Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2009-12-22 Thread pippin

Hm, indeed, that's odd. Are there other differences in these files?
I'd ask in the SqueezeSlave thread, maybe it's trying to do some
decoding with the artwork or so.
Also: is it the most recent version? I've had a lot of trouble with
Squeezeslave in the past with things like this, even skip did not work
as expected, but I believe things have improved.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Rhapsody error in stream message

2009-12-22 Thread riftheripper

When trying to play tracks in Rhapsody through my controller I get the
message "Error in stream - skipping to next track" whereafter nothing
happens.
This problem started about 4 days ago - praviously I've had no problems
with Rhapsody streaming.
I have the latest server update (I think)7.4.1 r7915
Rhapsody runs just fine on my PC.
Anybody?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeIR - A Generic Infra-Red Remote Control Applet for the Duet's SBC

2009-12-22 Thread indifference_engine

No. The menu needs to have at least one otherwise the Controller
won't show it. It also needs to be linked to a profile that is active
in the SqueezeIR settings. Try this for starters:

Code:

  TEST MENU

  TEST ITEM

Once the TEST PROFILE is activated in SqueezeIR settings then the TEST
MENU should be available with one entry on it. Of course, with this
simple example it won't do anything but it should at least be there. If
you're still having problems send me the log from your controller
(var/log/messages). It should contain some info that may point to the
problem. It may be something simple like a spelling mistake that we've
overlooked. You could try to open your xml file in Internet Explorer
(if you've got Windows) as it should tell you if there's any syntax
error in the xml.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2009-12-22 Thread Daverz

Apologies if this is covered somewhere among the 136 pages in this
thread.

I'm using iPeng with CustomBrowse and having a problem with playing
files. Once I get down to a level in the menus with a "Play All" entry,
clicking on this brings up another page (OK, I'd rather it would just
"Play All" as advertised) with "Add to End", "Play" and "Play Next".
"Play" does nothing. The only way I can play the files is to click "Add
to End", then page to the playlist, choose the first file in the group
of files I want to play, then click play. So to play my files I have to
go through 5 steps (6, actually: with the controller I can click the
play button one menu level above the one with the "Play All" entry and
it does the right thing.) There has got to be a better way.

I have "Play Single Tracks" off in iPeng settings, and in my Squeezebox
settings...well, I don't know, because I'm currently stuck in the iPeng
web skin and can't figure out how to get to the Squeezebox settings.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: FindArt plugin beta

2009-12-22 Thread huytere

For most stations I listen to, there is no art. How can I make FindArt
work automatically so that if it detects that there is no artwork it
will automatically search amazon? I do not want to be involved with
anything, just do it for me automatically. This will be better than
looking at the boring icons that are displayed when there is no related
art on internet stations. Or even make it just show a random image from
Flickr, to make life more exciting. Hope this request makes sense? Can
it be done now with a workaround?

First:
This is all about the web skin or the App? I assume the App from the
questions.
Second: Which server version do you use and are you sure you are using
the latest version of Custom Browse?

- Settings in the Web skin: Go to Extras->Server Settings and select
"Interface".

- A general remark on iPeng usability: Please re-play the animation
about context menus. It's under "Help->Quick Tutorials->Context Menus".
You CAN play an album etc from the level above. For an Album, you can
also do that by just clicking the cover. Even in Custom Browse.
Also, please replay "Help->Quick Tutorials->Albums/Playlists". You
don't have to use "Play All" to play all tracks, you can just select the
track to play from and iPeng will always play the whole Album. At least
that's the case in iPeng 1.2.1 and the most recent Custom Browse
version.

The "normal" "Play All" item doesn't seem to work, indeed, I'll have to
investigate why that is, but since Erland doesn't maintain CustomBrowse
anymore it's probably going to stay that way unless I find some bug in
the way iPeng is handling this.
Could you file a ticket:

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: FindArt plugin beta

2009-12-22 Thread bpa

FindArt locates art for a cover and then adds it to the folder for the
tracks. It is not dynamic.

Getting the "Art" is sort of the easy part of your request. Internet
Streams do not have any associated files so the art has to be supplied
as part of the stream metadata using
Slim::Formats::RemoteMetadata->registerParser and
Slim::Formats::RemoteMetadata->registerProvider. To do that you also
need to register a routine to be notified of streams playing. A user
last year put together a basic plugin to do"Now playing" but adding Art
would be a small addition. It still requires a small amount of
customisation for each station but it didn't seem to get finished.

As a stop gap - see if your station is in RadioTime app as they will
supply icons. If the station is not in RadioTime - email them ands ask
for it to be added.

Entries in Favorites also support an "icon=" paramters but it does not
seem to work once the station is playing.

This might be a red herring, but did you make sure the server has its

Doesn't work, I just get that one file in the playlist after using the

Yes. Your menu probably doesn't mark the track list as playlist or
album, which is what is needed for the "play other tracks in Album"
feature.
You did disable "Play Single Tracks", you said. This is also needed for
this to work.

So it looks like you have to use the context menu on the previous level
to play the whole selection. This should still work, at least it does so
with my menus.

Please also file that ticket, will have to find out whether and how I
can fix that "play all" item, that behavior looks very wrong, there's no
command being sent when you issue "play" from that context menu.

Forgot to test this before. This doesn't work either as that menu
level is derived from a custom virtual tag. So there is no context menu
(it just gives back the tag value by itself, I assume because it's not
something in the regular database?)

(This menu works very nicely with the controller, though, just so you
know I'm not completely whacked).

I'm talking about the context menu on the level above the track
details, just as I wrote in my first response. That one should work, or
neither the details view not the "play all" on the controller should
work.

I don't get the comment about the tag value itself.

I do see that the "Play All" item (CB's) doesn't work with any Custom
Browse menu in iPeng, haven't yet completely figured out, why, must have
something to do with the "itemplay" workaround to make services work
although their context menu is broken in 7.4. You don't have to
understand this :)

3. The Netscape downloads window appears, showing that
"softsqueeze.jnlp" has been downloaded.

4. Two windows appear: the "Java Cache Viewer" displaying the Resources

That's it. I close the two windows. Any ideas what is wrong? Thanks.

SqueezeIR just before copying the log), hopefully something will stand
out to you.

Cheers, Paul

Netscape 3 was released in 1998 - so I presume you have typed in the
wrong version.

Test with another browswer and make sure you have Java 6 installed.

Obviously you are not one of the general public Logitech was selling
to. You already spent too much in your setup before you come to
squeezebox. If you start simple with the squeezebox, you do not need
the audio matrix switcher, and you do not need the Crestron control
system which were not cheap at all.

For most people, they just need one server in the basement and then
whichever room they need audio, they just need a squeezebox there.
Also, they have a choice of receiver, touch, boom, radio or classic to
choose from depends on their needs. A solution that is simple, neat,
flexible and extensible.

It is especially true when you realize that a lot of people already
have a home server running for other chores like ftp, house
appliance/lighting/climate control, backup, etc.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] what is the point of buying the SB Receiver or Controller??

2009-12-22 Thread huytere

I am a SB newbie. For the last few days I have been waiting for my SB
Receiver to arrive. In my excitement about the SB device I registered on
mysqueezebox.com and downloaded the sb server exe to my laptop. I
installed it and ran the sb server interface and saw that i could
install softsqueeze or squeezeplay. I installed squeezeplay and it
worked perfectly. I added XM plugin and lots of apps. I was thrilled. I
started writing some Crestron code to control it via my "whole house
control system and GUI".

My equipment cabinets in the closet contain:

12 Marantz sr6001 AV receivers
1 Crestron Pro2 Control System (I am a SB newbie. For the last few days

1 Crestron Pro2 Control System
http://www.crestron.com/products/show_products.asp?jump=1&model=pro2

2 DishNetwork DSS receivers

1 Bluray Disk player

1 Dvd Player

1 Wii

1 Crestron CEN-TRACK AM/FM/XM Tuner Rack

1 Video Storm 16x16 HDTV/Multichan Audio Matrix Switcher
http://www.video-storm.com/proddetail.asp?prod=CMX1616V

1 Security Camera IP Camera DVR

3 Squeezebox Receivers (future)

1 DSL Modem

1 DLINK DNS-323 NAS (stores files, music, etc)

1 Lenovo ThinkCenter (a dedicated Squeezebox Server)

2 Netgear 24 port switches

The crestron PRO2 control processor has a progam (that I programmed).
And this PRO2 processor controls the 12 AV REceivers, the 16x16 AV
Matrix Switcher, the Cen-Track, the 3 Squeezebox Receivers, the IP
Security Camera DVR, the BluRay player, Dvd player, DSS Receivers.

Here are the rooms in the house and what they contain:

Master Bedroom - 7.1 Surround speakers in wall, 1 Plasma TV
Master Sitting - 7.1 Surround speakers in wall, 1 Plasma TV
Bedroom 1 - 7.1 Surround speakers in wall, 1 Plasma TV
Guest Bedroom - 7.1 Surround speakers in wall, 1 Plasma TV
His Office - 7.1 Surround speakers in wall, 1 Plasma TV
Her Office - 7.1 Surround speakers in wall, 1 Plasma TV
Garage - 4 speakers
Living Room - 2 speakers in wall
Family Room - 7.1 Surround speakers in wall, 1 Plasma TV
Dining Room - 2 speakers in wall
Powder Room - 1 speaker
Master Bath - 3 speakers, 1 Plasma
Foyer - 1 speaker
Kitchen - 2 speakers, 1 LCD
Bathroom One - 1 speaker
Bathroom Two - 2 speakers

All the in-wall speakers and plasmas home run directly into the
equipment room cabinets and terminate at the AV Receivers (speakers) and
the Video Switcher (plasmas and lcds).

All the rooms have a TPMC4X in wall touch screen controller that
controls lighting, music, satellite, bluray, climate, security, etc.

Rooms with Tvs also have a handheld TPMC3X wand remote that allows the
user to control lighting, music, satellite, bluray, climate, security,
etc. But normally these handheld remotes just control music and
satellite.

The Squeezebox Receivers will simply be sources that will be
controlled. They are just filling the need for music in the system. The
in wall speakers are used for many things, like announcing Caller ID
when somebody calls, intercom to the front door visitor, watching TV,
listening Squeezebox, watching Bluray, watching Youtube, Home
Automation, etc.

I do not need the SB handheld remote, or any SB UI because Crestron
will always be controlling my SB receivers.

Since I have been using it for a few days, I really love the squeezebox
community, it seems the best in the world. And I love the open
architecture. I finally found out why I need to buy the SB Receivers,
it is because the sound card on PCs have buffering issues that cause the
audio to sound very slow motion because of buffer/timing issues.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC iPlayer no longer works on SC 7.3.3

2009-12-22 Thread TheLastMan

A few days ago the BBC iPlayer plugin (v 0.7) stopped working for some
reason having been working fine for some time. I was using this earlier
version in order to have the fast-forward, fast-rewind function that was
lost with v0.9 when used with SC 7.3.3.

Tried upgrading using the extension downloader to v0.9, but that does
not work either. Seems unable to establish a connection and times out.

Is there any way I am likely to get this working on 7.3.3? Or am I
doomed to have to install 7.4.1 with its Controller button
re-assignments, over-large font and poor Controller audio playback?
(plus other bugs too numerous to mention).

My family are now used to using the Controller as it is and I don't
want to have to go through a re-education process if I can avoid it.

I am seriously torn. I used my Duet almost as much with iPlayer as I
did with my own music. The loss of this plugin is a major blow.

You have a dozen zones...

But only one music source?

What if you want to listen to something in your office, and your wife
wanted to listen to something in hers, and a guest wanted something in
their room...

Since you list only one output from a pc soundcard, sounds to me like
that is just not possible.

"Only one stream to choose from" sounds like one heck of a limitation
to me.

The 'home run' system is old school and just not as scalable.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] what is the point of buying the SB Receiver or Controller??

2009-12-22 Thread huytere

the home run system is way more scalable than putting local hardware in
every room, there is no doubt about that... The av matrix makes it so I
could have squeezebox receiver playing music in all 16 rooms/zones, or
just one or two, it is totally controllable. Like you said, mom could
listen in the kitchen, dad could listen in all the upstairs rooms, and
kid could listen in garage. It is infinitely flexible.

If you see in the hardware list below, I am buying 3 SB hardware
receivers... one for everybody in the house. I could always get more
later. I do not intend to use the software player at all. The av matrix
switcher has 16 audio inputs, and it is easily expandable. It scales out
easily to 48x48... no worries!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-12-22 Thread squeezesnapper

I tried disabling the MCE Standby Tool to see if that was somehow
interfering with the Really Prevent System Standby plugin. The server
went to sleep during the 6th song (around 20 minutes after it was woken
by the Squeezebox Boom).

Also, I see from the MCE Standby Tool forum that the “Ignore
applications that prevent suspend” check must be unchecked to make the
MCE Standby Tool respect the ThreadExecutionState. That is (and was)
the setting that I have in MCE Standby Tool, so I don't think that is
causing my problem.

I am quite confused right now and it is frustrating that I haven't had
much time to troubleshoot this issue of Squeezebox Server not staying
awake. However, next week I will hopefully have some time to figure
this out. Any tips are welcome.
