Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezescrobbler and 7.6

Thank you, Erland. By installing Custom Scan the way you described I
managed to get SqueezeScrobbler 1.2.9 running again on my Diskstation
using SSSODS 4.14 and Squeezebox Server 7.6.1.

I understand your feeling, if someone would have asked me back in 2006
if I could see myself being involved this much in Squeezebox devices
five years in the future, I would pretty much have answered similar as
you do.

My feeling is still that Squeezeboxes will be providing music in my
home for a long time, with or without the help of Logitech.

The main reason I do provide the yearly purchase options is to make it
possible for people as yourself to pay one year at the time instead of
paying for the more expensive option without any expiration date.

I guess my phrasing on the wiki page isn't completely optimal from a
commercial perspective :-)

When purchasing, it's hopefully pretty clear that you will get Dynamic
Playlist for free if you purchase SQL Playlist, so just to be correct,
in your case it means $10 per year for TrackStat, SQL Playlist and
Dynamic Playlist plugin. But users that only want Dynamic Playlist will
still have to pay $5 for it.

Thanks for letting me know, I really appreciate it.

I personally don't think $10 (a few burger meals per year) is much in
comparison to be able to play music the way you like 365 days per year,
but as you say, each user have to decide for themselves if it's worth
the money or not. Unfortunately, the number of Squeezebox users aren't
enough to use similar prices as you see on Android/iOS app stores, it's
always going to be a bit more expensive in this limited market.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: License Manager, plugins/applets going commercial

2011-11-19 Thread Peter83

Erland,

When you say you go commercial, you truly are! I guess we get spoiled
by getting so much for free or at low (one off!) prices in App stores.
For some it will be ok to pay USD 50 for a lifetime licence considering
they used your plugins for many years. For me, having had the free usage
for a few months only, I can only look forward!

I use three plugins: Dynamic Playlist, SQL Playlist and TrackStat. That
gets me to USD15 per year or USD50 lifetime. With the way things are
going I don't see myself assuming that I will use this setup for more
than three years. There are plenty of reasons, both on the software and
hardware side, that make me believe it will not last that long. Got
experience with that already (it is called Roku Soundbridge).

My use is realy for the SQL playlist plugin with which I made two
playlists that allow me to;
- Play stuff I have never played
- Play decades eliminating 'bad' songs (based on autorating, genre and
artists) and stuff I have been listining to recently

Unfortunately I need three plugins to make that happen. Whether it
needs to be packaged that way I don't know, but now that you start
charging, it becomes relevant to the user. For example, on your
Wikipage you highlight that the DynamicPlaylist plugin doesn't realy do
anything without something else. Yet, I still need to pay USD5 per year
for it.

On that basis I will not buy any licence. It just is not enough value
for my money.

I thought I let you know just in case you want to reconsider the
packaging of your licence for the smaller users of your plugins (or
merge some of the plugins). Clearly it is your decision how much to
ask, as it is my decision not to buy. Thats all about going commercial,
so no hard feelings! Not everything in life can be for free.

Peter

I know the headless and GUI can share the same database, because that
is how I have it. Mainly I just use the headless, but occasionally I
open the GUI to edit filters. If you make changes in the GUI, then go
back to the headless web page, it will detect that the database has
changed and prompt you to reload it.

I'm not familiar with cue sheets so cannot test.

Users have reported cue sheet problems with 7.7 so perhaps there is an
SBS/LMS problem which shows up with Softsqueeze.

I still don't know where the headless server stores the fingerprints.
After it had analyzed all my tracks I fired up the GUI, with the
headless service still running. Then I selected all the tracks (all
10491 of them) in the GUI and right-clicked and selected "Archive".
Took just a few minutes and now all my tracks are fully fingerprinted
and tagged.

BBC iPlayer Extras does not appear to be automatically updating. I have

I'm running SBS 7.6.2 - r33593 on Windows Home Server V1.

Actually I'm also exploring this and learning as I go, this may still

Btw are you going to use SBS/LMS own MIP intergration or the sugarcube

It is not free you give a donation and get acess to newer sugarcube

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Newb MIP/Sugarcube user needs answer to basic questions and hints

2011-11-19 Thread Mnyb

I have MIP headless directly on the server , but it is a small server so
not fast.

But the main drawback is that MIPheadles don't store the fingerprint in
a file tag , MIPgui or genpiud does that .

MIP server use it's dB file as soon as you move files you have to
analyze again.

I also wonder if my headless server is going to recognize already
fingerprinted files when I refresh it ?

If the headless and GUI version runs on the same machine with the same
path to the music you can transfer it's cahce to the headless server.

But that's not my setup.

Luckilly the SugarCube plugin can mix with the limted info avaible so I
have fingerprinting and automated backup running in the background and
eventually I'll be done

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Newb MIP/Sugarcube user needs answer to basic questions and hints

2011-11-19 Thread Henry66

I got MIP set up in headless server mode and now it is running like a
bat out of hell (comparatively speaking). Blew through >100 tracks in
two hours. Go figure.

My question now is, how do MIP GUI and headless server interact?
In the GUI I had disabled some tracks but it looks like the server has
gone ahead and analyzed them anyway?

I have a bunch of tracks that are AC-3 or DTS encoded. I doubt that MIP
knows this so it will be analyzing white noise if it tries to do it
locally. If it matches from the server(s) then fine, but how can I
tell?

Also tried SugarCube for the first time. Very nice!

I've tried Softsqueeze on both the same PC as SBS and a different one.
The server is Atom 1.1Ghz with 1GB memory. Sorry, I meant Java 1.5, it
doesn't seem to work with anything newer than Java 1.5. Again, I've
tried on 2 WinXP PCs. It plays mp3 streams OK.

The problem is that Spotify only release their library for certain
types of processor and the one in the ReadNAS Duo is not one of these.
Hence at present I am afraid it can't be supported.

Despite all of my flailing about, your Spotify plug-in is what now I
play through all day every day. Thanks for your efforts they are much
appreciated. Is there any chance that at some point in the future a fix
could be made to allow it to run on the Readynas Duo? I know it doesn't

No way.
Or at least not beyond a simple "let's start a small new project and
see whether it compiles. Oh, one exception, well, that's still OK"
level.

I spent several days some time in October to create a whole new project
for iPeng because there was absolutely no way to get XCode stable with
the old one.
For a project with 1,440 files that's great fun!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iTunes Update plugin and LMS 7.7.1 problem

2011-11-19 Thread testmatch

Hi,

Version 2.8.3 of iTunes Update is working fine for me on OS X 10.5.8
and with iTunes 7.7.1 (I don't use any of the newer iTunes features on
my PPC mini so haven't updated it for years).

I didn't need to make any changes to it when upgrading from 7.6.* to
LMS 7.7.* and so have left it alone.

Then it's their servers by manually doing one album at the time You can
get 35 tracks done fairly quick 20 minutes or something .

Can I hire someone in india that could log on to my server and run the
fingerprint on one album at the time for 1$ a day ;)

On a larger batch it actually did 300 tracks over nigth 5 hours , but
the speed seems to go down drastically if you assign a larger batch to
be analyzed ? very disturbing .

I made enhancement request 17771 (that probably would end in WONTFIX
after the weekend ) that SBS/LMS should have this capacity by defalut
to create smart playlist from seed tracks

I have had the same problem for weeks now and nothing would fix it, but
the 2.2.1 update seems to have done the job.

Thanks Triode, much appreciated.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Squeeze Remote for Windows Phone 7

2011-11-19 Thread 7Illusions

Unfortunatley the latest update of SqueezeRemote has a build error that
breaks the main menu. After som investigation, I've realized that an
missed checkin into the TFS (Version Control System) caused the crash.
I don't really understand how this could get passed testing, but
anyhow, a new version has beem submitted to Microsoft for testing and
meanwhile I have removed the app from marketplace.
As soon as the new version has been released I will publish it on
marketplace and I will also let you know on this site, on twitter and
via email to thoose that I have email adresses to.

I'm truly sorry for this, and I'm hoping that this will be resolved
asap

Kind regards
/Fredrik

[SlimDevices: Plugins] iTunes Update plugin and LMS 7.7.1 problem

2011-11-19 Thread WhaleOil

I have just updated to LMS 7.7.1 from 7.5.6.

All seems to be OK except that the iTunesUpdate plugin now completely
crashes the server whenever it is activated (i.e. at the end of each
track, or when trying to access info from interface). The crash is
definitely causes by this plugin as removing it makes everything work
OK (except iTunes doesn't get updated of course!)

This is on a mac running OS X 10.6.8

Is the iTunesUpdate plugin working under LMS 7.7 for others? Anyone
else having this problem?

Many thanks

You stop the mmserver and find and delete the default.m3lib file, not
that neat.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] How to set up "Squeezebox Control" on WP?

2011-11-19 Thread franglais

For anyone else who couldn't figure it out, on your PC open your
squeezebox server on your web browser. In my case it's on my NAS, so I
opened it via the NAS address on Firefox. The address appears in the
address bar. Mine was 192.168.0.25:9002
and the user name seems to be your email used for squeezebox.
However, I can't say the it's a great app. I got spoiled by iPeng and
SqueezeCommander. Hopefully something like will come along for Windows
Phone.

already exist in the files is a "refreash" all I have to do or does it

[SlimDevices: Plugins] How to set up "Squeezebox Control" on WP?

2011-11-19 Thread franglais

Hello all,
I've just made the switch from Android to WP, got the Nokia Lumia 800.
There seems to be only two WP apps, Squeezebox Control, and
SqueezeRemote.
I can't get either one set up. I would like a simple to understand
walk-through, if possible. For example, it asks for "name". Name of
server?
And server address? Is it the port, or the IP? And how do I find the
port and IP?
Basically, I'm completely lost!
Thanks in advance for any clues,

kk

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Newb MIP/Sugarcube user needs answer to basic questions and hints

2011-11-19 Thread Mnyb

Duh.

The MIP servers (defunct) seems to really downprioritize any
masstagging operation.

Uding the Windows aplication to analyze one album is fast enough so
finger print new aditions still works in a usable fashion .

However when put into analyzing a folder with more songs it 's getting
very vey slow.

Is this amplifind way of getting suckers like me working for them
adding data to their comercial solution while getting nothing back .

Q . Is IO speed a factor I analyze on a win XP (virtual) but the files
are still on my server ?
