Suse (and, by extension, kde and Gnome) needs to include more fun and games.
Having said that, to keep this post relevant to the opensuse community, I will
attempt to answer your question.

I saw it written once that no humor can exist without some form of pain.
Embarrassment, slips and falls, etc. Vaudeville made millions from
slapstick comedy, stand-up comedians ply their trade with stock anti-
whatever jokes and self-deprecating routines. Even a fart in church will
get laughs, even though the farter is often quite embarrassed by it.

Humor works best if working with misdirection and surprise; see:
http://www.answers.com/topic/humour

The bottom line is that as each culture has their own comfort zone
(watch an Englishman talking to an Italian at a party and you will see them
waltzing around the room as the Italian keeps moving into his comfort zone
and the Englishman tries to move out to his), so does each culture have their
basic rules about humor.

Excising all humor from discussions because it might be offensive to some is
in itself offensive. If someone complains about a joke and the joke (or one
like it) is repeated in their presence, then the jokester is offensive. Only
then.

The humor-impaired are the greatest danger to mankind. Take, for instance,
al-Quaida. They find nothing funny.

If this thread continues past this message, then count me out of the
discussion. I started it, this should finish it. Anything else should either
have a different subject or come to me off-list. If it shows up again on the
list I'll figure the writer was just plain stupid.

I debated long on hard with myself whether I should get involved with
this issue. But the tone of the above tipped the issue...

The joke was boring, and it was sexist... mainly as it was based on the
assumptions that a) only women had breasts, b) only women would consider
breast ipod transplants and c) only men would listen in those
transplants once installed... considering that are large part of the
population have already transplanted said ipods to their ears it is no
surprise that they could become permanently attached to other parts of
the human (or companion animals) anatomy, the only speculation which
comes to mind where the battery or battery charger would be placed

Below is some humour which a) involves linux, b) possibly involves some
SuSE engineers, and therefore is probably closer to topic of the list
than the original post..

BTW If there are any dead badgers on the list I apologise in advance...

Badgers are permanently murderously angry, don't they know?

Perhaps when I die, someone will reanimate me in this manner. I'm kind

I find it misogynistic too, and I'm also offended. Being a Texan has
nothing to do with it, I know many Texans who would not tolerate any
sexist rubbish. And you don't need to be a god of the list or of any

This is considered to be a major breakthrough, because women have always
complained about men staring at their breasts and not listening to them.

Thanks to Apple, everyone is now happy.

This is misogynistic and I find it offensive. Please don't post trash
like this here.

Are you the list god? I do not think it is trash, I did not find it offensive.

No, it was just stupid.

Quite the contrary, I enjoyed it. Should something be banned because it

as cosmopolitan or as sophisticated as you, just 'misogynistic'.

So far, the official count is 2 for, 1 against. In my part of the world,
the majority rules. Except when they supported Gore.

Okay we're really descending into misogyny now.
Let's just agree to disagree and get back to our lonely,
pathetic lives.

Oh, I'm sorry - I guess that's just me.

While I agree it doesn't belong here, please explain how
any of this stupidity is HATE towards women.

Your politically correct groupthink is just as exasperating
as the moron who started this dumb thread

you people need to relax, it's just a joke!

It has all of the elements of a joke except it lacks humor.

Perhaps inappropriate would be a better choice of word. Also, I've seen
 two against, but none for.

But against what aspect of it? The woman as sex object, or the male
as sex obsessed? This really was more of a slam on males than females,
IMO.

Good grief...do they bring you in when they want the party to *die down*? It
seems like you are the one lacking any 'humor', though you're pretty quick on
the draw to tell someone they're juvenile and you go making fun of their
handle.
