Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2010-07-19 Thread karkandreas

Hello, Great work on this plugin!
I cant seem to see any other posts about this so I thought I would
write one:

What happens is this: everything works perfect, but when I have left
the squeezebox and server alone for a while, typically over night or
when I come back from work the albums I played the day before does not
contain any songs and just shows "Empty". A reboot of the computer
fixes this. Also when this happens it emptys most of the "played
recently" albums.

First I thought this had to be my system so I took the opportunity to
upgrade to Windows 7 from win XP and ofcourse also reinstalled
Squeezecenter and set the remote to factory default. Same thing
happened the next day.

This should rule out that it is something with my setup I think, but to
make sure I have now also tried this on a friends setup.

I have been running Xin XP and Version 7.5.1 - r30836 of
Squeezecenter.
Recently upgraded to Win 7 and Version 7.5.1 - r30836.

I have been using the 0.2beta6 and now 0.2beta7.

My friends setup is this:

Status for Squeezebox Server
Versjon: 7.5.1 - r30836 @ Tue Jun 1 06:02:45 PDT 2010
Vertsnavn: Squeezebox
Serverens ip-adresse: 10.0.0.100
HTTP-serverens portnummer: 9000
Operativsystem: Windows XP - NO - cp1252
Plattformarkitektur: 586
Perl-versjon: 5.10.0 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
MySQL-versjon: 5.0.22-community-nt
Totalt antall tilkoplede spillere: 1

Running 0.2beta7.

Have now upgraded to 0.2beta8 but not tested this as this behaviour
typically needs me to leave the squeezebox alone for some reason.
No Power save settings are enabled if that should have anything to do
with this.

Also Squeezecenter is running in language Norwegian and plugin set to
NO.
Anyone else with this behaviour or am I doing something wrong?

This plugin is by far the best plugin I have ever used and completely
changes the way I use my Squeezebox!! Thanks for using your time on
this great plugin!!

Can I just ask - if I buy iPeng for an iPad will it work (mainly) now?
And will it update to the iPad specific version once released?

I am very happy with iPeng on my 3GS, it works fine with iOS4 for me,
and am not hassling for updates in any way, but my daughter has "come
into" an iPad, and it would be good to control our SBSs from that if we
can ...

Yeah, that's the plan. :-)

But there are some incompatibilities between the Android Streaming API
and SBS's stream.mp3 implementation. But I hope that I'll be able to
circumvent them...

The iPeng for iPad App will be a separate purchase, though.

...if you did alredy purchase iPeng for iPhone you don't need to
re-purchase it for the iPad (unless you have more than 5 iThingies). As
long as you use the same iTunes account you can re-download it for free.

Hello Triode

I have a problem with scrobbling playlists and when I select a track
through search by Tracks.
When these tracks are scrobbled they appear with a track name of
" by " in LastFM. It is ok if I search by Artist or
Album.

Are there any restrictions on playlists that you can load? When I paste
a Spotify URI for a playlist to which I am subscribed it won't load. I
get a variety of issues. After I press search I get returned a page
with

"Remove from Playlist Menu"

If I click on that I get an option to Play or Add to Current Playlist
the "Remove from Playlist Menu"

If I ignore the page and return to the Playlist page via Internet Radio
I find a playlist entry that just has ":"

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Slimnas dont start after reboot of FreeNAS

2010-07-19 Thread Micke65

Hi,
I've recently replaced the disc in my FreeNAS that Slimnas was running
on.
After replacing the disc I reinstalled the same Slimnas version as
before.
(It's actually the files used in the original installation that I
managed to save before the disc got really bad.)
At first everything worked fine but after a reboot of the FreeNAS,
Slimnas no longer starts.
It doesn't even show up as "Extension" in the FreeNAS menu.

Any ideas?

FreeNAS version: 0.686
OS Version: FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE-p9 (revision 199506)
Slimnas: ??? (dated 2007-10-12, ie 12 October 2007)
Slimserver: 6.5.4

/Thanks Michael

You'll probably have to run the installation again in order to make it stick.
At least disable/enable it once you've restored it from your old disk.

Hi and thanks for quick reply,

The disable/enable isn't available since extension/slimserver isn't
showing up, or am I missing something?

I didn't restore the installation, I took these 3 files;

slimnas.tgz
slimnas-install.sh
SlimServer_v6.5.4.no-cpan-arch.tar.gz

and ran a installation according to instructions.

It's old but works for me, or used to

Assuming these are all from back then, it should work, as it did before. When
running the install script, do you get an error message, any output at all?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Slimnas dont start after reboot of FreeNAS

2010-07-19 Thread Micke65

I had trouble the first time but this was probably some misunderstanding
from my side.
Second time all ran smoothly and after a reboot Slimserver was enabled
manually.

Two things differ from the original installation (done by WiFi Media in
the NL):
1) The disc that was replaced had two partitions, one for Slimserver
and the other for data. I wasn't able to make two partitions on the new
disc so it has only one.
2) The installation folder for Slimserver is created in Windows, don't
know if that matters

Make sure permissions are fine. But to do so you'd need shell access to your
FreeNAS host. You could create the folder from there as well.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Slimnas dont start after reboot of FreeNAS

2010-07-19 Thread Micke65

Ok back again.
Seems that both partitions on the old disc where demounted.
The new disc is back in the NAS again.

I've reinstalled Slimserver and all works fine until after I reboot,
then Slimserver is gone.

Is it possible to install Slimserver on a disc together with data?

If that is possible is it ok to create the Slimserver installation
folder in Windows?

I should perhaps add that the system was originally set up by WiFiMedia
with FreeNAS on a CF card and a 500GB disc with to partitions, one for
Slim and the other for data.
Now after the disc is replaced I try to have Slimserver and data
together.
Reason for this is that I don't know how to make two partitions.

It either needs to be a http url or you can also put the font in the
"Fonts" directory under SqueezePlay where the FreeSans.ttf font file
is. If you put it in the fonts directory, you just specify the fontfile
without the path. If you want the Clock Style to work for anyone else,
you need to use a http url and it needs to be accessible on internet.

@BoomX2: Thanks for the update! I've got forecasts again.

One small issue... The sequence of forecasts that I'm getting are:

Currently
Tonight<<< Shouldn't this be Today?
Tonight
Tomorrow

It's 12:45PM local time -- The forecasts for both "tonights" are the
same (that COULD be a coincidence) but the hi/low displays "high" for
the first instance of Tonight (as it should for "Today") and "low" for
the second instance.

Gosh, I hope that makes sense.

ANYhow, BoomX2, I really appreciate you taking the time to work on
this.

Hmm, still doesnt seem to be changing anything.

Ive copied a couple of fonts from the windows/fonts folder to
/ProgFilesx86/Squeezebox/SqueezePlay/fonts and tried adding just the
font filename to both fontfile and fonturl, but with no effect. Also
tried changing to some of the other fonts already in that directory in
case the fonts i were trying to use were not suitable for some reason.

Im editing the SDT Weather Celcius and trying to change the time font
if that makes any difference.

Do you know if custom fonts works in any other style ? I know there was
some issue on Windows earlier regarding this, I'm not sure if I solved
it completely.

I found this string

/usr/local/bin/php -f /mnt/slim/usr/www/services_slimserver_init.php

under the menu

The directory the string points at doesn't exist any longer.
Is this relevant?

new string should look like this:
/usr/local/bin/php -f
/mnt/data/slimnas/usr/www/services_slimserver_init.php

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Slimnas dont start after reboot of FreeNAS

2010-07-19 Thread Micke65

I'll answer myself.

The string under System: Advanced: Command scripts was indeed
important.
Updated string with Slimservers new location and Slimserver works.
Switched back to old string, Slimserver doesn't load.
Switched to new string, Slimserver works.

So problem solved!

Thanks mherger for assisting!

At present playlists are rembered if you add them from the playlist

What player are you trying to play this on - the plugin is restricted

Sorry - I took the decision to restrict to hardware only players so
don't support Squeezeplay on any machine. The reason is so that I
follow the spotify requirements to ensure people can't record the

Hi! thanks a billion for the plugin. But i do stand with the same

I'm using a squeezebox duet and it neither works from the remote or

Get the same error.

Guess i'm missing something here...

I could post a log, but from reading up on other posts i see the same

Does spotifyd.exe actually crash (no longer seen in task manager?).

Could you try accessing the url in a normal browser:

Interestingly I only seem to get the crash if I go from the Spotify

right, then back to Spotify/Playlists then all is good and I can browse

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] no sound with prairie home companion

2010-07-19 Thread raglencross

The "ls -l" command gave the following results:

Macmini:~ raglencross$ ls -l

drwxr-xr-x+ 5 raglencross staff 170 Jul 7 20:53 Sites

Presumably "drwx" means delete/read/write/execute permission for me,
raglencross, (and the group staff?) for the specified folders i.e.
Desktop, Documents, etc. Don't have a clue what the number and date
columns or "-xr-x+" mean!

You are right that the SBS and mplayer executables are installed with
different ownerships. SBS's owner is "unknown" and mplayer is owned by
me. Changing SBS to my ownership does not solve the problem, probably
because, as you suggest, said ownership has to be extended to the
containing folders and directories.

Anyway, as a new Mac user, it looks like I will have to dig in to the
whole matter of sharing, ownership and permissions as done by Apple.
It seems to be every bit as complicated as for Windows, despite the
hype about Mac's simplicity! In the interim, I can listen to PHC using
one of my Windows servers ;)

Thanks for your help in steering me in the right direction, Bpa.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Slimnas dont start after reboot of FreeNAS

Sure it is: it's what is linking the extension in to FreeNAS web UI etc. If
that script isn't run at startup, then nothing will be there but a bunch of
files on your disk. Good analysis of your problem! Thanks for sharing.

I can see that could be a bit of a problem. It certainly makes a mess
of the scrobbling!

Yes indeed, it is beta8. It is not a very long playlist and the
response is only a second or so. I thought it might have something to
do with it being a subscribed playlist. My own playlists load fine. I
can do some more tests if you let me know what would be helpful for
you.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] no sound with prairie home companion

2010-07-19 Thread bpa

The "d" in "dwrx" means directory not delete. Write access to a
directory means you can delete files from a directory.

ownership of SBS is not related to the userid which runs SBS.

On Linux the userid is "squeezeboxserver". According to OSX startup
scripts the SBS userid is the environment variable $USER - I don't know
its value on OSX.

I wasn't very clear about the "ls -l" command - it was supposed to be
done on the directory containing mplayer so try

ls -l "/Applications/MPlayer
OSX.app/Contents/Resources/External_Binaries/mplayer.app/Contents/MacOS/"

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Softsqueeze synchronization fails after first track

2010-07-19 Thread chkiss

I've just gotten my Squeezebox Server set up after a long intermission.
I previously had terrible synchronization between my Squeezebox and
SoftSqueeze, but with the latest incarnation it seemed to work fine.
After just one track, however, SoftSqueeze always falls behind the
Squeezebox connected to my receiver. After multiple tracks the
difference between the two seems to be about the same, although I
haven't measured it. Selecting a specific time within a track through
the server interface and restarting SoftSqueeze both seem to fix the
problem. I have also noticed that sometimes the synchronization isn't
perfect at the beginning of the first track, but it is corrected and
sounds perfect after about ten seconds in. This leads me to believe
that it has something to do with the "Maintain synchronization when
playing" feature only working for the first track or at the resumption
of playback, though I could be completely off.
I realize that synchronization is not guaranteed, but it would be nice
and I'd like to know if anyone has a similar problem. Thanks.

Running XP Home, newest server and SoftSqueeze, and Squeezebox (3?)
wireless

Sorry about that. I had a couple of cut and paste errors. The
attached files should fix it for you.

How long has it been, a week or two ?
Remember that some people might have other stuff to take care of than
supporting and implementing plugins for free for the Squeezebox
community.

I would say that you don't have to worry, one way or another I'm sure
there will be an updated version of the plugin eventually.

I'm sure Greg will appreciate that people who wants an update uses that
donation button he has in the plugin settings page. I'm not saying that
it will result in an immediate update, I'm just saying that donations
usually encourage me to continue working on my plugins and I wouldn't
be surprised if the situation was the same for other third party
developers.
