Say WHAT? They do what they have to do to come up with what the engineers and marketing have specified. Whatever they have to do to get there is fair game. I suggest that they are showing their keen expertise, by using all tools/techniques at hand, to come up with meeting those specifications. Your belittling and questioning of why and how they got there is amazing to me! Have you ever participated in a full-blown design exercise, the end product of which was meant to be sold in tough competition world-wide, and you're having to use every new and innovative technique you can thnk of, not to say cutting edge technology, to get there? That isn't a lifeboat situation, it's a common happening within very high tech operations. I applaud their efforts! keith whaley Chris Brogden wrote: > > Now, a more cynical person might suggest that if Pentax doesn't have to > spend money on SMC'ing everything and cranking out aspherical elements, > they won't. You are right Mike, I thought for a moment that the original poster was telling me that an f/2.6 lens in a digital camera was equal to an f/1. lens in 35mm format. On another note, I own a Dimage 7 but still get more enjoyment out of my 6x9 totally mechanical beasts. Photography hasn't been so much fun since my original all manual 35mm cameras. Jeff. Is there manual exposure in Optio S? There is no "Metered Manual" mentioned in the Exposure mode. There is a "User" setting shooting mode - is this equilvalent to manual exposure? And it also seems that none of the Optio range offers aperture or shutter priority exposure. Hi All, It is truth that digital can rule very soon! It is amazing you can see you photos so quickly and in case it is not up to your expectation one can repeat them.Recently I carried out weathering research in my department and took some destroyed specimens using digital old Kodak 215 and some photos were not so good so I could return to lab and repeat it.
