I can play the .mkv file on my media player but if I try to jump forward or
backward it takes a while for it to move. I figure that is what is going
wrong with the converters. they are moving faster than the file wants to so
quit converting. I guess I am going to have to play it on one player and
record it in real time with another program. the file is over 1 gig in size
so I don't know how I could get it to anyone to let them try to convert it.

Sorry for those who are already in the know regarding to the Switch Sound
File Converter application, I've been using it on the Windows PC for a while
so decided to try the Mac version. I was impressed with what I found so
 decided to buy it.

The converter is totally accessible though in parts I had to route the mouse
to various buttons and use Vo-Shift-Space to press them but not a huge
 problem.

You can use Switch to extract audio from video files which some on the list
 may find extremely useful.

NCH Software are offering bundles of Applications and Utilities on sale
right now so its your big chance to make some huge savings.

One of the other Applications I recommend from this company is the excellent
Prism video File Converter, its the most stable I've seen and offers more
format and settings choices than any other video converter I've used both
 for Mac and Windows.

Hi Tom,
uninstall Winamp, and make sure you delete the Winamp directory in the
program files on your C drive.
After that install Winamp version 5.6, which can be gotten on the Winamp
site.

Hello Joe and list: I also have been consulting another list! After
looking around, I finally found where to switch from Direct Sound to
wave output (and vise versa) no soap! If I switch to Wave output (which
actually did resolve the problem) but then if I turn Winamp down, I turn
everything down, which I don't want! So I had to switch back over to
direct sound! As for unloading Jaws as you suggested, again no soap!
When Jaws is unloaded, there seems to be no way to use the arrow keys or
anything else! Since Winamp is my default player, I've not tried Windows
Media; I'm not even sure that you can fast-forward through a file with
Windows Media anymore (I do know that you cannot go back) I also know that
you cannot go directly to a certain spot in a file with Windows Media like
you can with Winamp; these are reasons why I prefer Winamp over what few
audio MP3 players I have used! I do appreciate all of your efforts to try
and help! Hopefully (one way or another) I'll get this resolved and will
report back to you if and when I do!

Subject: DVD Audio Extractor

Hello all.
Well, I cannot highly recommend the program listed in the subject enough!
Here was my scenario.
I wanted to watch a DVD, Toy Story 3, on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop. The
DVD
has audio description. Anyway, I tried playing it with Media Player
Classic

Home Cinema, a DVD and general media player that comes with the Combined
Community Codec pack. Well I couldn't get as far as the menu could I!
Plus,

the menu system of the application completely disappeared! So next I tried
VLC Media Player. This was slightly better in that I could get at least
the
first chapter of the DVD played. But when it moved onto the next chapter
it

repeated the first one! So finally, I tried to play it with DVD Audio
Extractor. It worked a treat!
The entire DVD played fine with absolutely no problems!
So my recommendation for a fully accessible, easy to use DVD player, which
also happens to extract audio, is DVD Audio Extractor, www.castudio.org.
Unless there is another similar DVD player out there that is just as fully
accessible and easy to use, I might consider purchasing the program!
Hope you like my recommendation, and happy viewing!

Re: DVD Audio Extractor

2012-03-06 Thread Arthur Barney

Hi Hamit,
the program that I sent you, will rip the movie off the DVD in AVI, MP4, and
MP3, and many other formats.
If you want to get to the DVD, when you open the program, press alt D, then
press OK, but make sure you have the DVD in the computer when you do it.
It will also convert files after you ripped the DVD into the format that you
chose, same as I mention above.

Home Cinema, a DVD and general media player that comes with the
Combined

Community Codec pack. Well I couldn't get as far as the menu could I!
Plus,
the menu system of the application completely disappeared! So next I
tried
VLC Media Player. This was slightly better in that I could get at least
the
first chapter of the DVD played. But when it moved onto the next
chapter

it
repeated the first one! So finally, I tried to play it with DVD Audio
Extractor. It worked a treat!
The entire DVD played fine with absolutely no problems!
So my recommendation for a fully accessible, easy to use DVD player,
which
also happens to extract audio, is DVD Audio Extractor,
www.castudio.org.

Unless there is another similar DVD player out there that is just as
fully
accessible and easy to use, I might consider purchasing the program!
Hope you like my recommendation, and happy viewing!

I assume these are DRM protected correct? If so, I used to use a program
called Sound Taxi when I converted DRM WMA books from Overdrive.com. I
assume it would work with Audible as well though. It is not a free
program though. The original setup required some use of the JAWS cursor,
but once it was set up, it was pretty much automatic.

If these aren't DRM protected then I used to use a program called Switch
from NCH. The free version of this program took care of all of my audio
conversion needs.

According to the web page
http://www.soundtaxi.org/soundtaxi_audio_conversion_Audible.php this is
supported. I'm not saying it doesn't violate your terms of condition
with Audible, but at least according to the Sound Taxi web site, this is
technically possible. I also noticed that Quicktime is a prerequisite
for Sound Taxi, so this also lends some credibility to that statement.

To test it, you can download Sound Taxi for free and use it in trial
mode. It's fully functional, but it'll only convert a few minutes of
audio. This is enough to see if it's going to work or not.

The Platinum version costs $20, but I'd suggest upgrading to the pro
version for $27. It's only $7 more, and the performance makes it worth
the price if you're going to be using Sound Taxi to convert more than
just a handful of files.

Kim and list: MP3 Direct Cut is a program that is useful in trimming
files; let's say you have a file that has stuff on the end of it that you
don't need: well..you can run it through this little program and get rid
of it! There are other uses for it as well, but I'll save that for others

Hi. You can't convert .RAR files to MP3. .RAR files are a kind of
digital

envelope. It is a compression tool for multiple file types. If you have
say 100 files you want to send to a friend, some might be WAVE, some mp3,
others might be .AVI or Flac etc. The point is you can compress all
these
files into one zipped file and in the process it compresses the files to
a

smaller over all size making it easier and more convenient to upload. To
compress and then extract the files you need a programme called either
.zip
or 7zip or winrar. Windows XP has a built in basic compression tool as
does

windows 7. Walter.

Something's wrong there, definitely. Try a program called WinLame. It's a

something like this, especially when converting a whole batch of files.

An electric autoharp is a pretty good description. The autoharp is the
acoustic instrument on which the QChord was modeled, because of the chord
layout of the buttons on both instruments, and the strum plate on the
QChord, which mimicks the string bed on the autoharp. Shane Jackson did a
demo of the QChord on Blind Cool Tech, and that demo is here:

http://www.archive.org/download/ShaneJacksonbct376Qchord/bct376Qchord.mp3
I did a demo on the autoharp and its layout on BCT as well, and that link
is here:

http://www.archive.org/download/MatthewBullisbct355AutoharpDemo/bct355AutoharpDemo.mp3
Enjoy both recordings.

I wanted to put several chapters of a show into one whole show, but when I
use MP3 Merge it only puts one file in the output folder; doesn't recognize
the other files in the selected group. I could be missing a step there so
if anyone knows what I might be doing wrong please let me know.

I also have MP3 Direct Cut, but I can't find the append to file in menus
anywhere. It might be a newer version and this got removed, I don't know.
Would I be better off getting an older version of this? Just wondering
how to do this or if there's an even better program for joining MP3's.

Thanks.

Hi Keith,
if you burn the AVI file as a data file with Nero Burning Rom, and your DVD
is less than three years, the DVD player should work.

Hi,

Can you plese suggest a really accessible program that I could use to burn
.AVI files on to a DVDRW disk for use in a home DVD player?

I tried Nero vision and I found it totally unuseable.

Thanks all over every freaking place guys.!.

Let us know if that worked for you by using Nero to make a data DVD from
those .avi files you have and then using your home DVD player to play them
back. I sure didn't know this was possible to make them play on home DVD
player. Usually you have to convert the .avi files to DVD using a
converter program. Why are you using a DVD RW disc? You should only use a
DVD -R or +R blank disc. Most players now support both disc types but
check your manual to be sure of this.

If you have Replay AV 8 latest version you get Replay Converter
application which will do the .avi conversion to DVD NTSC (USA, Canada and
some other countries). I know the program is accessible because I use it
and am a beta tester for them. I use JAWS 10. These .avi files how did you
obtain them? From a camera?

You can also do DVD PAL format disc for playback in most other countries
with Replay Converter.

Applian makes Replay AV which comes bundled with Replay Converter. They
have 30 day money back guarantee if it doesn't work for you the video
conversions to DVD disc.

Contact Leslie Bee at
les...@applian.com

Website
http://www.applian.com

I have done .avi file conversions to DVD disc myself in the past. These
.avi files were from a digital camera that records in .avi format.

I think .RAR is akind of hyperzip, or a superset of the .ZIP format. Have
had good luck with the program Winwrar or Winrar having seen it with and
without the extra W.

There's a liberal evaluation period and it's about $39.00. They actually

Hi Robert Doc Wright,
what version of soundtaxi are you using?
I've used Platinum, and now I'm using pro, which is suppose to be 50 time

I don't see any difference, and I have a quad core computer, with 3 gigs of
ram.

I converted a 82 Mb file, and it took 3 hours.
If you know of any way to speed this up, let me know.

Re: Batch Conversion With Sound Taxi

2009-01-29 Thread Arthur Barney

Hi Robert Doc Wright,
don't you mean 32 mb's,
instead of 32 gigs?

I have platenum. The largest file I've converted was 32gigs and I don't
recall it takeing even an hour.Unfortunately I cannot say why it took that
long for you.

Hi Robert Doc Wright,
what version of soundtaxi are you using?
I've used Platinum, and now I'm using pro, which is suppose to be 50 time
faster.
I don't see any difference, and I have a quad core computer, with 3 gigs
of

ram.
I converted a 82 Mb file, and it took 3 hours.
If you know of any way to speed this up, let me know.
Thanks,
Arthur Barney

Hi Rob,
I also have Sound Taxi, and to my knowledge, you don't really need
scripts

in order to convert files.

I just purchased Sound Taxi to convert my digital music from WMA lossless
to
MP3 format to play in an MP3 player. Are there JAWS scripts or a
demonstration for using Sound Taxi?

Re: ripping audio from dvd's: which package is better

Hi Dean,
DVD Audio Extractor works great, but I don't know if it will do more than
replay, because I've never used it.

I will sometimes want to take audio from dvd's and convert it to mp3. I
imagine most of the dvd's whose content will interest me will be
unprotected, but maybe I'll want to save the audio from some movie
sometime.

I already have Replay Converter, which does some of this, but only with
unprotected dvd's. Dvd Audio Extractor is easy to use, and I could buy it
if need be. But I'd like to know if it will convert more dvd's than
Replay

Converter will, or if the two have pretty similar capability.

Thanks.

Dean
