razor and his wrist-watch, a heavy Rolex Oyster Perpetual on an expanding metal

knuckledusters.”

I'm fairly sure that in the early films, up to mid Roger Moore, he wears a
Rolex but not the Oyster. My main (indeed only) claim to fame, however, is
that I have never seen a Bond film in its entirety.

Breitlings were what I lusted after, too. But back when I was an impoverished
student I bought a significantly cheaper brand of chronograph-like watch.
It was handy for timing laps at the (motorsports) track. Of course it was
replaced a decade or two later by a push-button electronic stopwatch that
could do far more different functions (including converting lap time to MPH)
and which cost maybe $20.

I still occasionally wear my Omega Speedmaster Professional - the

I figured if it was good enough for NASA it was good enough for me.
Mostly, though, now I wear a Fitbit smart watch because: a) it lets me

The #2 slot works just fine.

I took a look inside, I saw the piece the #2 slot has that the #1 doesn't. I was
able to press down on remains of that piece so it went "in and clicked", then
when I put a card in, I couldn't take it out until I got a long needle, reached

Also, since you visit Portland and LA every so often, I wonder if
one of the their local repair shops would be willing to look at it.
I've just found this list of repair shops (US is at the bottom)

Re: Blast from the Past: PDML @ GFM 2007

2019-06-06 Thread Scott Loveless
Zombie thread!

That was, indeed, my tent in the background. The Tent Mahal had 3
rooms and was advertised to sleep 11. 6 or 7 was more reasonable. It
died the death last summer. There's a silver Taurus in the
background. That was the rental Annsan and I drove down to the
mountain. It was so comfy on the highway, and just absolutely horrid
on the back roads. It's like no one at Ford ever considered that I
might want to go around a curve at more than 15mph.

I can't find my PDML hat. It's been MIA for years. Anyone go home
that year with an extra? ;)

Re: Stupid camera tricks

2019-06-06 Thread P. J. Alling
KEH.com advertises repairs with the same basic price.  I haven't checked
today, but when I was contemplating getting my K-5II repaired it was
about the same, actually a little less, at $300. I think they actually
care about customer service because it does look like you can contact
them.  Ultimately I found it to be less expensive to replace the K-5II,
but then again I didn't own a K-1.

Yes, I've tried multiple slots.

Does it work in the #2 slot?

The #2 slot works just fine.

I took a look inside, I saw the piece the #2 slot has that the #1
doesn't. I was able to press down on remains of that piece so it went
"in and clicked", then when I put a card in, I couldn't take it out
until I got a long needle, reached in next to the card and pressed down
on the remains of that little metal bit.

I would now be concerned that there is a loose bit inside the body
that could interfere with or damage the rest of the workings.

I would be also, but it costs $353, plus shipping, to get it repaired
whether it's a mainboard or a cheap little piece of metal.  There is
also no way of contacting them via email.

I figure that the less that I have to do with precision camera the
better my life will be.

Meanwhile, my 256G SD cards arrived today, so it should be a very rare
circumstance that I'll need to replace the memory cards

Yes, the weather was pretty nice this year. Some storms threatened but
never quite materialized: John Weber and I hiked up MacRae Peak on
Friday but turned around without going on to Atic Window because it
looked threatening. Still got some good photos. On Saturday morning we

Here's a short clip. I blew it, I was taking stills of Mombird feeding,
forgetting for a bit that I could get video. Once I wandered away from
the window Dadbird even came by to feed.

Here's a still of Mombird feeding a chick
https://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/48011662138/

Video taken on a K-3II with a bigma 50-500 from my living room
diagonally across to outside my dining room at a distance of about 15'/5m.

Here's the video

The full album is ridiculously long, I thought they'd all be gone by
now. Yesterday two of the babies left so I'm down from four to two birds.
