Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Lyrics plug-in pquestion : Carly Simon instead of Simon and Garfunkel

2008-08-10 Thread sl789

I've changed Artist to Simon and Garfunkel and it works fine. Not a
big deal - took seconds with mp3tag.

I wrote e-mail to Flavio. Hopefully it's not difficult to fix, but I
don't know how he implemented search nd if he dedicates any time at
all.

I would suggest that if first attempt to search didn't return a
complete match, then scan the string and substitute to and (and
vise-verse ) and made a second attempt.

Overall it's an excellent plug-in - great help especially for people
like me with English as second language.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Updated to 7.1 and now Sirius times out. BOO!

2008-08-10 Thread pixelsmack

I was running the beta 7.1 and Sirius was fine. Updated
software/firmware to the 7.1 final and now Sirius is a no go.

It can scroll through all the channel offerings; it acts like I am
connected to them; but when I hit play it just times out. It even lists
the song it's trying to play.

Any new ports need opening I don't know about? I have the normal ones
open.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Dynamic Playist problem when used in an alarm in 7.2

2008-08-10 Thread Phil Meyer
Erland,

I reported bug 9073:

When an alarm goes off, I see the now playing screensaver. After 30 seconds
into songs, if I try to press keys, the first keypress is ignored or causes
strange things to happen.

Sometimes I briefly see the power-off screensaver or idle screensaver.

A second keypress is often needed, but it depends if I have waited ~30 seconds
since the last keypress (i think this problem is screensaver related, as my
screensaver delay time is 30 secs).

I have the screensaver when playing set to Now Playing.

It appears that this problem only occurs when I have selected a dynamic
playlist as the alarm playist (i.e. I played a favorite without any problems).

The only thing I see in the log to do with Dynamic Playlist is:

[10:08:09.6197] Slim::Web::Settings::handler (145) Preference names must be
prefixed by pref_ in the page template: favouritesname
(PLUGIN_DYNAMICPLAYLIST_FAVIOURITESETTINGS)

[SlimDevices: Plugins] ALienBBC with iPlayerAddonV3 - programs missing

2008-08-10 Thread jimwillsher

SC 7.1.0 with the corresponding AlienBBC version, and the
iPlayerAddonV3.zip file.

If I navigate here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/genres/factual

I see Out of Doors listed, and there is a Listen Again option. Yet
Out of Doors does not appear within the AlienBBC BBC Listen Again
Factual section on my SC. What am I doing wrong?

Many thanks,

[SlimDevices: Plugins] softsqueeze gui does not respond

2008-08-10 Thread Seron

I've got softsqueeze 3.5 running in OS X 10.5.4 with squeezecenter 7.0.1
running in gentoo linux. It does not respond to keystrokes any more but
sometimes displays activity changes. It can however be controlled
through the squeezecenter web-page. Reinstalling does not help nor does
reseting softsqueeze preferences. It used to work when I installed it a
few days ago though.

Does anyone know how I could purge the softsqueeze installation and
configuration files and where they are located on a mac?

If I press a key on the remote (volume up in this case) I get this

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ALienBBC with iPlayerAddonV3 - programs missing

2008-08-10 Thread bpa

It is there under BBC iPlayer Radio Factual (also under A to Z -
O and also using Search).

When you get Factual menu - there should be 191 items on 4 pages.
out of Doors is on Page 3.

If you do not get 191 items then SC web page fetches may be timing out
in which case increase Setting/Advanced/Network/Radio Station Timeout to
say 40.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.Fm connection problem

2008-08-10 Thread rvanderh

Siduhe;327826 Wrote:
This bit of your logs suggests it was going to the official
plugin.Doesn't look right to me. As an experiment - try disabling the
Last.fm Audioscrobbler entirely, then stop and restart SC. Any
 improvement?

Good thought I guess. What I did:
1. disabled lastfm.autoscrobbler and lastfm.radio (did that before
already)
2. disabled lastfm account under settings/player and settings/advanced
3. deleted lastfm account in squeezecenter
4. deleted squeezecenter application on profile at last.fm

The good news: The code you quoted doesn't appear in the logs now
anymore.
The bad news: lastfm under 'internet radio' on the SBC is still not
reachable (the well-known dull click).
The better news: The radiostations I applied under 'my radio stations'
like 'lastfm://user/rvanderh' are working now. These stations didn't
respond until my last changes.
The best news: The duet doesn't interfere with the SB3 anymore. Last.fm
keeps playing and isn't interupted anymore (sofar, cross fingers).
Synchronizing goes well also.

Siduhe, thanks so much for keeping patience with me. I will do some
final testing today and will update this tread with my final advice to
other non-USA/UK/DE last.fm lovers on a duet.

That's not the output from the iPlayer Menu Addon but the old Listen
Again menu.

In fact there is a typo in V3 of the iPlayer Categories and A to Z
menus which gives an error. I have a V4 nearly ready but in the
meantime you can edit the iPlayer.opml file and remove the
'topmenu=1' from the Categories lines and restart SC.

No, I too don't see the BBC iPlayer radio menu entry.

For the avoidance of doubt, I have done this. I previously installed
AlienBBC and it works fine (for live stuff). Today I have extracted the
three files from the iPlayerAddonV3.zip file and placed them into

/var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins/Alien/Addons

and then restarted SC:

/etc/init.d/squeezecenter restart

Does it work with a Random Mix playlist ?

The preference warning can be ignored, it's just a warning of a
deprecated API that will be changed in a future version of

No, I'm sorry. I looked through the logs when I noticed the other Alarm
problem with Dynamic Playlists, but it wasn't related to that. I thought it
was worth mentioning anyway.

I'll keep a close eye on the logs whilst I use SqueezeCenter and see if it

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ALienBBC with iPlayerAddonV3 - programs missing

2008-08-10 Thread bpa

At a guess your AlienBBC installation although marked as 2.01b1 - may
not be correct perhaps some wrong files are left.
However comparing the file listing you gave against the distribution
shows an exact match.

alienbbc.opml can be kept between menu reset perhaps there is something
wrong in it. Try deleting alienbbc.opml which is in the SC playlist
directory or SC's cache directory. As a check favorites.opml should
also be in the same directory.

Delete alienbbc.opml and restart SC and then check menus.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Request : Plugin Multiband Equalisation

Ok, had a long play with this and i conclude that the EQ isn't working
at all. You can select the 9 band eq, select the freq. alter the db
range, save the settingz, etc, but unless i've missed a 'turn eq on'
setting, none of the changes actually do anything. Sound is exactly the
same as previous.
Other effects such as 'wide' etc also do nothing. hum. Any clues?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.Fm connection problem

2008-08-10 Thread rvanderh

Okay it seems things keep working. My advice to non-USA/UK/DE
last.fm/duet users:
- Keep the inbuilt plugins audioscrobbler and last.fm disabled in
squeezecenter/settings/plugins. They don't work for you and will
prevent squeezescrobbler to work like you want it.
- If you already did enable audioscrobbler and applied your last.fm
account in squeezecenter/squeezenetwork you are in trouble. last.fm now
knows you are scrobbling their service and because you are non-USA/UK/DE
they will disable listening to last.fm to you. It can be very confusing
because the service is not completely and permanently closed to you.
You can listen to last.fm stations via internet-radios/myownstations
(f.i:lastfm://user/username), but sooner or later last.fm will stop
playing. The solution is: remove all your last.fm accounts in all
places which are needed for the inbuilt last.fm function:
1. squeezecenter/player/audioscrobbler
2. squeezecenter/advanced/audioscrobbler
3. squeezenetwork/accounts/lastfm
4. lastfm/settings/tab_applications/squeezecenter(remove this)
- install squeezescrobbler version 1.1.2
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=105780package_id=247364
- You will find last.fm stations under 'internet radio', but they don't
work for you. You will only hear a dull click and no music.
- Just make your own last.fm radio stations under
radio_stations/my_radio_stations, like
lastfm://user/$username
lastfm://user/$username/recommended
lastfm://group/$groupname
lastfm://globaltags/$tagname
lastfm:/$artistname/similarartists
- You won't be able to send 'loves' or 'bans' via the duet. I only know
one solution: buy an older squeezebox, SB3 works perfect with last.fm

Hope my struggle will other people help to overcome theirs.

Happy listening, Rik

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ALienBBC with iPlayerAddonV3 - programs missing

2008-08-10 Thread jimwillsher

You're a star, and I owe you big time for this!

I'm in the process of migrating my Linux server to a Windows server. I
still want SC to run under Linux, the same as I want Apache and Postfix
to run under Linux, and as such my dedicated Linux server will be a VM
on my Windows server. To this end, all my music and playlists are held
on the Windows server, which is then accessed from the /mnt/
filesystem.

Deleting the alienbbc.opml and restarting SC highlighted a permissions
error, in that the playlist file on the mount could not be corrected.

I now have the iPlayer :) :) :)

THANK YOU BPA

Really pleased you got this working! Even with a Duet, you can
Love/Ban using the web interface, but you're quite right that you won't
see Love/Ban as an option using the Controller using Squeezescrobbler.
One workaround is to install the Retro Browser plugin which emulates
the old SB3 interface on the Controller.

Using Settings/Player/Menu promote the Last.fm/Squeezecrobbler menu
option to the top level of the Duet Player menu. Then just go into
Retrobrowser you can access the option on the Controller. Not as
convenient to be sure, but usable - it's what I did using the inbuilt
plugin before Last.fm support was integrated into the Controller. I'm
told that Last.fm are very much looking to increase the coverage of the
inbuilt plugin, but it's a slow process negotiating the relevant
agreements with each individual jurisdiction.

OK, you're right, seems to have changed.
Problem is, you have to know what you do when taking the distribution
apart and all other platforms don't have that. So it's not a good
workaround from a plugin distribution perspective.

There might be a difference if you use a standard static saved playlist
or a dynamic playlist (provided by Random Mix or Dynamic Playlist
plugin). I think these two cases are a bit different both in the alarm
handling code but also in the play code.

However, from SqueezeCenter's point of view, a playlist provided by
Random Mix or Dynamic Playlist should be pretty similar. So if you find
a bug in both these cases, report it as a bug report on Random Mix which
is part of the SqueezeCenter package, this way my life gets a bit
simpler since I only have to provide the same fix in Dynamic Playlist
later when Random Mix has been fixed.

Otherwise you would have to install in two places.
Also I AM sure it didn't work any other way until a few months ago
