You should be able to find it at
www.adobe.com
The last price I remember seeing was $226 or something close to that. It
has been over a year or so.

I don't use Studio recorder, I use Sound Studio and I use add-on plug- ins
for Noise Reduction, they can be used with Sound Forge, Adobe Audition,
Sonar or anything else which handles Direx plug-ins, hope I got the spelling
of that right.

I don't use Studio recorder, I use Sound Studio and I use add-on plug-
ins for Noise Reduction, they can be used with Sound Forge, Adobe
Audition, Sonar or anything else which handles Direx plug-ins, hope I
got the spelling of that right.

for the price Gold wave is a really nice audio editor, you don't really need

Taht sounds fair enough particularly on your first point, Sound

I've done it both with and without the scripts. Right now, I am not using
the scripts.

Just curious, what do you feel Goldwave has going for it that Sound
Forge doesn't? I can sort of see where you're coming from, I use the
editor in Total Recorder allot these days because in some ways its
more flexible than the one that Sound Forge offers and of course,
being a Mac user, Sound Studio is used every day here.

Well then I am at a loss as to why it's not working for you. The only thing
I could reccommend is to uninstall goldwave and remove your scripts.
Re-install goldwave and verify everything works correctly and then install
the scripts again and verify the additional things work. I suppose you
could also try to recompile the goldwave scripts for JAWS 8 but that wasn't
necessary here so I don't think it would be necessary there. Sorry I can't
be of anymore help than that. Maybe someone else here can add something I
haven't?

Your scripts should be ok for goldwave 5.12 if your using version 5.51 of

Hi Rick.

I have Goldwave 5.12 installed, while the scripts are numbered 5.15. I
wouldn't have thought that would create a discrepancy. I guess I'm reluctant
to download the current version of Goldwave, which I believe might be 5.17,
and do the setting all over again. Your thoughts?

Yes, I'm careful to maximize the Goldwave window. I notice now that
insert-pagedown announces the elapsed time as the recorded file plays, but
no other information, such as the file's total duration. I wonder if I've
mistakenly made a setting that cuts short the status line.

Thanks for your tutorials. They're a big help. I created these settings from
yet a third tutorial I came across earlier this year. You're definitely not
to blame, and undoubtedly nor are the other people who took the trouble to
help others learn this program.

Re: Basic goldwave Questions

2006-12-12 Thread Adrian Spratt
Hi Rick.

I have Goldwave 5.12 installed, while the scripts are numbered 5.15. I
wouldn't have thought that would create a discrepancy. I guess I'm
reluctant to download the current version of Goldwave, which I believe might
be 5.17, and do the setting all over again.

I created these settings
from yet a third tutorial I came across earlier this year. You're
definitely not to blame, and undoubtedly nor are the other people who took
the trouble to help others learn this program.

Re: Basic goldwave Questions

2006-12-12 Thread Rick Harmon
Green play is best for playing selected audio and yellow is best for
playing unselected audio. hope I don't have this backwards.

Each tutorial and person are going to have there prefered ways they like to
set up goldwave. So use them all with a grain of salt and setup things the
way you will most likely use them.

Re: Basic goldwave Questions

2006-12-12 Thread Rick Harmon
Hi,

Make sure Goldwave is maximized before getting status info by pressing
Insert + PGDN 3 keys

Make sure you have the right scripts for the right version of goldwave
installed and in the proper folders for the version of JAWS you are using.

BTW are you using Goldwave 5.xx or 4.26? There are different keyboard short
cuts for 4.26 and this could be your problem.

Subject: Basic goldwave Questions

I have been working with John Wilson's and Rick Harmon's Goldwave tutorials.
I have followed their recommendations for settings and have been trying to
replicate their actions. However, I'm running into the following problems
and hope the people on this list can help.

1. F4, the green play button, won't work unless I first press another key,
in this instance F6, fast forward. By contrast, shift-F4, for yellow play,
works without a hitch.

2. Pressing insert-3 for the insert line gives me no useful information.
JAWS says, "File. Action..." but no numbers. Similarly, alt-shift-d and
the other partial status info shortcuts don't read anything.

Note that I do have JAWS Goldwave scripts installed. I've confirmed it with
JAWS key-0 and also by pressing JAWS key-1, where the JAWS-scripted
keystroke functions are reported. For example, pressing alt-shift-d in this
mode causes JAWS to verbalize something along the lines of, "says duration
of the file."

One more fact, in case it's relevant. I installed the Goldwave scripts
earlier this year into my JAWS 6.2 folder, but hardly ever practiced with
goldwave and don't recall how they worked. Now that I'm seriously applying
myself, I've been switching back and forth between 6.2 and 8.0. I'm getting
the same limited amount of goldwave script information in both versions,
though I realized today that I never copied the Goldwave scripts into my
JAWS 8 folders. JAWS 8 tells me that the Goldwave scripts are, indeed,
installed.

Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Adrian
