Nice scene but a bit dreary. Could use a warmer white loin, some brightening of

hopefully set some new skill goals, which would take me in new and exciting

Good to see you back. Reminds me of my early years as well. It's nice
to see kids having fun outside without it having to be organized.
There's certainly value in all the organization, but there's value it
just going out and the participants doing the organizing. A friend of
mine was working with a group of kids and he said OK guys, choose up
sides and they just stood around and didn't know what to do.

A minor point - I think I'd like to see it rotated slightly clockwise.

I'm not sure what the subject is here. If it's the statue and the
reflection, they don't really pop out for me.

If it's not the statue reflection, they seem extraneous to me.

If it were my image, I'd crop closer on the left and bottom moving the
statue reflection closer to the lower left corner, keeping it as a
verticle.

I'd also look for some way to make the statue reflection pop out from
the background a little more.

More symeric composition, side side.
Very nice, now if I could only learn to improve like this...

Bruce,

Nice colors, interesting branches, but overall a bit
of a jumble. It could use some simplification.

Re: PESO - Pond

2006-08-02 Thread Powell Hargrave
I like it the way it is. A lovely piece of nature with great depth and detail.
I wonder if those who want to simplify it come from more simple places. My
natural surroundings are mostly as complex and over grown as Bruce's lovely
photo. The OOF foreground maybe could be sharper, but the lack of depth of
focus adds to the 3d effect.

Re: PESO - Pond

2006-08-02 Thread Paul Stenquist
I also like this as presented. This is what a real, natural pond
looks like. it is a complex environment. The slightly out of focus
foreground gives it dimensionality. I don't buy the common crit that
everything must be in focus, or that foreground out of focus is
wrong. The sky, on the other hand, frames the image. It is important
in terms of describing this part of the world. This works. It's an
excellent photograph.

Bruce -

This is beautiful. It's another one of the images that probably looks
much better when printed very large.

See you later, gs
