Yes, but once it's done, it's done, and if you check the old value before
you change it you can tell the user that they need to restart their server
if needs be..

Also if you install a newer SC over the top it'll (probably) keep the pref,
but nuke the .tt file..

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2009-01-16 Thread tamade

Hi, I have just installed the Wave Input on my Media Center, while it
was working fine and sounded good, but it had the lag around 3-4
seconds. Below is my setup spec.

What version of Sc ? 7.3.1
What sort of PC and audio (e.g. laptop, integrated audio ) ?
Integrated, with RealTek AC97 driver
What sort of player ? Boom.
Does you PC have any other audio sources which could be active such
as microphone, something connected to line-in, Tuner card ? No other
sources were active.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Fantastic plugin I must say, perfect for my setup where Boom could
become the wireless speakers for my projector in my bedroom setup. Need
to fix this lagging problem tho. :)

Right.
I just checked the repo filelocation from bpa and erland, they have the

changeable and you'll always get the latest revision. Or am I missing

Depends on the amount of installations of the plugin. 100, 1000, 1,

But given the size of the XML file, that would still be a reasonable

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2009-01-16 Thread bpa

You can't fix the lag = it can be reduced a little(e.g maybe down to
about 1 sec) but it is mainly due to buffering by app in PC
(wavin2cmd.exe) and in SC and a small amount of network delays.

When using SC to sync with video with audio you need to use a special
player such as mplayer or vlc where audo /video timing can be split
(i.e. make audio lead video to compensate for SC delay) - but it is a
hit/miss setup.

Better to connect audio connection from audio source into Line-in of
Boom.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC - Constantly Rebuffering

2009-01-16 Thread bpa

Could be a timecapsule issue

AlienBBC uses RealAudio port 554 which is correct for RTSP

PC browsers and RealPlayerplaying BBC will use port 80 (i.e RTSP over
HTTP) if port 554 is blocked. It looks like there is some issue with
Timecapsule blocking port 554. This happened when Airport Express was
initially released as well - there was a fix so you need to check it
out.

See.

http://flowusers.com/discussions/viewtopic.php?f=3t=143

Evoke radio (and all radio using receiva chipset) only use port 554 and
so can have same problem as AlienBBC.

This users seems to think port 7070 may be the issue.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New WeatherTime Screensaver adds graphical forecasts

2009-01-16 Thread servies

Martin,

I created a new branche (7.2 version) within the weathertime repository
and added all changes mavit and rubbermp3 made. I also added the
translations which were provided by several persons on this forum and
fixed the translation errors (mainly Dutch) I could find.
For myself I made a testversion of it and up to now it's running fine.
If it really is working ok, the only thing you still have to do is give
the install.xml a new versionnumber and create an installable version of
the plugin and possibly create a setup for the 'extension downloader'...

Btw, what's the problem with the code.google.com repository? If I
create a folder with a whitespace in it's name it somehow creates 2
folders One with the whitespace and and with %20 in its name...
Never had that problem with the svn repository at work...

In AlienBBC settings - try changing Fast Start to disabled.

The symptoms are not quite what I would expect from using Fast Start
but it only affects Listen Again streams. This will result in Listen
Again taking about 10-15 secs to start.

 Dec.

Thanks for this info Brian. I decided to be brave and install 7.3.2.
Here are my findings:

1. When you play all items for a show like Morning Edition the 2nd
story starts after the first story ends, so that issue is fixed, yea!

2. If you tap FWD on the remote you go to the next story - not sure if
this was working in 7.3.1, nice.

3. If you press and hold FWD on the remote you can fast forward scan
through the story - not sure if that was working before - this is
nice!

4. Issue if you do 3, and scan to the last, say, 20 sec of the story,
the end of the story will play, but the subsequent story doesn't start
as it should.

5. 4 is not such a problem because if you do 2, whatever story you jump
to will play and the playlist will continue at this point.

Thanks for your work Brian. This is my most used and favorite,
plugin!

* the next story plays

The other side effect of not using Fast Start is that FFW/REW will

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Can't handshake with lastfm.com server

2009-01-16 Thread BigTony

I installed SC7.3 on a new machine over the holidays, and I've just
looked at my lastfm.com site and noticed that nothing has been added
since this change. I checked my settings, and everything seems to be in
order (plugin installed, account activated etc).

So I deleted my account in SC7.3 and put the details in again, but it
won't let me. The error it returns is 'Unable to hanshake with
lastfm.com server due to clock error, please reset your system clock
and try again'. Well I must say its a first for me, the clock is right,
and no amount of changing it backwards of forwards makes any difference.
Anyone have any ideas as to what to do next?

Cheers

The plugin is selected on the server plugins page. The settings on the
server side are preserved from the previous version (weather zip code,
teams to follow, etc.). I'm not sure about the player-side settings.
Under Time/Weather format string the area under Default Mode has both
drop downs set to Off and the fields there are all blank. I'm not sure
what, if anything, I should be putting in there.

This is an old original Squeezebox 1 player, so no graphics support or
anything fancy.

Any ideas on why I'm not getting any screensaver display at all?

Thanks.

- Jeff

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugins do not install

What version of SqueezeCenter are you running?

It may be that they are not unziping properly or you left an extra
folder level when you unzipped.

I second snarly's suggestion for using the Extension Downloader in SC
7.3 or higher. Makes it much easier.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New WeatherTime Screensaver adds graphical forecasts

2009-01-16 Thread tcutting

Well, I reviewed my strings.txt file, and it actually has the
PLUGIN_WEATHERTIME_WIND_NORTH
strings in it. I suspect there maybe something in the file that is not
allowing this string setting to be found. I am running squeezenter on
Ubuntu Linux on WindPC. I thought it might be the foreign characters
in the txt file, but when I tried changing this, squeezecenter would
choke on the character encoding and die right away, so I changed back.
Any suggestions?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 1.1 for SqueezeCenter 7.1+

2009-01-16 Thread BodgeIT

Hi Michael, as above, I no longer have SqueezeCenter in my list of
extensions and my Slimp3 wont connect.

Using the following:
1.1.3 Slimnas,
0.69 Kwisatz Haderach (revision 4267) FreeNAS embedded.
7.4-24609 SqueezeCenter.

Pretty sure it only happened after last upgrade on FreeNAS although
haven't used slimp for a couple of days.

Can't find anything in FreeNAS logs or in SlimNas logs, it's like it's

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugins do not install

Do you use Vista ?

If you do, I'm guessing that your problem is the Vista unzip bug which
can't unzip some zip archives correctly. Look in my announcement thread
for a link to a hotfix or preferably use the Extension Downloader to
install instead which can unzip the files correctly.

You will need at least SqueezeCenter 7.1.0 if you like to run my
plugins, so if you are using 7.0.x that's the problem.

Make sure you have removed them from the server/Plugins directory
first, then make sure you have restarted SqueezeCenter.

If you have already done this, you you get any error message ?

If you look in the SqueezeCenter log file after you have restarted
SqueezeCenter, do you see any errors ? The log is found through web
interface in SqueezeCenter Settings/Advanced/Logging.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] faulty softsqueeze startup with linux (kubuntu)

2009-01-16 Thread mudlark

Hi folks,

the main bug that bothers me is that sometimes softsqueeze starts and
sometimes it doesn't. Today's build 7.3.2 - 24679 works fine.

Othertimes the damn thing tries to start, but dies immediately.

Flirefox says that it uses javaws for jnlp files. (What is javaws? I am
guessing that it is the java webstart tool?)

Can anyone shed some light on this even with the limited information
that I have provided?

Mike.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Album Catalog Creator 1.0

2009-01-16 Thread mkgolden1

First, let me say this is a completely wonderful, fantastic piece of
work (which I think I have told you a few times at least). But, an
'enhancement request' if you might consider it?

I often choose to print the music catalog without tracks displayed. I
also have multiple multi-CD boxsets. What I would like to happen is on
both the Quickref and the standard catalog page to get the Disc printed
as well, filled to two digits to avoid the 1 and 10, etc sort issues.

For the music catalog itself, perhaps it could be placed with the year?
For now I think for sorting it could be by date then by disc number?
For perhaps further degrees of complication, I sometimes timestamp an
album within a boxset. Say, Charlie Parker has a 9 CD set, with
various dates for each CD. I would want the set to sort based upon the
disc number, then by date. But that isn't so important.

For the quickref, if it could be just another column perhaps, and
sorted within that item by the disc number?

I hope this makes sense, trying to get some screen shots but I am
having trouble capturing them. I'll try to add late.

Again, a wonderful piece of work.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2009-01-16 Thread Cockeye

I bought a squeezebox earlier this week and it is absoluely awesome.
Works really fast, plays in good quality and is just superb.

Was thinking about the Logitech fancy remote thing but was told could
do the same thing on my iphone 3G with iPeng so I bought it.

Sadly, so far it seems to be £5.99 wasted - although that could well be
down to me rather than the prog.

My setup is a networked hard drive plugged into my home hub, with all
my music on it. I then have my squeeze center installed on a laptop,
with itunes integration on.

Basically, although my squeezebox works fine with my bundled remote,
every screen press on my iphone takes (and I have been sad enough to
time it) between 80 seconds (at the best) to upwards of 3 minutes at
worst (I gave up after 3 minutes).

Does anyone have any idea what is going on as it seems to have
potential, but I don't really want to have wasted £5.99 :(

I have no performance issues on my network at all other than this.
Stream video and audio seamlessly.

Thanks in advance

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugins do not install

2009-01-16 Thread erland

I would prefer if you posted the log file, you should see where it's
stored in SqueezeCenter Settings/Advanced/Logging, the screen shot
only shows half of the log.

However, what I can see from the log is that you have installed Title
Switcher but you haven't installed Music Information Screen (or
MusicInfoSCR as it short name is) which is required for it to work.

What I would suggest is:
1. Shutdown SqueezeCenter
2. Remove all my plugins from the server/Plugins directory
3. Startup SqueezeCenter
4. Goto SqueezeCenter Settings/Advanced/Extension Downloader and
select the plugins you like to install (mine plus Music Information
Screen which you currently are missing), to see them in the list you
may need to enter the repository url if you haven't already done so:

Code:

  http://erlandplugins.googlecode.com/svn/repository/trunk/latest.xml

5. Click Save Settings at the bottom to start the installation.
6. Check if you get any errors at the top of the Extension Downloader
screen
7. Restart SqueezeCenter
8. Check in SqueezeCenter Settings/Plugins if the plugins are
available in the list, if you see any error message beside them and
check if it works to click on the Settings link beside them.
9. If it still doesn't work zip the SqeezeCenter log file and post it
at an attachment. You will find the log file at the position which is
shown in the SqueezeCenter Settings/Advanced/Logging screen. I think
the default location is something like:

Code:

  C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\SqueezeCenter\Logs\server.log

 Is ACC for Windows only?

It must be executed from a Windows machine but can access a non-windows
based squeezecenter remotely.
Refer to the thread

the help button of the application itself.

Thx for the compliment. In general functionality that can be of use to
many may be added as an option because of the usefullness version time
investment. I think that adding disc numbers in the header is a useful
option which I've put on my to do list (BTW: ACC does display disc
numbers but only as pre-fix to the track section so not visible when
not displaying tracks).

Also adding disc number to the quickref list is added.
