Dust on K-r sensor
Has anyone noticed the K-r being a bit more dust sensitive than other cameras? I don't think I've been any less careful about dust with the K-r I'm testing for (and about to ship to) Luiz, but at the end of the day, I'm seeing a lot more dust on the sensor. Part of that may have been due to not having the shake off on power up activated until this afternoon, but one thing that is weird about it is that I've seen dust (or small threads) move around on the sensor from shot to shot. I've never noticed that on other cameras, but that seems fairly common on the K-r. -- Larry Colen l...@red4est.com sent from i4est -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

is it going to be primary handheld or can you see him using a flexible arm attached to his wheelchair with the camera mounted on it? unfortunately, all the solutions I have in mind are probably too costly. found whilst reading a D7000 review
Mike Johnson had a link ot his buddy's review of the Nikon D7000, Gordon Lewis of Shutterfinger, and I found these two paragraphs interesting and also my point of view as well, as a two system shooter. [quote] Final Ruminations Some might wonder why I would buy a Nikon D7000 if I already have a Pentax K-7 with several DA lenses. The answer is that I’m not a brand fanatic. I use whatever tools I like and have available to get the job done. Different jobs often require different cameras. I suspect I’m not alone in this regard. As one example, Pentax’s flash system is not as well-designed and sophisticated as those from Canon and Nikon. The Pentax AF-540FGZ struggles in situations where comparable Canon or Nikon flash units produce consistent accurate exposures and color balance. When I’m covering a wedding or an event I need a flash system that makes the job easier, not more difficult. The Pentax flash system isn’t quite there yet. I also have an occasional need for lenses or specialized accessories that are readily available to rent for Canon or Nikon but hard to find for Pentax. In this respect the D7000 is more of a replacement for my Canon EOS 30D than a replacement for the Pentax K-7. The K-7 is still my camera of choice when I’m travelling and want to be able to carry a variety of excellent lenses in minimal space. The D7000 also can’t compete with the fact that any lens I use on the K-7 is image-stabilized. Being able to use a 55mm f/1.4 in low light with shake-reduction is a wonderful thing. Re: Sony A850 vs Pentax K-7 or Boris examines lots of photos
Well, you are at a disadvantage being in Israel and all. I'm less than 200 miles from BH photo. When the K-7 was beginning to ship BH dropped the price of the K20D to $629.00. With free shipping I had it in one day, and since I'm not in NY no NY State, City or County sales tax. Keh.com has a Bargain, (which probably means it looks brand new based on their usual standards), K10D for $275.and a K-7 in EX+ for $725.00, now I haven't looked at the current http://www.keh.com/Camera/format-Digital/system-Pentax-Digital/category-Camera-Bodies?s=1bcode=DPccode=2cc=79277r=WGf I don't know if that link will work just go to their main page and navigate to Pentax Digital camera bodies. Adorama in NY, has the K-7 for about $860, but Pentax USA still considers it a current product, and I bet Pentax USA still has a bunch in stock. I wish I had a better option for you, maybe if you moved to New Hampshire... On 1/15/2011 11:35 AM, Boris Liberman wrote: Just went to the local price watch site. The last time I inquired with the local distributor, K-5 was USD 1750. But that's just the point of the K mount and the 624 mount cameras. They play to an existing user base with a boat load, (relatively speaking in the case of the 645D), of used lenses available. A bigger camera, (and in the case of the 645D I don't think it's any bigger really) is not so much of a problem in when you're working with an installed user base, with all of those yummy legacy lenses. The Auto 110 had what 5 primes, 2 zooms and 1 third party teleconverter. If it goes with the m4:3 standard then the those lenses won't work without an adapter anyway, if they use their own standard, I bet the lenses would cover APS-C, given it's high ISO noise advantage why not just go with an APS-C camera body... Re: Need some help finding a camera for a wheel chair user
From: Tim ?sleby Thanks for the creative solution. I'll introduce the idea to him next time he comes in. One solution we discussed was to find a camera that could be triggered by air pressure from a ball under his arm. Any cameras around that could be used this way? Any camera that has a socket for a standard cable release should work. The new Fuji x100 perhaps, and I think some Nikon cameras (DSLRs - don't know about their point 'n shoot cameras) still had the socket. Something that might work is an adapter that straps around the camera and fits over the shutter release button. http://www.adorama.com/CZCRAS.html - No virus found in this message. Re: New Auto 110?
Then don't try to resurrect the Auto 110. It won't be small. Pentax will come out with it's own EVF camera in due course if they think they'll make money at it. If they want to make money with it they should either make the lenses electronically compatible with the KA standard and supply an adapter that allows K mount lenses to be used with at least 90% of the functionality maintained, or go with m43. An Auto 110D does none of those things. On 1/16/2011 12:01 PM, Steven Desjardins wrote: we're talking small and attractive with IQ. Hey wait a moment. Doesn't Pentax already have a camera system using an APS-C sensor and a legacy lens mount? On 1/15/2011 8:06 AM, John Sessoms wrote: They could do a new Auto110D and give it the same treatment they had to use on the *ist-D. It looks like the old Auto110. It evokes the feel of the old Auto110. It can use the old Auto110 lenses, but it's just a little bit bigger so they can cram the necessary electronics in there. That's all just engineering. Having stated the problem is half-way to solving it. The real question is whether there's a market for it? If Pentax could see the kind of market demand the 645D is generating, the Auto110D would be a viable product. It's a clever idea, but is it a clever enough idea for Pentax to be able to make money out of it? I don't think it is, but I won't mind if I'm proved wrong again. I'd like to have one myself. From: P. J. Alling No they can't. Look at a *ist-D compared to an MX or even a MZ series camera, notice how thick the body is front to back, there's a lot space required for the sensor and electronics that a roll of film doesn't need. There wouldn't be room in a classic Auto 110 body. Nor is there any space for the battery, you'd need to have the /motor/ /drive/ mounted at all times.
