Important thing is to use jaws-key z first to turn off the virtual cursor
otherwise it will not work. Tab to the mute button and use up arrow to

Unfortunately I did not follow this thread as I did not have this problem.

But now it has happened to me also!

My youtube seems to have been muted. I can find an unmute button but there

If I right click within the flash area and go to settings, I can also find
this unmute button but I find no way of activating it. If I route jaws to

Any help?

I had to use NVDA. I couldn't fix it with Jaws. When you're on the page, hit
O, then hit enter. You can then use the up arrow key to turn up the volume.
Pressing the unmute button didn't work for me either, so I guess the problem
is that the volume is down.

I was not able to do this in
jfw either. You can do it in NVDA. To turn the volume back up right click
on the flash area, use the up and down arrows to go to settings. Click on
settings. Then hit the up arrow and while playing a video you will hear the
volume rise. I hope this helps.

There might be a way to fix it with Jaws, but I didn't find one. Call FS,
they might know. At least NVDA is free so anyone can get it for moments like
this. And you don't even have to install it. You can just run it.

So if this happens (and if someone doesn't have NDVA) then I guess we're
just screwed? I haven't done anything with You Tube in the past several
days, but would be nice to know that (if this happens to me) there'd be a
workable solution as some of us just don't have someone with sight that we

I had to use NVDA. I couldn't fix it with Jaws. When you're on the page, hit

O, then hit enter. You can then use the up arrow key to turn up the volume.
Pressing the unmute button didn't work for me either, so I guess the problem

is that the volume is down.

How did you bring up the volume? What did you hear? Which control? Which
screen reader are you using? Because I can find this volume to work here.
All your steps work except when it comes to increasing the volume up.

It should work. I did have that button button button problem that you

the tricky part. I assume that visually it is obvious. All I can say is
that after just a little fiddling it has worked. I wish I could give you
specific guaranteed directions but that flash area can throw one off a bit.

JAWS users should try the following, it worked for me with versions 13 and
14.

Go to the top of the page and hit insert plus z. You should hear JAWS

Now just keep tapping on the tab key until your on the mute button. Now
leave the tab key, and use the up arrow key to, hopefully, increase the

List, there's one final thing I forgot to say.

After using the arrow key
to increase the volume, you must hit insert key z to turn back on your
virtual cursor.

Hi Peter,

I assume in your case the volume would stay up. I had difficulty with that
do to the fact that in my attempts to fix the problem I messed around in a
few functions within Explorer10 and windows8 and disabled something. I was
able to bring that back to normal. I think those settings were just a
factor in my specific situation. In addition I went through so many
different settings before I fixed the problem that I don't remember my exact
steps that worked. I should have made a mental note of them but I was so
glad that the problem was fixed I just went on to my next project.

I was not able to do this in
jfw either. You can do it in NVDA. To turn the volume back up right click
on the flash area, use the up and down arrows to go to settings. Click on
settings. Then hit the up arrow and while playing a video you will hear the
volume rise. I hope this helps.

But now it has happened to me also!

My youtube seems to have been muted. I can find an unmute button but there

If I right click within the flash area and go to settings, I can also find

Re: YouTube Problem Fixed

2013-10-04 Thread Dave Scrimenti
Without NVDA, one gets a sighted assistant. I doubt it has anything to do
with piracy. Every sighted person is going to just turn up the volume. So
how is it going to prevent piracy? It has to do with the fact that Google is
made up of a bunch of idiots creating unnecessary problems for everyone. For
example, why doesn't Google voice work properly with lots of tollfree
numbers? And why can you port a cell number but not a landline unless you
first port the landline to your cell?? Answer, because Google is a bunch of
idiots creating unnecessary problems for everyone.

combat piracy; that's probably why they did something to mute the audio.

So if this happens (and if someone doesn't have NDVA) then I guess we're
just screwed? I haven't done anything with You Tube in the past several
days, but would be nice to know that (if this happens to me) there'd be a
workable solution as some of us just don't have someone with sight that we
can call on at the drop of a hat!

I had to use NVDA. I couldn't fix it with Jaws. When you're on the page, hit

O, then hit enter. You can then use the up arrow key to turn up the volume.
Pressing the unmute button didn't work for me either, so I guess the problem

is that the volume is down.

It can be a little tricky. It has worked for me however. Right click
inside the flash, go to settings, not general settings and click on that.
It should work. I did have that button button button problem that you

the tricky part. I assume that visually it is obvious. All I can say is
that after just a little fiddling it has worked. I wish I could give you
specific guaranteed directions but that flash area can throw one off a bit.

I was not able to do this in

on the flash area, use the up and down arrows to go to settings. Click on

2013-10-04 Thread Dave Scrimenti

Yes. Here's the Jaws solution again.
Go to the top of the page and hit insert plus z. You should hear JAWS
announce off.

Now just keep tapping on the tab key until your on the mute button.
leave the tab key, and use the up arrow key to, hopefully, increase the
volume.

down arrow decreases the volume.

when you're done, hit jaws key plus z again to turn the virtual cursor back
on.
I've only had to do it once, but others have had to repeat the fix after
closing the browser.

It can be a little tricky. It has worked for me however. Right click
inside the flash, go to settings, not general settings and click on that.
It should work. I did have that button button button problem that you
described. You have to make sure you are within the flash area. That is
the tricky part. I assume that visually it is obvious. All I can say is
that after just a little fiddling it has worked. I wish I could give you
specific guaranteed directions but that flash area can throw one off a bit.

It should work. I did have that button button button problem that you

the tricky part. I assume that visually it is obvious. All I can say is
that after just a little fiddling it has worked. I wish I could give you
specific guaranteed directions but that flash area can throw one off a bit.

Managed to get it fixed with the Jaws way somebody provided. And mine now
stays right in spite of closing and opening the browser.

Once again thanx for all the help!

Try moving your up and down arrows through the page till you see a line that
says flash start. You should see a set of controls below that. This should
be the flash area or as some call it the imbedded object. I hope this
helps.

Important thing is to use jaws-key z first to turn off the virtual cursor
otherwise it will not work. Tab to the mute button and use up arrow to
increase the volume.

   After using the arrow key

   Hi Peter,

I assume in your case the volume would stay up. I had difficulty with
that
do to the fact that in my attempts to fix the problem I messed around in
a
few functions within Explorer10 and windows8 and disabled
something. I was
able to bring that back to normal. I think those settings were just a
factor in my specific situation. In addition I went through so many
different settings before I fixed the problem that I don't remember
my exact
steps that worked. I should have made a mental note of them but I was
so
glad that the problem was fixed I just went on to my next project.

I was not able to do this in
jfw either. You can do it in NVDA. To turn the volume back up right click
on the flash area, use the up and down arrows to go to settings. Click on
settings. Then hit the up arrow and while playing a video you will hear
the
volume rise. I hope this helps.

Hi all

Unfortunately I did not follow this thread as I did not have this problem.

But now it has happened to me also!

My youtube seems to have been muted. I can find an unmute button but
there
is no way to activate it. Neither the space bar or the enter key works.
If I right click within the flash area and go to settings, I can also find
this unmute button but I find no way of activating it. If I route jaws to
pc to try and left click on it, the jaws cursor cannot find it!

Any help?

Thanks for all the replies regarding my YouTube audio problem. As a result
I was able to fix the problem by right clicking within the flash, going to
settings and then using the up arrow to bring the volume up. Thanks again.
