I root around in the house (I'm a packrat) until I find something that looks useful. One time, I just cut enough of the corner of a milk jug to cover the flash aperture and scotch taped it in place. 1. Find something 2. Cut it to shape 3. Tape/glue/weld/solder it in place 4. From: Jeffery Johnson Thanks Larry but I am looking more at making a diffuser that I can use with the built in popup flash. I will need to do some research on older flashes that are safe to use with the K-R before I even consider getting an older model flash. Cut a section out of the side bottom of a milk jug. Make it larger than you think it needs to be. Heat the bend a little with a hair dryer to soften it and bend the angle to fit the angle of the popped-up flash. Also put a little bit of a bow in the side portion of the jug. Put self stick Velcro dots on the inside of the milk jug bottom and on top of the pop-up flash to hold it in place - so the side section is held out in front of the flash a little bit. Trim to fit. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Re: OT: Three so far
Thanks for sharing, Jeffery. The cassowary is a very unusual and interesting bird, and your image portrays it quite strongly. Somehow, however, I like the simplicity and symmetry of the peony more. Like you, I'm a bit intimidated by portrait photography. If you have an interest in that area, however, just jump in and do it, even if you don't have all the high end lighting gear. There is quite a bit you can do with available light, and if you experiment with it, you can develop your own portrait style, instead of trying to imitate the pros. Keep posting your work here and on the PPG. Working with our own images and hearing others' reactions to them helps us grow as photographers. Re: OT: Three so far
Well, that's three more than I have. I just haven't got the patience to go through the rigmarole to post at the PPG just to be rejected because no one else appreciates my particular photographic vision or lack thereof. The Cassowary photo is very good, the flower is kind of eh, the Lynx portrait well done too. Nothing to be ashamed of at all. Don't be afraid of people photography because of your equipment. The K-r is a fine tool for available light people photography, in many ways superior to the *ist-Ds I use in places I want to stay relatively unobtrusive. The SMCP-M 40mm f2.8 that more or less lives on it isn't the highest tech, or fastest lens for the purpose either.
