Bpoweramp Audio CD Ripper etc

2014-11-09 Thread Dane Trethowan

Hi!

I'm sure someone mentioned this software on list a little while back, I
only glanced ath the eMail at hte time and thought nothing more of the
oftware until my search for CD ripping software with the "Accuraterip"
functionality turned it up.

I've downloaded the package and testing it, the author of the eMail to
this list suggesting that the software is quite accessible was certainly
on the money, looks as though Bpoweramp may even replace Easy CD DA
Extractor or Easy CD Converter as its just that little more accessible.

There's a 21 day trial available.

There are a lot of people out there still using Winamp but the time will come -
if it hasn’t come already - when those people are going to run into
difficulties.

I’ve been playing with WMP for the last few days and I’m quite surprised at the
flexibility of the player, in fact I’d go so far as to say its been just about
a closely guarded secret .

Sure, WMP has some annoying problems in my opinion, its not very flexible when
it comes to playing Audio formats such as FLAC but for most people I’d imagine
this isn’t a problem and in any case, if you’re that concerned about playing
Lossless formats then you can use software to convert your FLAC collection to
Lossless Windows Media Audio.

My favourite player across platforms is VLC which just keeps getting better.

2014-11-09 Thread Dane Trethowan
Yes indeed but the point is we're already seeing support issues with
various audio devices and so forth, given that Winamp is not being
developed any longer then its not likely those issues are going to be
resolved, that's a risk you take when you use any software or product
that is no longer being developed or supported.

As I've said many times, I just can't quite work out why anyone would go
out of their way to use something that's no longer being supported when
there are dozens of support alternatives out there which are just ast
functional, just as accessible, freely available with more functionality
than the Pro version of Winamp ever had, keyboard shortcuts abound etc.

Exact Audio Copy also supports AccurateRip, and is accessible and free.
I'm a big fan of the dBpoweramp Music Converter, but if you're looking
for a fully-featured CD ripper, you don't need to spend any money on it.
Exact Audio Copy's only downside is that configuring it for the most
accurate rips can be a little bit confusing because it has so many
options, but there are guides out there on the Internet which can walk
you through it.

2014-11-09 Thread Chris Skarstad

Hi again guys

Glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I do believe Eset may be
part of the issue, because when I downloaded a fresh copy of tapin radio
from the rummersoft website, Nod 32 flagged the setup file as some kind
of virus, which it wasn't. I would remove Nod 32 as a test but I don't
want to put myself at risk from viruses and other bad stuff out there.
Even after completely removing the software, I'm talking about even
removing the program and all associated registry entries, a re-install
of the software exhibits this same behavior. I've not been able to get
ahold of them. They're on Facebook, but they've asked people not to
send them private messages as they won't see them. so this is a tough
one. I'm guessing we'll just have to keep trying. Glad I'm not the
only one with the problem.

Hi Chris and all,

Chris, thanks for your message. Unfortunately I don't have a solution to
your problem but I'm having a similar problem with TapinRadio that
started recently. Your message helped confirm the fact that I'm not the
only one having this problem.

For me though I now get similar messages to you when I try to go into
the Stations menu. Tapinradio crashes for me when I do this and gives me
the same message to what you get. I'm using ESET Smart Security as my
virus checker and recently upgraded to version 8 of this program. I
don't know if this is related to the TapinRadio problem or not though.

Hoping anyone having this problem finds a solution eventually.

Regards Steve.

Re: Tapin Radio crashes when doing a search

2014-11-09 Thread Charles Krugman
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Tapin ?Radio on several occasions in an
attempt to fix the problem and it didn't work. On one occasion I received an
error message from Windows that the file couldn't be installed because it
was corrupted. As a result I also tried downloading and installing using
different browsers. I noticed that in doing a search there were versions
available on other sites but those sites were trying to install ad ware and
other programs as well.

I tried to do a WOIS search for the domain and got no where with it as I
wanted to try to find some other way of contacting them for technical

That was intentional. I always use bottom posting or an inline reply

original message and/or thread, and respond in a cogent, sensible order.

Re: Tapin Radio crashes when doing a search

2014-11-09 Thread Charles Krugman
the problem seems to involve the downloads or installation of updated
station lists. The latest lists that I received in previous versions was
around 920 or there about. I think the latest one should be 927 or 928.
After reinstalling the program it says that I have list version 200 and
there are no menus that are shown under genres or networks. It appears as if
there are no lists of stations to browse or search.

Hi

Yep, I have those, but far prefer tappin due to the ease of the
program. Replay radio does all kinds of things to the sound card and
other things and i just want something that just plane works. Up until

either something on my system, or there's a common thread that we just

Can anyone Listen to Stations Using TapinRadio

2014-11-09 Thread Steve Pattison

Hi all,

We've heard from a number of people who are having problems with
TapinRadio crashing. I'm wondering if anyone on the list can
successfully listen to stations on TapinRadio at the moment. I know it
worked well previously so I'm only interested to know if some people can
hear stations using TapinRadio currently. Often I can't even get into
the stations menu to hear a station since the crashes started. If some
people can still listen to stations using TapinRadio this will show that
not everyone is having problems. However if no one on the list can now
listen to stations using TapinRadio I think it is more likely that this
crash is a problem on the TapinRadio end. Feedback would be appreciated

Hi, on my side everything is perfect. Infact, I just added over 55
favorites. I'm not sure what the problem is, I set it to not show the
station menus. Maybe that can help. I stil press alt plus b to get to
the brouzer and find them that way, that is when I don't use the
favorites list.

they stil a active team, they stil post reports on FaceBook and such,

Thanks Tom. The latest version of Tapinradio is 1.60.1. The version
number of TapinRadio is displayed in the title bar of the program. It is
interesting that you can listen to a station without any problems.

That's my thinking on this too, but I'm nervous about uninstalling it
because it does offer a pretty good layer of protection against viruses.

Help with Creative audigy please

2014-11-09 Thread Quinten Pendle
Hi all

I recently upgraded to Win7 on a machine with 8 gig ram and so on. I then
bought a Creative Audigy sound card, since my old Soundblaster Live had it's
chips.

For some obscure reason though, this audigy soundcard stutters like mad
sometimes, without warning, and apparently without reason.
This happens regardless of any audio I run through it, music, jaws, ...
everything.
I updated the drivers for the stupid piece of crap, I uninstalled it,
reinstalled it, tried to free up some resources, but to no avail.

I think I'm at the point where I wanna smash the thing into a zillion pieces.

Is there any solution for this?

I'd appreciate any help in this regard.

Thanks in advance.

All the best

Quinten Pendle
