"For Trial/Guest Members (that is, non-subscribers), photo.net provides an allowance for Gallery photos, mainly so that you can participate in the Photo Critique Forum. Your basic quota is 5 images, plus an "extra" allowance of images based on your participation and how popular your images are. The computation of the number of extra images will be done periodically by photo.net and may fluctuate, up or down, without notice. If you are relying on this "extra" allowance to keep images in your portfolio, you should check from time to time whether your quota has changed in order to avoid being over-quota. We don't disclose the method we use for determining the "extra" allowance; but your quota will be at least your "basic" quota of 5, PLUS the number of photos that you have submitted to the Photo Critique Forum for critique or rating. So, in effect, photos that you submit to the Photo Critique forum will not count against your quota." -- -Jon Glass Krakow, Poland <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

No more "100 free uploads". I don't know exactly what it is now, as they have some arcane (and unpublished) formula based on one's participation in the photo rating game, both as a rater, and as far as how many ratings your photos have. So, my number of "freebies" went from 100, down to 46, now it's up to 50. But, they still let you upload if you're over your limit, it's just that they may delete some of your photos without notice if they need the space. Or, something like that. Hi Steve I can recommend signing up with www.Flickr.com It's free (for a certain, limited upload each month), it's very easy and it's brilliant. For instance it has a slide slow option. It's has a free download-software option. Check it out! Also there's www.fotopic.net shich gives you 250 Mb of free space! There are other free websites for pics as well. all the best Jens Bladt mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hjem.get2net.dk/bladt -Oprindelig meddelelse- Fra: Albano Garcia [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sendt: 31. december 2004 19:27 Til: pentax-discuss@pdml.net Emne: Re: PESO, PAW, etc.-How to post? Cory, Thanks for that reply! I just checked my ISP's web site, which is Comcast, and apparently I can use 175MB of free storage! That should do it. Has anyone else used Comcast's storage service? I have not yet read the fine print, but I assume I maintain copyrights? Thanks again! Now for the tedious job of searching thru my photos and figuring out how to upload them. TIA! == If you are on something like AOL or another common ISP, you usually have a certain amount of FTP allotted to you. You have to learn how to access it, create your own HTML pages, add the photo (scan or digital). Make your photos jpgs about 800X600 pixels so they will load quickly for others. You can make an index page with thumbnails of all your PAWs and PESOs. Or you can do what I do, just throw up a photo now and then, then later delete the page and photo (I start running out of ftp space). There are also photo services on the Net such PhotoNet and others (free and not), where you can post your photos. The best way to become familiar with them is just look at the urls when people post their photos on this list. I think about every service is used on this list. When you look at others' photos you see if you like the way the service lays out things. HTH, Doe aka Marnie
Re: PESO, PAW, etc.-How to post?
Steve, To post an image to this list, you have to have it on the web somewhere. The biggest public gallery here is the PUG (Pentax User's Gallery). It's at: http://pug.komkon.org/ Submission information and monthly themes are accessed from links on that page. Also, check out the large catalog of previous month's work. it's a GREAT way to spend s day at work goofing off :) There are many places on the web that you can upload your photos to. Most cost money. Make sure you check the fine print for their copyright information. You don't want to give them permission to use your photos however they want... And check with your ISP. There's probably a small amount (10MB) of storage space that you get with your monthly service. It can be very confusing at first but once you get the hang of it and can remember what the URLs are, it's pretty easy to use your ISPs space. Good luck! Re: PESO, PAW, etc.-How to post?
Good questions, Steve, I will add this information to the mini-FAQ, but am answering it here as well to make sure you see it. For PESO/PAW/WOW/ETC, you put it up on the web somewhere and post a URL in your message. You can not post photos directly to the list, the list management software will automatically delete your post. For the more formal monthly PUG (http://pug.komkon.org/) there is a link to instructions at the bottom of the page. Photos for the PUG must be made with Pentax equipment. For the others that is preferred, but not required. graywolf http://www.graywolfphoto.com "Idiot Proof" <==> "Expert Proof" --- Steve Pearson wrote: Can someone point me to a URL on how to post photos to the various Pentax galleries?
