Yes thanks - that answers the question and confirms the reason for the
problem. There is a bug in that distribution as far as restarting the
server is concerned when plugins are installed (two copies get started
- causing all sorts of problems)

If I understood you correct you were asking where I downloaded the

No - use the WebUI Settings/Plugins page - it should show an entry for
the CDplayer as one of the plugins available and you just need to check
the associated box and click Apply.

Thanks for your help.
I take it the prefs file is not located in the same place as the plugin
files.
Where do I find it?

Is this the correct code to get the current version to work?:

1.02 is out of date - you need 1.08

How did you install the plugin ?

You should be using the automated install from WebUI Settings/Plugins
page

If you did a manual install - you will to be very careful to remove all
trace of the plugin you installed including the CDplayer prefs file.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CDplayer plugin

Hi,

I think I have the plugin installed correctly.
I can get the list of tracks on the CD to appear in the right-hand pane
in Squeezebox Server (ver 7.5.2).
When I try to play a track, it does not play. The song time does not
advance, no sound plays.
Using Windows Vista. CDplayer ver 1.02

An helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

2011-01-08 Thread Rick_W

Triode,

I know you have been extremely patient and are working to get things
resolved with the BBC but after looking at the various threads I am
still getting a problem

I have enabled 'Prefer WMA' on the plugin tab on the web UI settings
page and have left AAC enabled

I can get live radio but when using BBC Iplayer Extra I get 'Problem
cannot connect to server' followed by a very long link

BBC 3 HD and 4; 6 Music etc etc all work on listen live

Any idea?

If I have to wait no problem will just keep an eye out but 'Listen
Again' is a fair chunk of my Squeezebox experience so will be a shame
if the BBC has nobbled it

If it is me not sure what have done wrong!

The web interface probably moved to 9001 because there were two
versions of the server running. There is a bug in the .deb
distribution of the server related to plugin installations which can
make it run twice. Can you confirm this is what you are using?

the two plugins really make for a sweet setup. I was seriously

The problem has gone away. I re-installed 7.5.1, fired up, same problem
(spotifyd.exe failing to start with an 0xc005 message).
I then installed 7.5.3, nightly build, fired it up, and all is ok.

still odd, posted here in case anyone else gets the same error and
wants to save all the time I wasted doing memory checks, disk checks,
authorisation checking, switching off AV software, tearing remnants of
hair out, restoring previous version of spotify plugin from my backups,
and generally wondering what was going on.

Please make sure you only have one copy of spotifyd running. If you
still get this then change the httpport on the settings page to
something other than 9001.

The server thinks it owns that directory - so let it manage what is in
it.

You can definately still install manually, but the spotify plugin
assumes it can write to the directory the helper app gets installed
too, so if you do this make sure this directory is writeable to by the
server.

If you look on the server settings information page it will show you
multiple locations for plugins - unzip the file into the one which is
not in Cache/InstalledPlugins. Then go back and make sure the
Bin/i386-linux folder is writable to by the squeezeboxserver user
(possibly just by changing all the user and group info to
squeezeboxserver user as you did before)

A short status update on this:

The BBCiPlayer plugin and BBC Radio applet are not able to play flash
aac listen again streams at present. This is not something I can
resolve from the plugin end as something has changed at the BBC end.

I have been in contact with the BBC and will let people know of
progress on this when I have it.

In the interim I suggest people select the "prefer wma" (plugin) or
"wma" (applet) option. This will result in lower quality streams, but
will mean both listen again and live will work.

If this situation persits then I will review whether I should update
the plugin to allow aac for live and wma for listen again.

progress on this when I have it.

In the interim I suggest people select the "prefer wma" (plugin) or
"wma" (applet) option. This will result in lower quality streams, but
will mean both listen again and live will work.

If this situation persits then I will review whether I should update
the plugin to allow aac for live and wma for listen again.

More likely a system has broken down. There is no indication of DRM
for radio.

Are you sure ? UK user can have live Flash/MP3 so perhaps there is a
flash/MP3 Listen Again - also if on a Windows box it may fall back to
WMA. As a non UK users - there is no MP3 and web based iPlayer Listen
again on a Linux box does not play as there is no WMA either.

Users complaining on the iPlayer Messageboard and on their own forum.

None except reputation is tarnished if service is unreliable. However
the iPlayer service (AFAICT separately packaging of programs and
distribution) is sub contracted to 3rd parties so I expect there is a
performance aspect to their contracts.

I've enabled 'Prefer WMA' and left 'Use AAC' enabled.

That way, Listen Again works at 96Kbbps WMA, as does live Radio 3 HD
streaming at 320Kbps AAC. Stupid BBC, likely they've loaded on more
DRM.

This problem started on Thursday afternoon, affecting only Listen Again
AAC steams. Per the main thread, Triode said he'd look into this over
the weekend, but I'm sure he'll confirm your diagnosis.

The BBC's primary delivery tool, its iPlayer, is playing Listen Again
(AAC) without problems, so there isn't a fundamental problem at their
end. This then begs the questions:
1. How does the BBC become aware of faults affecting 3rd-party
platforms such as ours?
2. What incentive does the BBC have to fix things?

has now listed a number of plugins available from your, album review,
fileviewer etc. but not the one I was interested in GALLERY.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] UK: BBC HD Sound - BBCiPlayer Support

2011-01-08 Thread amcluesent

I've had AAC transcoded to FLAC server-side for while, think I mentioned
fractional-second glitches earlier in the thread or another thread on
iPlayer. Completely solves the problem for Touch and TP players.
Probably <.5% of my ripped files are AAC, so there's no issue there.
