Total Recorder and sound questions

2004-09-14 Thread Jim Portillo
Hello there. I'm wondering if anyone on this list deals much with the use of the
Total Recorder program.
I just got it this weekend and am excited with its many posibilities. However, I'm
running into a problem.

I am trying to record using a microphone. I have a laptop that is running Windows XP,
and I have a soundblaster card for a sound card.
I bought one of those headset microphones, and it seems to be working because when I
actually record, I know it is recording what I'm saying.
However, what happens is that I personally can't hear myself as I talk, so it's hard
to set levels.
I've gone to the sound and audio part of the Control Panel to tweek the settings, and
so far, the volume is set right and the line-in is unmuted.

What I'd eventually like to do is to record my minidisks by using a line-in cable and
Total Recorder, but again, it's going to be hard because something is not allowing me
to hear what is going on. Yet, I do know that sound is feeding through because I was
able to record. I just wasn't able to set the levels without being able to hear what
is being recorded.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
Jim

Don't use Total Recorder as Freedom Box states that it takes control over

Re: Easy CD-DA Extractor

2004-09-14 Thread russell Bourgoin
Hi Jim,
I use ez cd extractor. I purchased it several versions ago, and
now I use version 6. whatever. Like many other programs, newest is not the
most accessible. Any version up thru 6 is good. I've not attempted using
version 7 because I've read that it, like, say ez cd creator 7, seems to
have changed to the point where its no longer accessible. If you should
decide to purchase this program and need help with it, let me know. I've,
like I said, used it for years now and I like it better than cdex or any
other of its competitors. Hope this helps. good luck!

your help with dvds

2004-09-14 Thread stephen thacker
Hi folks, I've three programmes on my pc, Real Audio, Windows Media Player an
Interactual Player on my pc. However, whichever one I use, I'm finding it difficult to
get from one track to the next ie there might be a clip featuring a piece of music,
then a video interview with bits of music and then a concert or video of a concert.
How should one get from one track to the next?

Alternatively, would it be better to have a stand alone dvd player and if so, what
would be accessible to a blind person, or is there a better piece of software I could
use?

I look forward to any help.

Cheers, Steve

Re: NFL Field Pass

2004-09-14 Thread petrakigianos-giasou
I hope you have a broadband connection. The other thing is the
server or servers were busy for week 1 of the NFL season. The
archives or on demand feature is good to have if you can not
listen to a game live.

I have Sirius satellite radio for the home. Sirius has every NFL
game and for 7 years. No computer needed. Plus you get the NHL,
NBA and hopefully MLB soon. They also have NCAA college
football. Costs $12.95 per month. I have the Audiovox receiver
and the boombox. I hear they have come out with a product called
Streamjockey and is made by Xact Communication.

You get 65 music stations and like 55 other stations. If you
only like the music part you can get the music stations via the
Dish Network satellite service. I have Sirius mostly for the non
music stations. If you have a laptop and are away from home you
can listen to the 65 music channels only via the web.

Sirius can be found at:

A question about link associations with real and other media programs.

2004-09-14 Thread Mike Mote
Hi folks. When I click on a stream that doesn't use real one or windows media player,
real player tries to play it anyway, and I end up getting a general error message. I
use surfer network's player for a few stations, and when I click on a link, it doesn't
open, real one does though, and it shouldn't. Was wondering how I can change the way
those links are recognized?

Re: Total Recorder suggestion

2004-09-14 Thread petrakigianos-giasou
To the person who could not hear the sound output on his
notebook computer while recording using Total Recorder. Maybe
this will work: Use a splitter. Connect this splitter into your
1/8 inch sound card line-in jack. This will give you 2 female
1/8 inch jacks. Plug one end of the 1/8 inch jack to your output
source and the other end to one of the jacks on the splitter.
Now you have 1 remaining jack open on the splitter. Connect a
headphone jack to this remaining jack. This way you can atleast
hear what you are recording with Total Recorder but no sure how
you can fix control levels though.

Hope this helps.

I'm considering upgrading from Total Recorder Standard to Total Recorder

button easily accessible through a keyboard command or other means? Also, do
you see any other significant advantages to TR professional over TR
standard?

Hi John,
Well I found it and installed it, but now I get this error

Windows Media Player cannot play this file. Connect to the Internet or insert

I'm trying to access listen live links for various radio stations but it won't
work. My earlier version of windows media played them fine so I'm not sure what
the issue is, any thoughts as to what settings to fiddle with. I've got windows

Hi, I remember having a problem like this, and in my case, it was the
enternet 100 dsl software that was doing this. The only way to fix
this is to repair internet explorer since windows media player is a
part of internet explorer, at least, that has been my experience. In
my case, though, every time I would start msn messinger, it would start
having trouble again, but now that I have raspppoe, I don't have those
problems anymore.
