Olympus DS-50 will do the trick real nicely, and any of the PDAs using
MobileSpeak Pocket speech software will work great. These are probably the
easiest to lay your hands onto.

I suspect that 0.0001% of podcatcher users know the urls of their podcasts
grin!!
Seriously, are you seeking the urls of podcasts you are already subscribed
to, or to podcasts you wish to subscribe to.
If the former, go to the downloads menu,
down arrow to subscriptions
highlight the podcast you wish the url for
go to the tools menu with alt-t
and arrow down to feed properties.

If the latter, either from the site you are subscribing the podcast from
or any of a large number of podcast directories online such as
podcastalley.com. I often Google for podcast subscription info also.

Brian Hartgen Interview YSI plugin jaws scripts

2007-08-14 Thread petrakigianos-giasou
I did a ten minute Skype podcast with Brian Hartgen the author
of the Jaws scripts for the YouSendIt plugin.

The YSI plugin is part of the Replay AV 8.21 software program.

To download or listen:

http://www.applian.com/Podcasts/45-brian-hartgen.mp3

I used the Callburner program from:

to record the skype call with Brian. Current version is
1.0.0.39.

Thank you very much Brian for developing these scripts for the
YouSendIt plugin.

And thanks to Darrell Chandro for telling me and others about
the Callburner program.

Is there a catalog somewhere of all your Replay AV podcasts.
You have done a ton of these, and a big vote of thanks is yours, but as a
subscriber to your podcast fee, there are only about 10 or so.
And the podcast you directed me over the weekend for url finder, and a
useful resource it is, is not part of that particular listing.
I'd like to take a look -- and perhaps download for future reference --
the complete library of the Replay AV series.

You can find Juice download links in a lot of places.
For one go to

www.jfwlite.com

click on the link labeled

programs

and do a search for the word

juice.

The first hit brings you to a link for the information page; the 2nd hit
for the download.

Frequently, the quickest way to find a program, if you cannot find it
otherwise, is via a Google search.

what program to use for recording records on your computer for burning on to cd's once you have put them on your hard drive

2007-08-14 Thread Casey
I have a friend who asked me. If I would happen to know what program would
they be able to get ahold of for recording some records on to there
computer. So that they could then burn what they all had recorded on to a
cd for playing in there home cd player. Or in a friends cd player or
whatever. I was thinking of telling this friend of mine. to either get
total recorder witch the price of I forgot or gold wave witch the price of
that I don't recall at this point either. then I thought of audacity but
was not totally sure if that would be the best program for doing that task.
As a last resort. I thought of sound forge as well. But that I think would
be on the expensive side. But it would have a lot of nice features to make
his recording nice. He would like to get the best sound of these recording
as possible. So if anyone can pass along any ideas please feel free and I
will pass them along to my friend. I don't know how he is going to connect
his turn table to his computer system or anything like that. Or just
exactly what his set up is or how is planning to do this so any advice or
recommendations or help that you all can pas along that would be grate.

Hi Clifford,

Well, I followed your advice and used the real player music store. You are
right it is much easier. Now I have two more problems though.

First of all, when I bring up real player it automatically goes out to the
internet and plays me about 30 seconds of clips that I'm not interested. I
don't know how to turn this feature off.

Secondly, if I go into the CD burner how do I locate and add songs to my
list to burn. I want to get several songs in a list to burn all at once
because I don't want to waste a CD with just a couple of song on it.

Thanks much.

Chris,

When in Real Player, to go the Tools menu, alt+T and arrow up or down,
to Preferences. The first item in perferences is how to what page you
want Real Player to open. I think you have to tab down once and then
arrow through several selections. Then tabe to ok and hit enter. I
think I have mine set to Real Player only no browser. You can have it
open to the Music Store or the Cd Burner or several other things.

As for adding tracks to burn several on a disk. I find it easiest to
select my first track as I think you know how to do now. After the CD
Burner comes up, I alt/tab back to where I have my music, select another
track hit the applications key and arrow down to burn in Real Player.
It places that track after the first. I repeat until I have as many
tracks as I want or will fit on the disk.

Another way to do this is to create a new folder in My Documents with
what ever name you want. Copy and paste the tracks you want to burn to
this folder. Once you have all the tracks in the order you want (you
may need to append numbers before the track name to get the order to
stick) do a control+a to select all, hit the applications key, arrow
down to the Burn in Real Player buttone, hit it and you will have all
the tracks ready for burning once the burner opens up.

There is another more complicated way to do this using the add tracks
function from the edit menu, but I don't advise that unless absolutely
necessary!

Hope this helps.

Subject: Re: Frustrated with Rhapsody

Hi Clifford,

Well, I followed your advice and used the real player music store. You
are right it is much easier. Now I have two more problems though.

First of all, when I bring up real player it automatically goes out to
the internet and plays me about 30 seconds of clips that I'm not
interested. I don't know how to turn this feature off.

Secondly, if I go into the CD burner how do I locate and add songs to my
list to burn. I want to get several songs in a list to burn all at once
because I don't want to waste a CD with just a couple of song on it.

Thanks much.

Hi Clifford,

Thanks. I have one more question.

Can I uninstall rhapsody and, if I do will real player still be able to use
the music store. I found 3 songs I've been looking for so that part works
really well. But for some reason rhapsody keeps wanting to load for me and
I don't want it to.

Chris,

I don't really know. I feel pretty sure that you can remove Rapsody
without affecting use of Real Player or its music store. I guess I'd go
ahead and if there's a problem, reload.

Good luck.

Hey, Clifford,

It worked!

I uninstalled rhapsody and set preferences to real player and I didn't get
the unwanted clips when I opened real player.

So, then I went to music store and got the screen to search for music. I
think this should work. Now I just need to get my list created. Do you put
your songs in your library since you said add to favorites was not so easy.
Or, do you just make a play list?

RE: Frustrated with Rhapsody

2007-08-14 Thread Blackwell, Clifford
Chris,

I do add all my tracks to the library so Real Player knows where to find
them. For new clips, this is done automatically by the program, I
think.

When I make a compilation type disk, I either create a folder into which
I copy and paste tracks in My Documents or just add them individually
in the order I want them using the highlight, applications key and arrow
down to burn in Real Player method that I described earlier.

If you have more questions, let me know.

Good luck.

Here's a review of the new Creative Labs Wav, an MP3 player with
built-in speakers. The biggest disadvantage seems to be, that it
doesn't offer dedicated volume buttons:

You might want to try the Edmonton distributer in Canada, otherwise,
 their's
a distributer in Ontario that sells it, or you can get it from online
 places.

Olympus DS-50 will do the trick real nicely, and any of the PDAs
  using
MobileSpeak Pocket speech software will work great. These are
  probably
  the
easiest to lay your hands onto.

Re: converting an ogg file to mp3

2007-08-14 Thread Bruce Toews
It really depends on what you're trying to convert. Lossy to lossy
conversion is ... well, my views on the subject are more or less
legendary. But if it's music you're converting, then my best suggestion
would be to experiment and work out what sounds best for you. Different
people have different thresholds of what quality is acceptable to them,
and your ear is really the best determinant of what works for you. It's
not the answer you were looking for, but I hope it helps.
