Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Podcast Player App

2009-11-18 Thread bpa

After adding the Car Talk URL to my mysqueeezebox.com - I can play the
podcasts through my SB3 and Radio either when attached to SBS or to
mysqueezebox.com

So I have no problems playing this URL. I am using SBS 7.5 but this
should not affect when playing through mysqueezebox.com

2009-11-18 Thread ian_heys

Triode thanks for the update.

It really wasn't that bad before but seems to have disappeared now and
connecting doesn't take a noticeably longer time.

Before, every time I started a live stream I got a single rebuffer
within the first minute usually of a two or three second duration - I'm
not that great a user of listen again to give feedback.

Now, not getting any rebuffers on the live streams.

Will carry on using 0.9g and let you know if anything transpires.

Please announce in this topic when I can switch back to the main
stream repo.

On Ubuntu 9.10, Virgin Media 20MBpS Cable Broadband and three SB3's.

2009-11-18 Thread ian_heys

Just happened to be listening at 10:00, to Radio 4, when the pips
sounded.

As I was facing my radio-controlled wall clock I glanced up and noticed
that the latency was just 3 seconds even after the increased length
start-up.

Set me thinking that the ultra fast start-ups I used to get with 0.9f
were probably the reason for the re-buffering in the first place.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Podcast Player App

OK, I seem to have figured it out. I was attempting to simply 'play'
from the title of the podcast. I did not realize that you need to go to
the next level of the menu, and scroll past 'about this podcast' to get
the most current instance of the podcast in order to play something.
Slightly odd, but at least it seems more understandable now.

Now on to attempt to get my SB to synchronize with my SoftSqueeze!

Thanks to all for your help.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browse changing the album list

2009-11-18 Thread johnM

What I want to be able to do is so simple, yet I cannot (after spending
many hours) determine how to make a simple change in the way Custom
Browse displays the list of albums when searching by genre.

OK. I have a Duet and I'm using the Controller. I have installed Custom
Browse. If I browse by artists, then click on an artist, I get the album
titles with the year (eg (1996)) under the title in a smaller font. If I
browse by genre -- artist list, then select an artist, I get a list of
titles with the artist name under the title in a smaller font.

I assume this is the default arrangement. All I would like to do is
have the album list look the same is both cases. That is if I initiate
the search via 'browse genre' I would like to have the year displayed
under the album title. Seems like such a simple fix but I cannot figure
this out.

Does anyone know?
Thanks.

John

Bpa,

Do you have a podcast player app under my apps in SBS? (that comes from

To play podcasts in SBS I have to add the podcasts in SBS. To play
podcasts in mysqueezeboxcom I have to add the podcasts on my

This is the only app that is this way.

I am using 7.4.2

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Podcast Player App

2009-11-18 Thread bpa

The intent behind the new App podcast player is that user defines
podcast sources once on mysqueezebox.com and the list is available
whether player is connected to SBS or or mySB.

Any podcasts defined on mySB are available to all my player all the
time from the player interface.

I do not have a podcast player under SBS My Apps WebUI. I think this
is a bug as the Podcasts menu under Extras is a left over from an old
plugin and only plays podcast defined on SBS but only from WebUI.

As a workaround most podcast URLs can be saved as a favorite and is
available and will behave correctly on players and WebUI alike - the
same as Podcast player App.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Does Playlist Manager work in Windows 7?

2009-11-18 Thread Phil Meyer
I'm running 7.3.4 on a new Windows 7 desktop. Players are two SB3's. I
did not use Playlist Manager on my old XP machine but decided to give it
a try with my new setup. I've downloaded the plugin with extension
downloader (I've also tried loading it manually), it shows up in the
plugin list and under the advanced settings tab I can see Playlist
Manager and create my list of playlists. When I try to access the
Playlist Manager from the remote by holding the add key all that
happens is the track gets zapped - I never see the extended menu for
playlist manager. Any ideas? Is anybody out there using Playlist Manager
successfully with Windows 7? Thanks.
There's no reason why it shouldn't work under Windows 7 - it's not doing
anything OS-specific in the plugin code.

What version have you installed? v4.0 was for SbS 7.3, and v4.1 is for SbS
7.4+ (minor alterations to avoid depricated warnings, other language support).

What type of player are you trying to use it on? It only works on Classic
players at the moment.

External Device External Storage Device whereby Disk Usage Setting can
be specified as either Data Sharing or Q-RAID 1. If I set this to Q-RAID
1, my CPU hits 100% whenever I stream radio over the QNAP Squeezebox
Server. But if I set this to Data Sharing, and then specify Schedule
Backup under Backup External Drive, CPU is around 15% when streaming
radio over QNAP Squeezebox Server. From what I can gather on the QNAP
forum, this is a recognised quirk, and I have decided to sacrifice RAID
for Squeezebox Server, but hope that at some point QNAP will address the
incompatibility.

I don't have a 2-disk QNAP, but assume that yours is configured with
the 1st and 2nd disks configured under RAID such that if one fails you
simply remove and replace it, and you carry on unaffected. If you
switch-off RAID, you should still have 100% integrity of one disk with
all your data, etc, but you will have to specify what you want the
second disk to do, meaning scheduled backups . If you subsequently
decide to switch back to RAID, the second disk becomes invisible and
QNAP automatically handles the process. So, give it a go!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Bug in Classical.com

2009-11-18 Thread rgro

Just subscribed to Classical.co last night. Is there a bug in the
Classical.com app that prevents it from auto-playing the next track in a
playlist. They have some pre-selected playlists and, as well, I've
built a small one of my own and neither of them will perform auto-play
the next track. Makes it a bit unweildy to listen to a multi-movement
symphonic piece when you have to manually start the next movement when
the previous one finishes.

Anybody else experienced this and found a solution?

Running Duet and Squeezecenter both on V. 7.4.1 without any issues
(except this).

Thanks to you all..

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPlayer Won't Play BBC Listen Again on QNAP

It's possible SSOTS has set up AAC decoding to use something else.

 Confirm by looking at WebUI/Settings/Advanced/Filetypes/AAC

Settings there are as follows:
AAC AAC Native
AAC FLAC faad/flac
AAC MP3 faad/lame
AAC PCM faad

Is there any logging I can do to confirm what's happening?

By the way, if I use the Logitech BBC app (under MyApps) then I can
listen to live BBC streams without problems (but obviously it does not
support Listen again). Do these use a different format?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPlayer Won't Play BBC Listen Again on QNAP

2009-11-18 Thread bpa

It's definitely using faad - you just have to find it.

Enable logging with os.paths set to DEBUG and also set player.source to
DEBUG and then try to play an AAC file or stream.

Check the log for faad - there should be one line where a full command
line with path to faad is shown.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Softsqueeze 3.9 beta for testing

2009-11-18 Thread vw195

Hi BPA,

I'm thinking that I can not download directly from your repository
because my error is :

[09-11-18 17:30:03.4136] Slim::Utils::PluginDownloader::_downloadError
(217) unable to download SoftSqueeze from
http://homepage.eircom.net/~altondsl/repos/SoftSqueeze-v39b1.ZIP - 404

and your download file does not have the - in it.

Is this intentional?

Thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Logitech Z-5500 remote from Duet

Guys, this thread looks very good and looks to be what I would like to
attempt; I want to be able turn on/off, volume up/down and change input
to CD on a Denon 3802 receiver via the Duet remote. The problem is I
cannot find the IR codes anywhere for 3802 or the remote which is RC-884
(same as RC-883). I cannot even find out if any of the other Denon
remotes in the LIRC list are applicable. Any help here would be much
 appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure how much I can help.

But the best way to test if a IR command works is to enable and login
by ssh to your SB Controller. Then you can put the Controller in front
of your reciver and fire of IR commands from your PC (by ssh) by
executing the testir command.

I would guess that the on/off commands might be the same as on other
Denon commands.

And when/if you find the right commands you can change my applet into
the applet you want.

Good luck and ask if you have more questions

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Softsqueeze 3.9 beta for testing

2009-11-18 Thread mkanet

It looks like the file was removed. It's possible that he's about to
release a Softsqueeze 4.0 with new features?

I did a search on google for softsqueeze 3.9 and softsqueeze 4.0, but
didnt find anything except for this thread pointing to the the dead
link. If I'm not mistaken, version 3.9 has some critical Internet
related bug fixes thats not available in 3.8 (available on
sourceforge).

I am hoping that the issues I mentioned above are something simple that
I can fix on my end. I have a feeling its because I have more than one
client; and, its possible that I might have the same mac address for
both clients.

I was just wondering if it was meant to be in the repository or not,
but you can download it directly.

earlier and not in 7.5 and later.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer 0.9 - with UK and Non UK Support

2009-11-18 Thread ian_heys

Have you compared the plugin's behaviour to that of the real web based
iPlayer?

I notice that the web based player has a setting how much information
can bbc.co.uk store on your computer currently defaulting to 100kB and
currently using 7kB on my PC.

To me the differences are so miniscule 0.9f/0.9g - would hate to think
you are chasing something that isn't there.

Talking about pedantic, my (forum?) spell checker says
behavior/minuscule is this Ubuntu or my settings?

The Ubuntu dictionary recognizes them as I have spelled them.

I have the 5.8.9 won't install issue too.

Although 5.8.8 continues to show in the installed plugins and continues
to work - I too continue to get the plugin update available message.

But I should say thanks for a great plugin which I have used for
years.
