but viewer id is only printed
when the viewer is also the owner of the app.

This bypasses the error, but errorMessages is empty.

if (viewerData.hadError()) {
viewer = '-1';
document.getElementById('mydiv').innerHTML += viewerData.errorMessage();
 } else {
viewer = viewerData.getData().getId();

 Hi, guys.

 I've been facing this problem: registerOnLoadHandler work's fine for apps
 on canvas view, but not for profile. I've made a very simple gadget code,
 just to add text to a div's content on initialization, and it just works on
 canvas:

 Content type=html
 ![CDATA[
 html
 head
 script type=text/javascript language=javascript
 function init()
 {
 document.getElementById('mydiv').innerHTML =
 /brOk;
 }

 gadgets.util.registerOnLoadHandler(init);
 /script
 /head
 body
 center
 div id=mydivLoading./div
 /center
 /body
 /html
 ]]

 Am I doing anything wrong here?

[orkut-developer] Can't get viewer id when viewer is not the owner

2010-07-03 Thread Alex Porto
Gentlemen,

I've noticed this issue: I can get viewer and owner id's using

req.add(req.newFetchPersonRequest(OWNER), get_owner);
req.add( req.newFetchPersonRequest( 'VIEWER' ), 'get_viewer' );

And then, after the request data arrives,

function dataAvailable(data) {
var ownerData = data.get('get_owner').getData();
var owner = ownerData.getField( opensocial.Person.Field.ID );

var viewerData = data.get('get_viewer').getData();
var viewer = viewerData.getField( opensocial.Person.Field.ID );

However, this code isn't working when the viewer isn't the owner. I.e.: When
I'm watching an app installed on my Orkut account, it return's ok. But when
other users loads the app on my Orkut profile, the viewerData is invalid. I
can catch this by data.hadError(), but data.errorMessage() returns
undefined, as well as viewerData.

Also, I noticed that the owner Id returned in both cases is differente from
the uid present at Orkut URL.

Any hint's about that?

Thank you,

Alex.

Hi Robson!

It worked! I'm gonna try the opensocial-templates tomorrow, but the id
requests are working now.

Thank you!

And my regards to any group members from Argentina :-)

Sorry for the off-topic, but I've seen several brazilian guys here. I
remember we started a GTUG-SP and a mail group right after Google Dev Day
2009, but eventually the group messages ceased (I think people moved to
Wave). So, are you people still keeping in touch somewhere, besides here, in
