Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-06-26 Thread russelc

Firstly let me say to pippin that iPeng is brilliant. I've used it every
since I bought an SB3 and iPod in March this year and love it.

Recently I have faced a number of strange issue which appear to have
various root causes so my eventual question may be nothing to do with
iPeng. However, in summary the following has happened;

1. DSBridge stopped working - discovered that Flash 10.1 was problem.
Solved as in this post
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=64590page=41

2. I have an unresolved issue which appears to be related to the
installation of a new router as discussed in this post
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79717

3. Now the potential iPeng question. After installing the router
desribed above in 2. I can no long WOL from iPeng (which I used to be
able to do successfully). I have re-entered the MAC address since I
reconnected to the new router but I just cannot get this to work. I
would have assumed that this was another issue with the new router BUT
the SB3 remote still successfully WOL's my m/c from both standby and
hibernation.

Given the above, my question is what does iPeng do differently from the
SB3's remote wrt to WOL? Should I be thinking of reinstalling iPeng from
scratch?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info Peter, I hadn't considered any security issues. I
read your article about CSRF and it does sound scary (is this forum
affected?). However, I don't think it's going to be an issue in this
instance because the attacker wouldn't know the IP address of the
Controller or the port that SqueezeIR is using. I could use a pin
number that needs to be present in the url and must match the one
stored on the controller before it does anything, would that be
prudent? I don't want to make things overly complex by reverting to
certificates/keys/https so I'd like to use a simple but effective
workaround.

I think that sounds like a nice, balanced solution. The applet could
generate a random 4 or 5 digit number first time it runs (store it in
the persistent userprefs on the Controller), and the UI could reveal
that PIN to the user.

Hey, welcome onboard! I'm glad you got it working, as I don't have any
Sony equipment I couldn't really test that part of the code and had to
do a bit of guesswork but it looks like everything is good.

Everyone is asking for a write-my-xml-for-me-plugin but I don't know
how to program in perl so I won't be writing one and there's plenty of
free xml editors out there that will make the configuration process
easier. Most web-browsers will parse xml and point out any glaring
syntax errors for you (ie8 certainly does) which takes some of the pain
out of debugging your xml. These should spot mistakes like missing
brackets, missing termination elements (/...), missing quotes round
arguments etc.. All you would need to worry about is making sure the
actions reference commands that actually exist in remotes and making
sure the elements have the right names. Maybe an xml wizard could
create a DTD for squeezeIR.xml to validate against?

Yes - see comments at the start of the thread about ia32 support - you
need to install the 32bit compatibility libraries including a 32bit

I fixed a bitrate handling issue for the US streams and made 'high'
bitrate the new default. As a subscriber you can also now elect to use
the 'low' bitrate stream if you so choose. I bumped the version number
to 1.0 since there are no known issues that I'm aware of and changes at
this point have been very minimal. Enjoy.

Actually I have no idea what the SB3 does (the IR remote does nothing),
but here's what iPeng does:

iPeng sends a WOL broadcast message on port 3483. While this is NOT the
most common port to use it needs to be open for server discovery anyway
so it's usually a good choice.
Your router needs to allow broadcasts on that port and it needs to
distribute them across the network. This usually is an issue if you
have a combined WiFi and ethernet network and you use a different
subnet range for the two, e.g. if WiFi is on 192.168.0.x and ethernet
on 192.168.1.x while the respective subnet masks are set to
255.255.255.0. While the router can route directed traffic in this
setup broadcasts will not get through.

I have attached my log. Any good?

I had to cut out some of the heartbeats to make the file small enough -
 don't think these are relevant.

That debug looks right from a streaming perspective. Can you confirm
that when you have the web interface open you see a list of tracks in
the playlist view and that they are unique? May need some more debugs
for this...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM plugin--where how?

2010-06-26 Thread Guy48065

My 3rd party list only had about 6 items in it. Of course I have no
idea how many _should_ be there...

So I shut down the server rebooted the netbook. It came back online
with no errors a long list of plugins--incl. XMRO. Yay!
I went through the setup but now there's a *new* problem. MY SBC gives
me a Failed to receive channel info from XM.com error. I had no
issues connecting to SBS or mysqueezebox.com and can find play other
internet stations just fine.

Is there a complete install guide troubleshooting tips I can access?
This is making me feel like an idiot.

progress! that's good. Now, have you entered your xmradio credentials
in the right place (go to the plugins page, find xmradio, then next to
it is the settings. And I assume you have XMRADIO online access. I
think this is required, and costs extra of course.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2010-06-26 Thread Triode

I've just released a new beta which should be available from the plugins
page as before.

New features:
- added support for synchronisation, multiple synchronised players may
play the same spotify stream. (Note it is not possible to play more
than one stream at once due to spotify limitations)
- added biography link to artist browse menu
- supports servers with authentication enabled

There have been several changes within the helper app to support
synchronisation, so I would be keen on feedback on stability as well as
functionality...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM plugin--where how?

2010-06-26 Thread Guy48065

Yes on all counts. That's what's so confusing to me.

It would help if I knew how it worked. How does SBS having my account
login info enable it to get access to the XM *music* (as opposed to
just my account information)? I mean...each XM radio has it's own
unique ID subscription and XM knows when each is on. How does an
internet-based device imitate that?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM plugin--where how?

2010-06-26 Thread Guy48065

Baby steps...

XM may be the cause of my problems. I tried but failed to logon
online. A call to CS revealed they did this to block my access to
force me to call CS to clear a radio ID question! Cleared that hurdle
so now I can log in to my account *online*. But I still get a Failed
to log in to XM.com...incorrect username or password.

I've re-entered this info several times, shutdown/restarted the server,
restarted the pc, turned off/unplugged the SBC. No change. I can
access my library internet stations but just can't log on XM.

Man this is frustrating...
