 that the issue?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] IR Blaster install not possible?

2010-09-07 Thread kika1992

Hi,

I'm running SC 7.3.3 27044 on a QNAP TS119 NAS because I don't like the
look of the Controller in 7.5. Now, I wanted to install and test IR
Blaster with my Squeezebox 3 to control my Amp, but SC doesn't offer me
to install it, neither under Plugins nor under Extension Downloader.
IR Blaster isn't listed in both pages although IR Blaster Homepage says
that it should be offered in 7.3.3 under Plugins.

Does anybody know what to do?
Uninstall and reinstall SC?

Is there a way to manually install IR Blaster?

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

sure thing. I haven't installed the Spotify plugin yet but from the
notes provided by Triode on it's usage: Go to the radio menu on one
of your hardware players and you should be able to browse and play
tracks from Spotify..

So I was wondering if I installed WBMS and the Spotify plugin, could I
access Spotify (Radio) content with my uPnP device? Does WBMS support
radio streams through SBS ?

thanks

It might be a permissions thing. Try moving moose.exe to a folder

The only change on my system is an update of SbS 7.6 to the latest
 nightly build 7.6 - r31284. I can't remember the previous 7.6 build I
used but I think the SQLite version has changed to Database Version:
 DBD::SQLite 1.30_05 (sqlite 3.7.2). I don't know if that's relevant to
 the problem though.

I use a QNAP NAS so immediately jumped to the conclusion that the
problem was caused by the NAS. However, I copied 'squeezebox.db' to a
folder on my PC, reset file paths in moose preferences and tried again.
Still had the same error with moose and db local to each other.

 Any ideas?

Yeah, it could be the sqlite version, but i've just tried it with the
latest build and it
seems to work ok. If it was the version i'd expect it to reject the
file completely..
maybe r31284 had issues ?

Did the file you copied locally look ok size-wise ? Had the server just been
started, or a scan going when it was copied or anything like that ?

If it's still going wrong on later versions, let me know and I'll have
a deeper look.. All
seems fine here though..

In terms of the functionality of the app, would it be possible to add

I downgraded to SbS 7.6.0 - r31272 and Moose scanning works OK again.

Tried re-installing each subsequent nightly and scanning is OK up to
SbS 7.6.0 - r31277. Changing to the next version though (7.6.0 -
r31284) scanning stops working again and hasn't worked on any newer

Each version of SbS I installed used SQLite 1.30_05 (sqlite 3.7.2) so I
guess that can't be the problem. Looks like something else may have
changed from r31284 onwards!

Ah yes, WAL would do it..

From the SQLite docs:
Thus, if an older version of SQLite attempts to connect to an SQLite
database that is operating in WAL mode, it will report an error along
the lines of file is encrypted or is not a database.

What's more, there arent any WAL-happy .net connectors for SQLite yet,
so if the server's started to use WAL mode, Moose probably wont be
able to scan the database for a bit..

Having said that, it still all works fine here.. I've just downloaded
today's nightly (7.6.0 - r31290) which uses SQLite 3.7.2.. Moose scans
the newly created db file ok. I switched the server to MySql mode, and
moose scans that too. Andy may have turned off WAL-mode, which would
explain it. Is anyone seeing the problem with r31290 ?

I was unaware there were network-controllable amplifiers available. How
does that work? Do you just send the amp an http request and it
performs some action based on the request? It might not be too hard
once I have a better idea of how these things work.

Well the way I do it is that I use the lua socket to connect to the
receiver to its IP address on port 80 and then I send the contents of
an xml file with the command itself. Yamaha provides an excel file,
that can generate any function as an xml for you. This way you can
control every thinkable feature of the receiver. For the testing
purposes I have used an xml file for each command I issue, but I
believe, that this could be solved more elegantly (like putting all the
commands in one file and then just read the needed command and send it).
The code below is quite simple but it works.

I have also attached the MuteOn.xml file so you can see how the
commands look (Of course that it is also possible to issue commands to
read information from the receiver, like the volume level, if a feature
is on or off etc.).

Code:

  local io= require(io)

xml:connect(192.168.1.100, 80)

   xml:connect(192.168.1.100, 80)
   xml:send(YamahaCommand)
   xml:close()
   end

OK, I think this will be relatively straightforward (in principle). My
idea would be to create a new SqueezeIR protocol (called eg tcp). I
think it would be easiest to have each command in a seperate file and
put the filename into the existing SqueezeIR.xml file as
commandvalue values, otherwise SqueezeIR would have to parse the
xml and extract each command which would be tough. The ip and port
could be placed in parameters and the remote's protocol set as tcp.
So far so good. There would need to be a tcpToNative() function called
from ProtocolToNative() that would read the file into SqueezeIR.
Problem here is that this would be asynchronous so might need callbacks
:(. The next step would be for StartTimer() and TimerCallback() to run
your code to send the http request instead of ir (using os.execute)
depending on the protocol name.

The bad news is that currently SqueezeIR doesn't keep the protocol name
once it has converted everything to the Native format so some work would
be needed there. A better option would be to have an ir/tcp flag for
each protocol to avoid having the protocol name hard-coded. Again some
work would be needed there. I don't think it will be beyond the realm
of the possible to implement your code but you'll have to wait until
I've got my system working again (waiting for some bits from eBay).

This happens when i try to open the playlists.
and on the squeezebox display it says: Internal Error;, or ] expected
while parsing array. at character offset 885[(end of string)] at
 ...ParserBase.pm line 25.

I noticed that going to Top100 works perfect. but spotifyd.exe crashed
 when entering my own playlists.
I tried uninstalling the plugin. Still no go.

 SOLUTION:
I solved the problem.. Very strange problem. I started Spotify on my
android phone and noticed that one of my playlists just did not want to
load (NOT a shared playlist or someone elses. Just my own and only i
have access). How ever i tried. So i deleted that playlist via the PC
client and now it works just fine. I dont know if the bug is in the
spotifyd.exe or your code when parsing the playlists but something is
wrong. And a similar problem exists in the android version aparentley
exept it does not crash it.

If you can recreate and provide me with the problem playlist url then I
can try to see if the problem is in my code in spotifyd.exe (which I can
fix) or libspotify (which I can't)

In terms of the functionality of the app, would it be possible to add
in the Top 5 most popular tracks of an artist as provided by Spotify? I
think it's a nice feature of the Spotify UI as it helps you get a feel
for what a new artist is like without having to trawl through all of
 their albums.

 Thanks again!

I think this would mean fetching all the tracks and then selecting the
top 5 by popularity. I could definately do this as a menu option under
the artist, but would not want to fetch the list until you select it.
Let me think about it.

From a quick glance at your lirc file it looks like NEC protocol so I
might have a go at converting it from learned to parametised format
which should be more reliable. I never really trust learned codes as
there is a lot of potential for mis-reading the ir stream.

The problem is that the playlist worked just fine. Then suddenly
stopped and the problems began. I removed the playlist and added it
again. It was just a full album from Infected Mushroom. And now it
works again. I have no idea what happened. Considering that
spotifyd.exe crashed the problem is probably with the their client. But
I don't know.

Hi!

Great app! It works like a charm.. except for this:

Just added spotify plugin, which is genius!!! It works really well with
the Duet controller, but it doesn't work with the squeezecontrol app.

I can browse the spotify-lists and everything, but when I get into a
list or album, the song isn't listed as a song, but an empty folder(or
something like that).

Anyone experience the same problem? Please help with this.. This
combination, Spotify, Squeezebox, Android would be perfect :D !!!

Won't work due to restrictions in the spotify plugin. This is careful
to ensure it stays within the spotify licensing requirements to not
allow any form of stream ripping by only streaming via hardware

Looking for feedback on the 320k Radio 3 special streams. How well are
they working for people and do you get any rebuffering events?

I believe the trial is running until the end of the week - how many
people can tell the difference between the live radio 3 stream at 192k
and the 320k trial stream? Do you have any negative impact of the
higher bit rate.

Could you supply more of the helper app log? (you can find it in the
log folder in the same place as the main server.log file) From this I
suspect that the player is not able to connect to the helper app -
probably due to a firewall issue preventing the player connecting to
the helper app port? However it would be good to see more of the log
to confirm this.

Indeed a firewall problem, disabled the Vista firewall and music now
plays ! I had checked it but forgot to try disabling it, sorry if
that's already been covered. I'll open port 9090 for spotifyd.exe and

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Slacker stops late at night.

2010-09-07 Thread Ikabob

The passed 2 nights while listening to a custom Slacker station early in
the morning I have found that after about 6-7 songs the playing just
stops and there's a very long message with a very long number. If I try
to just press play arrow I get a 400 error message (cannot remember
exact wording). To get it to restart I have to go back to the Slacker
app on the menu and reselect the station which goes for about 6-7 and
stops again. I am using a Squeezebox Boom to listen. It doesn't seem to
be an issue during the daytime. Any ideas and does anyone else have this
problem? Thank you.

Can you get the exact message you see? Do you recall when you started
seeing it? Also, what times do you experience the issue and which time
zone are you in?

I know it can be hard to write down error messages late at night, but
it would be super helpful. Once I get this info, we can figure out
whether it's a MySqueezebox.com or a Slacker issue.

Thanks for the rapid response Mickey. I am in the EST zone (gmt-5). It
seems to occur at about 4:30 am. The exact message is hard to read
because it scrolls so fast. If there were a way to slow the scroll down
it would help. I'll try though if it does happen again. The message
includes a very very long string of numbers . I did uninstall and then
install and I made sure the passwords were all in synch. Thanks again
and I will update.

[As an aside, I really like Slacker. The music selections are quality
and popular and the functionality is very useful and practical. The
Squeezeboxe system is awesome and I love my Squeezes. (I want a white
SqueezeRadio even though I have no need for one).]

app on the menu and reselect the station which goes for about 6-7 and
stops again. I am using a Squeezebox Boom to listen. It doesn't seem to
be an issue during the daytime. Any ideas and does anyone else have this
 problem? Thank you.

I have had a similar issue with Slacker using a Boom at night. Central
timezone. GMT-6. I will also try to capture the error.

MickeyG, If you have an email address I can copy the entire screen of
the WEB SBS message and send to you. I cannot copy it onto this
reply. The Slacker program stopped before 12 midnight tonight.

the actual message (I hope I copied it correctly) at stoppage is:
