Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2009-10-15 Thread jasell

Hi,

I have 2 BOOMS now, the first one was running ok, the new, 2nd BOOM
isn't.

I don't know how many time I doubled checked the settings, they are the
same!
But still, the new boom does show more periods than defined! It shows
different content than defined!

I tried to restart the BOOM, left without power over night. Restarted
SC.
Switch to other settings (content and periods) I switched to other
screensavers etc.

I run SC 7.3.3, cannot go to 7.4.x yet, I'm on a QNAP they are not yet
supported.

What could I have missed??

Hey Erland,
I'm playing with CustomClock, and it's really cool! I've finally
gotten some time to play with stuff, rather than just fix hardware.

I noticed some people really wanting red clock characters, a-la a red
LED digital clock.

Could you update custom clock to have a 'Midnight' mode with red
characters?

Ok, I played around for a while and this is what I've found. (Using
Squeezebox server 7.4 and Ipeng 1.2 with Rhapsody).
I select
My Apps->Rhapsody->Search->Search for Artists
This all works fine, then I
*Selected Artist*->Top Tracks
This seems to work fine, except one observation. The count in () after
all songs (248 in attached pic) keeps going up beyond the number of
songs listed. At this point the program gets a little bit shaky, not
responding quickly to commands.

When I select a song it either descends (next pic) and I hit add to
end, or I click and hold the song to add to end (assuming I'm in the +
mode). In both cases, it adds all of the songs to the end of the
playlist. (By the way, as a general rule you should be allowed to add
hundreds of songs to a playlist without at least a warning). Same
problem happens intermittently to play next and play.

Strange this is that when I search for tracks:
My Apps->Rhapsody->Search->Search For Tracks
The results come up, but it is a different type of playlist, without
the '+,> or >|' options up top (see pic). From this playlist, the only
choice is to descend to the lower menu. Choosing Add to end, Play and
Play Next all seem to work when you get there this way.

Hope this long-winded response helps you troubleshoot.

No, that's a combination of a bug in iPeng 1.2 which will be fixed in
1.2.1 and a missing context menu in TrackStat.
These context menus are currently a bit difficult because they don't
yet work consistently in SqueezeCenter and a lot of plugins. Since in
7.4 most players and the Controller use the same logic this will get
better over time.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Greg Brown's Sirius Plugin & New SqueezeCenter

2009-10-15 Thread BDP

Thanks for the reply. There were rumors of that happening, but the last
I read, it is not true -- We were given standard streaming but not high
quality streaming. In fact I think they kept the low quality stream
alive just for our group (lifetimers who subbed up years ago).

I can always call and talk to a rep and see, but in reading around the
web, I have not seen anyone getting upgraded to the HQ web feeds.

That WOULD solve my issue. Though I am hoping I might be able to still
get in using Greg's plugin if not.

Have you tried checking the hi-quality stream selection. I believe
those who were grandfathered in to web access with extended

Hi pippin,

I've found that the little icon (in my case a Receiver) was a status
indicator saying it's in standby yes or no. This doesn't seem to be
working for the Receiver (it does for the Boom and Radio), see attached
picture. I;m currently listening to the Receiver, but still the icon has
the transparent standby image (or I;m misinterpreting the icon).

Secondly, I got confused with the handling of a long hold on an album.
In Album view, pressing and holding long enough on an album will bring
you to Album Info. However, when you select an album via Trackstat, you
end up in a different view, still looking at albums, just not possible
to do the same press and hold gesture (screenshot is from album list via
TrackStat). Is this by design?

Thank you.

Erland, I enclose now copies of my server.log and scanner.log. I made a
manual rescan (clicked on scan all) but the problem is still there. And
during the scan (especially at the beginning) the server is almost
unresponsive and scanning takes ages.
After performing the scan I clicked on several menu items in the web

The quote you provide does not apply to iPeng 1.2. Adding tracks in
Rhapsody works for me for most of the tracks, the exception being stored
playlists, I will investogate into this.

I can't comment on whether the stuff I see in the current playlist
works since I can't play Rhapsody from over here.

I see that for some menus the "touch and hold" menu doesn't contain the
playback commands, but that's pre-7.4 and the normal execution on a
track or album still works.
Could you describe exactly what you see what does not work?

Touch-and-hold never highlights consistently :-) That has no connection
with the actual function, it will still work even if it doesn't
highlight.

No. That's not possible because the sleep mode deactivates the
foreground app (iPeng), so it's not active and can't activate anything.
There's no way to control this anyway.
I'll try to emulate as much of it as possible, but this WILL consume
power.
I estimate in that mode the battery will last for 5-10h, experience
will show what is realistic (I KNOW the 5h are because that's the time
it works with display on and playback).

I can't comment on Jailbreaking since I haven't done it for almost two
years.
However, I don't guarantee that iPeng will work flawlessly. iPeng uses
quite a lot of memory for caching and if another app takes up that space
iPeng might crash.

Nothing's wrong with your settings.
That page refers to the webapp version of iPeng (0.x) which runs in
your browser and is quite a bit different.
The manual for the iPeng App (also a bit outdated and to be updated
soon) is here:

I haven't had a chance to check any of the SN/MSB functions in 7.4.x

When you say "Manually enabling Shutdown, Suspend or Hibernate - also
to Squeezenetwork - works very well"...do you mean selecting one of
those actions WHILE sleep-playing? This new version trys to bring back
the functionality of an older version of SrvrPowerCtrl: actions get
automatically 'deferred' while sleep-playing. I may have introduced a
logic bug here.

The problem occurred on 3 successive tries. I should have some new
material to add to the database in a few days. I'll try the "scan for
new" option again and see what happens.

I did try to re-run the scan manually on one occasion. The custom scan
ran for several hours and seemed to be stuck about 2/3 of the way
through the scan. I have my library spread over 3 hard disks and custom
scan picked up nothing on the third disk. This has not happened with
any of the automatic scans.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Lazysearch Music v3.5.3 "404 not found" error

2009-10-15 Thread Stuart Hickinbottom
Thanks for finding that.

As you've spotted I've made a mistake. v3.5.3 of the plugin is not
compatible with SC7.3 and requires a change only present in Squeezebox
Server 7.4. I'll update my repository to leave v3.5.2 in place for
earlier versions of the server.

Sorry for the inconvenience. That's what happens when I don't test
something...!

Jailbreaking. I have read some things about it.
I do own this iPod only a few days but as far as I know the jailbreak
process for the iPod Touch 64GB has to be done after each restart of the
iPod.
And there are so many jailbreak applications so it is all a bit
confusing where to start

BPA, thanks for the explanation and your time!

I am really indebted to you and Triode for bringing the iPlayer to the
SqueezeBox,and helping us all out on this forum. Having iPlayer has
meant my Duet gets roughly double the use it would otherwise have.

Logitech and the BBC should be paying you!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2009-10-15 Thread havoc1

I would highly recommending Jailbreaking your Iphones or Ipod touches.

I was reluctant to begin with but it works completely seamlessly and I
haven't had any issues in several months.

If you Jailbreak you then have access to some very useful things:

* An app called Insomnia, that lets wifi stay connected and apps keep
running when the device is locked and the screen off.

* Backgrounder, which lets you continue to run Ipeng when you are off
using something else.

* You can also get a very convenient Autolock on/off toggle.

The combination of these makes Ipeng much more useful imo.

Yeah, I did thatthe repo is listed, but no plugin is listed to be
installed for some reason...

Ok thanks, I didn't knew that. But anyway having to press a button and
slide the screen to unlock prevents the iPod from being an optimal
solution for Squeezecenter.
The question then is if iPeng can bring the iPod to sleep mode and wake
it up without the buttons. Just pick it up like a Philips Pronto
remotecontrol and start operating. We'll see it in the future.

There were only reports in the log for some missing files, which I
suppose I have actually changed the file names for. Other than that
there was only this warning:
[09-10-14 08:48:14.7516] Slim::Networking::IO::Select::__ANON__ (146)
Error: Select task failed calling Slim::Web::HTTP::processHTTP: Can't

line 156, line 27094.
; fh=Slim::Web::HTTP::ClientConn=GLOB(0x8f59f34)

I guess the search and replace was successful then.

Most played albums and Recently/Last played albums works. The options
containing artists or genres I tried did not work.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-10-15 Thread Roger66

Oops,

the most important feature for me is still not working:
When the plugin is monitoring the sleep function of my SB (option
enabled), and I set the countdown on the SB to sleep in 15 min or
whatever the server doesn't hibernate to Squeezenetwork, as it used to
do under 7.3.3. The SB switches to dark display, but the server keeps
running withhout any notice.

Manually enabling Shutdown, Suspend or Hibernate - also to
Squeezenetwork - works very well !

Regards
Roger
