You will find if the sound driver is installed and you have told
replay radio to use that external driver it will always use the
external driver and you will always have to change the configuration
back to your sound card of coise!!
I use quick mix it's a very good utility you set your preferred
settings in your mixer then save them then when you need to use them
you just open quick mix and just open the preferred setting of your

causes more problems than it is worth in my opinion.

Larry, now that I think about it, there is a setting that starts
replay-radio when windows starts and I believe minimizes it to the
systray.
This can be changed in the settings section which is found in the main
menu
near the end of choices. When the program starts, shift tab about
three or
four times and you should get to settings. Hit the spacebar, when you
do.
I believe the choice of starting replay-radio when windows starts is
in the
general tab of that menu I think. I never thought of this as I keep
boxes
like this unchecked as a rule and did it so long ago I'd forgotten
about the
option.

Re: Replay Radio Driver Question

2005-05-14 Thread Ron or Susan Denis
1. The program comes with a good help file or links to help on the net but
there is not a good hotkey list that I've seen nor for that matter are there
many hotkeys that I've noticed. On the other hand, it is quite accessible.
It will record shows in most formats but does seem to require that you have
the requisite player (windows media or real) on your computer. You can
choose how to save the files: as WAV or several levels of MP3 files. I
think there is also an option to save them as WMA files but am not sure.
The program is not hard to use but does require one to remember that the
spacebar activates most buttons rather than the enter key. There are a
couple of times when this is not the case, but these seem self evident when
relevant. RD

Re: Replay Radio Driver Question

2005-05-14 Thread Ron or Susan Denis
Actually, for many soundcards, you can make recordings without the replay
radio drivers. I suspect you need them if, like myself, you want to use the
extended sound card driver. This is not automatically loaded onto your
computer as it can in some cases cause problems, but was revamped and
brought back into the program by popular demand because it allows one to
record the stream before it hits the sound card screening out any system
sounds and this includes speech. It is easily removed from the control
panel add-remove programs option specifically because they figure that if it
does cause problems on a specific system, the owner will want to remove it.
I use it regularly because it causes no significant problems on my machine.

Hi,

Thanks for your scripts on the Delta. Now that I can access the panels and
hear what they are about,A I have a couple of questions.

1. There is a setting about Latency which I don't understand the
significance. It seems to be set to 256. Should I change it or why would I?

2. The panel seems to have the number
Panel Version: 1.03.26 - 2.6.00

Is this the best or most recent that will work with your scripts. Note I
also downloaded the recent driver that you posted info about.

3. I have the Audio File, not the 66 which you referr to in the Insert-H
section.

My congrats on excellent work.

Your questions:
1. I'll leave the answer to someone who is able to provide a more technical
explaination concerning the Latency issue. I'm afraid I would only muddy the
waters.

2. It sounds like you have the latest panel. Make sure you install the

It will record pretty much anything when it comes to streaming media and a

Joanne, you don't necessarily need the driver, but it does help filter out
other computer sounds while recording. One difference between Total Recorder
and Replay Radio is that you can opt out of using the driver and still enjoy
full functionality. Try it both ways and see which works for you.

Problems With An Online Station

Re: Burning CDs with Windows Media Player

2005-05-14 Thread Yardbird
Hi Bruce,

Well, I've looked into your suggestion and have some questions. My hope is
to find the most affordable and most easily Jaws accessible program for
burning music CDs from ripped albums (I'm not likely to create any mix CDs,
just recreate CDs from ripped files en toto), copy a music CD without
ripping the original first, and also making periodic backups of the folders
on my hard drive that are most important to me. Preferably using CDr/W for
those so that I can make weekly backups by rewriting the same CD without
having to learn what I guess is called multisession technique, creating
incremental or successive backups on the same CD. I don't want to get into
that. I want to use the method just as I long ago used a stack of floppies
and a DOS backup program every week to back up directories from my hard
drive. Not trying to create archives of all my backups.

but I digress. I went to the Golden Hawk site and found the information
about CDRWIN, and the price is certainly right. But then, it's in the same
price point with Roxio Easy CD/DVDCEDED Creator 6 that, as Will pointed out,
is till available from some vendors.

(By the way, I managed to find the Main Menu program that included a review
and tutorial back in June 2000. But when I clicked on the link, I was
kidnapped to some sort of search results page with a lot of hits for CD/R
stuff, and whose link for CDRWIN took me to a CDRWIN home page of some sort
that didn't make any sense to me. So I went back to the Golden Hawk site,
without having heard or read any personal evaluations or descriptions of the
product.)

This may be of interest to ACB radio fans in case this means someone has
hijacked that link or something. Anyway, what I would appreciate your
telling me is just how accessible and understandable the program is for you,
and if you are able to compare it in that regard to the Roxio product. I'm
not assuming you've had experience with Easy CD Creator, but there's no harm
asking, I guess. I'm just trying to decide. Because I've determined that I
simply can't figure out how to do this in WMP for reasons I don't want to
reiterate, and also I tried out that Premier product but it began
malfunctioning strangely after just one successful use for both ripping and
burning, and I couldn't get any tech support from them at all. Not one
answer to my careful questions. So even if some people are enjoying that
Premier product, I can't see spending my money on it, though I'd like to
support this apparently well-intentioned accessibility-conscious company.

So, any further suggestions before I take a leap and buy either Easy CD/DVD
creator or CDRWIN? I really hope to choose one that isn't too mystifying so
that I find myself tabbing around a bunch of controls I can't make sense of,
reading instructions that are poorly and incompletely written, and so forth.
If only there were a burning program as simple and efficient as CDex is for
ripping. But I guess there isn't whimper, whimper..

Thanks very much. I hope to get through this soon. Appreciate the help.

All I can say is this: I tried Easy CD Creator. I was successsful with it,
but at the time it couldn't do disk-at-once recording. This has since
changed. I've tried NEro, got nowhere with it. This doesn't mean it's not

With one exception: one day either I changed something or some poltergeist

Re: Replay Radio Driver Question

2005-05-14 Thread Peter Scanlon
One difference between Total Recorder
and Replay Radio is that you can opt out of using the driver and still enjoy
full functionality. Try it both ways and see which works
Total Recorder has a setting to turn off System sounds. It also has Use
Directly and a radio button to select whether you use the selected audio
card or TR Driver.

I've actually just discovered my TR is not set to use the TR Driver, but the
system sounds are turned off. I a have had some sound problems when playing
CD's, so have not played in puter for quite a while. I will have to do some
testing now to see if that problem still happens.

P

I wonderfor you.

 Hi their,

You will find if the sound driver is installed and you have told
replay radio to use that external driver it will always use the
external driver and you will always have to change the configuration
back to your sound card of coise!!

I use quick mix it's a very good utility you set your preferred
settings in your mixer then save them then when you need to use them
you just open quick mix and just open the preferred setting of your
 choose.

If I was you I would unstall the external driver for replay radio it
causes more problems than it is worth in my opinion.

 all the best.

I never thought of this as I keep
 boxes
like this unchecked as a rule and did it so long ago I'd forgotten
 about the
 option.

Just like you were in Windows Explorer, highlight the track or file you
want to delete, and press del, and it should ask you if you are sure, say
yes, and it's done. Press shift-del, and it will just do it, no questions
asked. You can also use ctrl-a to select all before doing the same as

Re: Burning CDs with Nero, it's not as bad as you think

2005-05-14 Thread Larry Higgins
Just one observation about my experience with CDRWin. I am very much in
agreement with Bruce, the program is definitely super accessible. However,
something that really drove me nuts for a time was when pressing enter
rather than the spacebar on most functions would cause the program to
simply disappear, making it necessary to go locate it in the taskbar in
order to bring it back into focus. Outside of that, it wasn't bad.

Have to add another drawback however. One thing you can't do with CDRWin
that you can do with Nero, with nero you can make use of Explorer for
copying and cutting and pasting files to and from your playlist. With
CDRWin you can't. This makes using Nero a sheer pleasure.

you're burning an audio cd and you want to get rid of the 2 second gap

I have never experienced the focus issues you mention, to be honest. The

creating my own directory with files to be burned or else just browsing to

audio, CD Rom, ISO, etc. Once you find the type of cd you want, press
the new button and another window opens. You can then copy and paste
files directly from windows explorer into the compilation window. and
if you look on the file menu at the compilation properties, you can
tell how full your cd is before burning. To burn, just go to the
recorder menu and press enter on burn compilation. another screen will
come up, you can just press the burn button and nero will start doing
its thing. If you're burning an audio cd and you want to get rid of
the 2 second gap between the tracks, you can press your application key
while in the list of files you're burning and go to properties. in
thatscreen, find the spot where it says , pause edit, replace the 2 in
that edit box with a 0. press ok and burn your cd as described above
  and you should be fine.
  So Nero is very usable.

The URL is www.goldenhawk.com. I learned the program on my own, but I
believe Main Menu did a review of the program once upon a time.

  Hi Bruce,
where do you find this product? Do you have the URL of some
   place that
offers it? Also, do you happen to know of any reviews of it
  online,
  especially by blind access people?

  Thanks.

I recommend CDRWIN. It's cheaper than Nero, and I have never been

able to
get anywhere with Nero while I have found CDRWIN to be very
accessible.
