Same here,
I have added 505's repo to get new version and same problem started; LMS
is 7.9.0 nightly again. I did a manual uninstall, removed 505's repo.
Plugin returned to the available plugin list, but check/apply/restart
started same "update available" loop . Now I can't install any version.
Similar problem happened before with other plugin, but the problem was
connection related that time. I have checked that I can access the repo
and zip file, also tried with VPN.

Would it be within your intended use model for your plugin to include
options to search local sources first for artist picture and bio files?

Intended use model - yes. But it's not implemented.

Or would this be a case of "write yer own damn plugin whydontcha?"

Sounds like a good plan :-). Do you have a certain schema for your
filenames? You mention composer.jpg. Would there be conducter.jpg,
artist.jpg etc., too? One problem with such approaches (searching the
file system) always is performance. I'd have to think about how we could
limit lookups to as little disk IO as possible.

When I started the MAI plugin development I intended to learn a few
lessons from the old AlbumReview etc. plugins. One idea I had was to
make it open to various information providers. When you look at the code
folder, you'll see there are files for AllMusic, Discogs, Last.fm etc.
Maybe you could extend the importer with a module to cover your use
case. No need for a full plugin. "Only" one more extension to the
extension :-).

I just tried adding the Soundcloud plugin to a 7.9.0 - 1408690240 @ Tue
Aug 26 04:04:37 CUT 2014 install. It doesn't seem to actually install
(it's not in the Active plugins), it's not in the Inactive or 3rd party
plugins lists, but it is at the top in the Updated plugins available
list. Clicking the checkbox and "Apply" followed by restarting LMS
doesn't change it's status.

So I can't use it or uninstall it or update it. Any thoughts /

I understand, especially with the small screen devices. I'll be happy

Well, more or less: yes. I had hoped to be able to support it for
longer.
The problem is that iPeng (Classic) had been a pretty old App by last
year, after all, it started out for iOS 2. Even with some modernization
we've always tried to support as many old devices as possible, iPeng
2.0.16 (the second-last version) still supported devices with iOS 4.3.3
and ARM6 processors.

With that code base and all the changes iOS 7 brought to the UI it was
necessary to do bigger internal changes to bring iPeng to iOS 7 level
and since getting that backwards-compatible with pre-iOS 7 OS versions
is a lot of additional work I decided that iPeng 7 would only run on iOS
7 and newer.

Since the differences between pre-iOS 7 SDK and UI and iOS 7 are so big
I had hoped that Apple would not make use of the iOS 7 SDK mandatory
very soon (and actually there were indications from Apples side back in
September last year that they would allow builds based on old SDKs for
at least a year) but actually they didn't and since February all new
builds have to use the iOS 7 SDK. The old iPeng code base doesn't work
on that so no chance for further updates :(

>
> It may be buried in this thread but I'm not exactly sure what all the

No, it's in the iPeng 7 announcement thread :)
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?100515-Announce-iPeng-7-the-iOS-7-Squeezebox-App-for-iPhone-and-iPad

The changes on iPhone/iPod are not as big as on iPad, primarily an iOS
7-like UI, dark color scheme and configurable main menu. Well, and a
much bigger number of small details.
But going forward, all changes obviously only get into iPeng 7.

I'm not 100% sure how I will proceed on that landscape thing. Adding the
"repeat" and "shuffle" menus back is an obvious choice but apart from
that I'm not so sure what makes sense on the NowPlaying screen. I did a
fully functional screen (without playlist) for another App but I'm so
sure that as soon as I add more functionality in iPeng people will just
going on asking for what's still missing and then we end up with
something very, very crammed with buttons

Actually Repeat/Shuffle in the player settings would be perfect for
landscape with pre IOS7. At least the functions would be accessible. I
seem to be very good at asking for things that may make sense but no one
has asked for before.

I could do portrait but I'm trying to go for a "stealth" setup and the
eyeglass compartment which flips down from the ceiling is perfect for
that.

Also I have not purchased a dedicated iThing for the car yet. I could
get something that supports IOS7, it just costs a bit more I think. It
may be buried in this thread but I'm not exactly sure what all the
differences are between iPeng7 and the pre-7 version.

Michael: This plugin could be *really* useful to me if is wasn't for the
fact that, with an all-classical library, I have all my artists tagged
as LastName, Initials. I.e.:

Bach, J S

and your plugin finds very few of my 900 some artists and the debug log
is full of entries like:

Code:

  [14-08-26 10:12:01.0763]
Plugins::MusicArtistInfo::Importer2::_getArtistPhotoURL (108) Getting artwork

  links   => [],
message => "The artist you supplied could not be found",
  } at /var/lib/lms/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/MusicArtistInfo/Common.pm
line 92.

HOWEVER: I already keep my own cache of artist / composer info in my
music library, i.e.

/mnt/Media/Music/GENRE/ARTIST/composer.jpg
/mnt/Media/Music/GENRE/ARTIST/composer.html
/mnt/Media/Music/GENRE/ARTIST/bio.html

So, for example:

"/mnt/Media/Music/g_German_Baroque/Bach, J S/composer.jpg"
"/mnt/Media/Music/g_German_Baroque/Bach, J S/composer.html"
"/mnt/Media/Music/g_German_Baroque/Bach, J S/bio.html"

Would it be within your intended use model for your plugin to include
options to search local sources first for artist picture and bio files?

Or would this be a case of "write yer own damn plugin whydontcha?"

I pre-cached only album artwork. Now I changed the setting to pre-cache
album, photo and video artwork, cleared the database
and made an complete scan : the problem is still there. Windows
explorer show correct filenames, I simply copied the directory
containing the picture file via samba to a linux system - here it works
pretty well. I tagged my database very carefully with a
correct spelling of all the names. The composers I coded as ,
such as "Dvořák, Antonín". By such a famous
composer the internet search from MAI is successful and I can see a nice
picture with his correct name. But for "Bozza, Eugène" and more unknown
composer I made a search by hand, found a picture (sometimes not) and
put it into my directory - MAI on Windows is not able to find this
file.
I had the possibility to make a test on Fedora 20 (X_64) and on an
ARM-based QNAP -NAS, both without problems (sure - bot are linuxe).
If I can help you to debug this issue, I will do so, but only starting
mids of september.

Regards

Bernd

I've checked their code and it's possible to add it to the squeezebox
plugin in the same way. Create a new setting on the settings page and
use the option if checked.

I'm not sure if that solves the problems because i cannot try it. My

that Erland did.

The fact that it is a global option, comes from the code from Erland:

https://github.com/ickStream/ickstream-service-lms/blob/master/src/main/plugin/strings.txt

Line 119 at the end.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Soundcloud plugin for squeezeserver

2014-08-26 Thread 505

That's the same fix erland posted a page back. I'm trying to work on
some code to incorporate this into the main plugin. With some setting,
so you can enable it specifically for the soundcloud plugin if you have
the problem. But I do not have that much free time to work on it.

My patch: 'Reduce brightness when screen saver is active'
(http://server.vijge.net/squeezebox/) for Touch (and maybe Radio)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Mysqueezebox apps not showing up in remote control app

2014-08-26 Thread CommanderROR

Hi. The apps all work perfectly... If I select them via webinterface
theyplay fine, and they work on my other players roght ftom the remote
control apps.
It's as if they just don't get picked up by the remote control apps when
they connected to the "server-player".
Maybe someting about the MAC address? Each player has it's own MAC, but
maybe the ome running right on the server shares the MAC with the LMS
and thus gets ignored? I'll have to give that idea a try...

You can add this line to /usr/share/perl5/Slim/Player/Squeezebox.pm:

> IO::Socket::SSL::set_client_defaults('SSL_verify_mode' => 0x0);

See
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?92723-Soundcloud-plugin-for-squeezeserver&p=785794&viewfull=1#post785794

Restart squeezebox server after adding the line.

Note: This setting is global so it may interfere with other plugins/ the
system.
