You're welcome. Definitely saving this one! Thanks again! Tom Kaufman -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Clive Lever Sent: Saturday, June 28, 2014 6:37 AM To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Subject: RE: For Tom and his Express Rip problem Hello Tom and all, The short answer is that you place the album in the directories you want by using the "Output Folder" option and/or the browse button/browse folder option the "browse" button on the main express rip screen. If that's all you need to know, stop reading here, otherwise: The detailed answer is: When you go into express rip and tab past the slots for artist, album year, track listing and so on, you'll come to an option that says: Output folder. This is a list of the nine most recently used locations, which you can up-arrow and down arrow through. If your chosen location is in the list of nine, once you've found it, tab on to rip the CD and the folder for the album will go there. That location then becomes the top item in the list of nine. If your desired location isn't on the list, tab again once, and you get to a 'browse Button. Press the space bar to select 'ok. You should now hear: 'Browse for folder. Use the up, down, left and right arrows to find the folder you want, just as you would on Sendspace or the 'Save As' option of MS Word. When you're pointing at the folder you want, tab to "OK and select it. Then when you rip. That will be the folder where your album will go. Once again, it will become the first item in your list of nine until change location again. Warning: If you try to rip from a CD and can't find the album where you expect it to go, though you've done all of the above, try again, first checking for and removing any trailing spaces in the artist name or album title. This is necessary because thrailing spaces in those slots damage the path name. It may be wise to edit the track names too, to get rid of any trailing spaces there. cause Express Rip to panic and throw your album into the 'my music directory on your main data drive. In case it helps, I put my albums under Genre, with a sub folder for each artist, and a sub folder within artist for each album title. So: I would look for H:\my music\rock in the folder list or the browse option. If I were ripping the Hysteria album by Deaf leppard, the artist and title slots on the main screen would give a location of: H:\my music\rock\deff leppard\hysteria. Re: a files property question
With Audio files, you can edit many of the properties using Windows Explorer. Select the file and press ALT-Enter. There is a TAB, the "Details" tab, that will let you look at and edit many properties such as title, artist, supporting artist, etc. You will see the values in a list, but if you pick one and start typing, you can then TAB between them. You might try Express Scribe from NCH Software at: http://www.nch.com.au/index.html Its primary use is transcription. One of the options in the options menu is setting up speech recognition. It will create a text draft of a file. I haven't tried this particular option so I can't vouch for its accuracy. I keep a copy of Lame always available for these cases, if you do not have it, just look for it in Google, it is free to download and use. When you convert text to MP3 with this or any other free software, it will ask you for the location of Lame unless, as Sunshine pointed out, you previously copy the files to its folder. Re: Reposting A Question
Why don't you just change the default programs in windows. I think you are using windows 7, so go into control and find default settings. when there, tab over to list view. hit a letter such as windows for windows media player and tab to where it says make default program, hit apply, then okay and see if that does what you want. - Original Message - From: "Tom Kaufman" To: Sent: Saturday, June 28, 2014 11:48 AM Subject: Reposting A Question Hello list: A couple of days ago or so, I posted a question concerning an audio podcast I have been trying to download. However, the resulting file has a low-level repeated burst of phase distortion, a sort of "meep ... meep ... meep", which can be very distracting. I've tried playing with the settings but nothing seems to help much, likewise filtering doesn't assist as the meeps are too wideband. Any ideas as to what it cold be and whay I could do about it, or is it just something I'll have to put up with? (Up with which I will have to put). RE: For Tom and his Express Rip problem
Hello Clive and list: Thanks for sending this as I think it may be useful to me in the future, should I decide to rip again with Express Rip! I have contacted this company. On its website they have the product as a 1.85 MB file download while at CNET its over 5 MB isn size. Also, at CNET it is Sept. 2011 version while company has it listed as August 2011. I also asked them if I have install a lame.exe file and where and which lame.exe file I need if necessary. Adobe Audition centre channel extract
This is what used to be called Cool Edit. I am using Audition 1.5 to clean up recording of old 78rpm records. The main process involves the "Centre Channel Extract" function (since most surface noise is out of phase), and it works very well, often needing nothing else to be done. It's certainly much better than the frying bacon that was there before! -- rgds LAurence <>< ...Jesus saves - but Joseph scores on the rebound ---Taglines by Tagzilla (tagzilla.mozdev.org)

RE: For Tom and his Express Rip problem
Hello Tom and all, The short answer is that you place the album in the directories you want by using the "Output Folder" option and/or the browse button/browse folder option the "browse" button on the main express rip screen.
