Just as a heads up guys, its not just Squeezeboxes. I parse the data and
display it on my pronto. I got the mail too.

I guess _any_ account got the mail. I never used mine in months/years, just
created it a long time ago to test weathertime. Didn't even remember it. Until
I got that mail.

I somewhere read that it is possible to make the browser directly play

(How) is it possible to make such a file association?

Thanks.

Zevs,

I think you have a totally different problem (not on OSX, not getting
the missing text message error) but you have a problem.

Please give more explicit details of what works and doesn't work.

1. What version of Windows ?
2. Did you run the mplayer test on installation and did it work ?
3. To make sure AlienBBC plugin has been installed in the correct
directory. What are Plugin paths as detailed on the Settings/Status
page ? What is the full directory path of your AlienBBC Plugin.pm file
?
4. Do you have enabled RTSP entries in Settings/Advanced/Filetypes
5. For which interfaces does an AlienBBC Menu item appear: WebUI,
Softsqueeze, SB3, SBC.
6. For each of the devices where AlienBBC appears - do you get a list
of programs from the AlienBBC/Radio 4 A-Z ?
7. When you try to play a program (e.g. All in the Mind) - what
messages are displayed (e.g. connecting, unknown filetype), if it
connects what do you hear ?

2008-05-01 Thread rbl

To be fair this is a freebie and Inguz is usually extremely quick to
help ... everyone has different systems and these things aren't always
obvious to fix.

I agree with you about the folders. I have tried putting all the files
in plugins\InguzEQ but this didn't seem to help either. So I have no
idea what to do now. Squeezecenter doesn't offer me any real advantages
over Slimserver (although clearly it does for many people). Hence I
think I'll go back to SlimServer until Inguz comes out with an official
squeezecenter version.

You guys are absolutely right. I apologize to Hugh/Inguz. It was my
frustration coming through; this is a labor of love and I should treat
it that way.

Anyway.no luck so far. I'm not going to drop back to a 6.x
release; it's not worth it for me. I have a real skeptical view that
any EQ will add too much noise/distortion/processing to be worth it
(not a slight of Inguz at all; just a view about EQ in general), and
I've spent quite a bit of time and $ with my system (Modwright tube
modified Transporter, etc.) to negtively impact the
resolution/tone/dynamics/etc. My first test will be on the ease of
bypassing the processing. I realize that the success is not all about
added distortion (some will say I already did that when adding tubes)
but about the tradeoffs between getting tone right vs the processing
required to do it. I don't plan on using the DRC portion. My room has
significant room treatments (14 RealTrap bass traps, four first
reflection panels, 2 real wall diffusors) to satisfy my room acoustic
needs right now.

I'll wait it out. Thanks for the help and pointing out my
inappropriate criticsm.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New WeatherTime Screensaver adds graphical forecasts

2008-05-01 Thread dborn

I just went to their site and cancelled my subscription. In any case, I
tried replacing the account IDs by 5 spaces (as mentionned earlier in
this thread...) and it works without a subscription... I don't expect
that to last beyond next week though.

In the meantime, I've installed SuperDateTime with great success. It
doesn't need TWCi's permission because it actually parses the html data
from the website. I downloaded the now unsupported version for V6.5
(because I can't get V7.0 to work on my linkstation. I plan to go to a
real x86 pc soon so it's not worth the trouble).

wunderground has a mobile mode for cell phones which gives the
weather data in html format with minimal noise so this might be a
viable option for WeatherTime (depending what Martin plans to do with
it now). SuperDateTime is fine but it's just a little too busy for my
taste and I don't care for the stock quotes and sport scores myself...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0

2008-05-01 Thread jbloggs

Having a bit of a problem getting Last.FM working with
SqueezeBox/Center:

I have SqueezeScrobbler folder in Plugins folder of SqueezeCenter,
Last.FM shows up on Plugins (Last.FM/SqueezeScrobbler enabled, but I do
NOT have LastFM Audioscrobbler enabled), Advanced and Players tabs in
SqueezeCenter settings, username + password filled in correctly (can
use the same to log into Last.FM website), Scrobbling enabled (which
does work), and it also appears on SqueezeBox screen, but when I go to
select it, it says Error connecting to LastFM! Check username
password.

LastFM does not show up under Internet Radio, on the Home tab of
SqueezeCenter, AlienBBC, Radio Feeds UK Ireland etc work fine.

What could be causing this problem, and how do I remedy it?

Thanks.

still not playing anything.
7. If I try in Softsqueeze it say just EMPTY, in the WebUI I don't get
any error messages, it just seems to start for some seconds, stop and
restart again (no sound), in the Duet the same thing more or less it is
saying is playing but no sound and after 20.-30 seconds it restarts
playing again and so on. In the SB3 it indicates it is playing but no
sound comes out. Weird!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC not working with SC7 upgrade ?

2008-05-01 Thread bpa

Installation looks good and in the right place.

The items on AlienBBC menu are retrieved from BBC website - I think
therer are some network problems/delays and so SC is not waiting long
enough for an answer from BBC.

To see if you can play items - please paste the following URL (Radio 4
live) into the Tune-in box and press play.

rtsp://rmlive.bbc.co.uk/bbc-rbs/rmlive/ev7/live24/radio4/live/r4_dsat_g2.ra

If it plays OK then I think network delays are the issue.

If network timeout is the problem - increase the timeout by changing
Setting/Advanced/Network/Radio Station Timeout from 5 to 30.

Check menus and see if helps ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 forSqueezeCenter 7.0

2008-05-01 Thread Craig, James (IT)
Having a bit of a problem getting Last.FM working with SqueezeBox/Center:

LastFM not showing up in the web interface would seem to indicate something is
wrong with the plugin installation.
I think people have reported this before when the plugin's strings didn't
install correctly.

Firstly, I would suggest stopping SqueezeCentre and deleting the
plugin-data.yaml file, then restarting.
Do a full refresh of the web interface and see if the LastFM entry appears.

If not, try entering the LastFM menu from your squeezebox and check what's
printed in the SqueezeCentre log afterwards.
This might give some indication of what the problem is.

Try running SqueezeCenter from a command prompt. Some kinds of error
output will not show in the log, but will when you run it as c:\program
files\squeezecenter\server\squeezecenter.exe

It is working for me on my setup, so I'm not really sure what could be
wrong. I do know that batch files named without an extension will not
work when the path contains spaces, but I have a .bat and .cmd working.
Hopefully the command line will show something. Try also adding some sort
of echo output, just in case it's the psshutdown command that simply won't
run when called by SC (perhaps you are running as a service and the
command doesn't like that?)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC not working with SC7 upgrade ?

2008-05-01 Thread Zevs

Hi again bpa!

I searched and found this thread.
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45616, that seems to be
very similar problem as I have. I have version 7.1.254 but not the pro
version that Hercules talked about in the thread.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeCenter 7.0 beta versions of my plugins

2008-05-01 Thread neilcoburn

I've just installed the Custom Browse plugin, and really like the
ability to tweak menu structures. One snag though - the ability to
create a Music IP mix by pressing and holding 'play' on the remote
doesn't work when I access a track via the Custom Browse menu
structure. And on the SqueezeCenter web interface, the 'M' Music IP
icon doesn't appear at track level, only at genre and album level. Is
this a bug, or is there a setting somewhere I've missed?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC not working with SC7 upgrade ?

2008-05-01 Thread kidstypike

Excuse butting-in, but I'm having the same problem with AlienBBC,
everthing seems to be OK, except no sound.

I don't know when this started, noticed it this morning.

System:
Windows XP SP2
SqueezeCenter 7.0.1-19242
1xSB3
1xDuet.

Everything else works perfectly, I've been using AlienBBC for a few
weeks no problem until today.
I've just installed the most recent version v2.00_7.0, this has not
helped (except now I get a nice alien face on the SBC) :)

I wouldn't spend any money on Zone Alarm, as I've not got this
installed, just the Windows firewall.

Sorry I can't be of help,

Well, I guess I have to see.. used Comodo for a while but got so tired
of all alerts that kept popping up with increasing frequency as soon as
did almost anything with the computer. So I really like Zonealarm if it
wasn't for this thing :) I guess it is the same issue with RadioTime..
at least it seemed so when I tried that. Is it possible to have
AlienBBC on the Squeezenetwork, that wayone would avoid the problem

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Execute script troubles on SC 7.01

2008-05-01 Thread sellars

Thanks KDF, I will try that out later.
I forgot to mention that I am running SC under a Windows user account.
That user has log on as service and act as part of the os user rights.
I do see a black DOS window pop up on the server's screen whenever I
execute the script
Anyhow, I'll keep you posted.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Softsqueeze volume extremely low

2008-05-01 Thread philippe_44

I have the exact same problem - not found any solution so far (I have 2
Duet and one SB3) + softsqueeze 3 on a PC. On the PC, volume is very
low, especially compared to all other applications (ie playing the same
song with any Windows player simultaneously gives a HUGE difference in
volume). On all hardware receivers, volume is at the right level - did
not find any reason so far.
Running XP SP2, a SoundBlaster Live 5.1, Java MP3 plugin (JPlayer does
not change anything)

I guess it is the same issue with RadioTime.. at least it seemed so
 when I tried that.

Unlikely RadioTime is a directory just like a web site. This issue
could only come intro play when trying to play a stream that needs
transcoding as ZoneAlarm is blocking the use of Named Pipes which are
used by the glue application socketwrapper.exe which is used by SC
when transcoding some stream formats.

Is it possible to have AlienBBC on the Squeezenetwork, that wayone

 altogether ?

No - AlienBBC sets up transcoding of RealAudio into Flac or MP3.
Squeezenetwork does no transcoding - the supported format must be
playable natively by SB such as MP3, WMA, Flac and OGG.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Idea for an application?

2008-05-01 Thread vitoruch

Don't know, folks, it that already exists, just in case:

I have an ipod touch and pretty much like to be connected to
www.allmusic.com enciclopidia and Itunes store, just relaxing and
choosing well rated songs from my preffered artists, and listening to
30 seconds of each song.

Is that any application that could web browse a directory list (by
genre, artist and song - just like squeeze) specifically showing album
ratings and pick tracks (allmusic) - and when U hit play you can listen
to the 30sec samples in your 2-ch stereo, sitted on a sofa with the
remote - squeeze or duet - willing or not to buy or simply learning?

If that already exists - please - where?

Thanks!

I have made my own small RSS feed, and I want to add line breaks in the

Does anyone know of a way to make it work? I have tried both single and

[SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP on Freebsd

2008-05-01 Thread BodgeIT

Hi,
I'm having a few problems running MusicIP on FreeNAS, a 6.3 FreeBSD
distribution.
I'm trying to run it headless, following this guide:

http://www.musicip.com/mixer/server.jsp

I running SC 7.01..19294.
FreeBSD 6.3
FreeNAS .69 3184
MusicIP (Linux x86_1.8)

I've copied the mmm.ini file as directed to /.MusicMixer folder

When running ./MusicMagicServer start, I get:

ELF binary type 0 not known.
./MusicMagicMixer: Exec format error. Binary file not executable.

I can't work out whether it's running or not...I guess not.
Any body else got it working out there?
