Thanks for the quick response. Seems funny to say anything is here to stay related to any constantly evolving technology project, or anything related to the Internet. I was just offering my observations coming at this project fresh. My opinion was simply that the mailing list method seems outdated. I wasnt suggesting it is not effective, just comparing it to the features/benefits of newer community technologies Ive used on other projects. ___ osg-users mailing list osg-users@lists.openscenegraph.org http://lists.openscenegraph.org/listinfo.cgi/osg-users-openscenegraph.org

There *is* an OSG discussion forum:http://www.3drealtimesimulation.com/3dsceneBB/index.phpIt's just not very official (and not used much, from what I can see...). Email works great for me. Hello, > Just an idea (sorry if it was discussed previously - I'm new here)... how > about an actual discussion forum (like vBulletin) to compliment the wiki. Indeed, it has been discussed previously. Search the archives. Last I heard of it, some people suggested ways of bridging a forum and the mailing list but nothing practical came of it... As I said, look at the archives on the subject, you'll see the arguments for and against. We've now had at least two people who went to the old wiki after the new one is online (Nick Prudent and Ben Discoe), and there must be others too. Was there a reason to keep the old wiki online instead of replacing it with a redirect to the new one? I imagine it's just adding to the confusion new users experience. And now is not the right time to be *adding* to their confusion! :-) (crude reference to the documentation issue... :-) ) J-S -- __ Jean-Sebastien Guay [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://whitestar02.webhop.org/ This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program. ___ osg-users mailing list osg-users@lists.openscenegraph.org http://lists.openscenegraph.org/listinfo.cgi/osg-users-openscenegraph.org

Re: [osg-users] CMake instructions for OSG 2.0 don't work on Windows
Ben, "Where is the source code" should point to the top-level directory that contains the top-level CMakeLists.txt file. For step two, you need to browse to the directory that contains the CMakeLists.txt file instead of the CMakeLists.txt file itself (just as the CMake error indicates). It sounds like a very minor glitch in the documentation. Anyone who has used CMake on Windows is familiar with this process; therefore, they probably did not scrutinize the documentation. Hope this helps! Re: [osg-users] CMake instructions for OSG 2.0 don't work on Windows
Hi Ben, Must admit I haven't checked the old links. Indeed its surprising that others others hadn't followed the wrong trail. Changing domains and wiki's has thrown quite a few items in the mix, we have to just try and fix things we miss when they are found. BTW, have you got things compiling with instruction on the new wiki? We also have 2.2 not far away, this fixes a number of problems seen in 2.0, so you might want to try out the 2.1.x dev series, I'll be building 2.1.8 tomorrow. Robert.
