Amazing! This system still gives a LOT more than anyone can expect. Thanks! Installed the plugin on my ReadyNAS RN202 without any problem. Removed the old plugins from LMS and mysb. Authorized Spotty from Spotify on my iPhone and from my wifes iPad. (Does this mean Connect is coming?) So smooth and easy. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
With iPeng 9, when I look at an album that has Composer tag info I often see that instead of the Artist info. Did I miss a setting somewhere that's causing this to happen? I normally use an Android device and Squeeze Ctrl or Orange Squeeze, or the default Web UI and Firefox and don't see this behavior. I've seen it on non-compilations and compilations (I use Compilation=1 for these) when I go through New Music, Compilations, Random Albums, but NOT when I go through Album Artist...I don't think, I'd have to check on that. Most of my albums don't have Composer tags, but if I download something that has them I usually keep them. I also don't usually use Albumartist/Album Artist unless there are any tracks with multiple Artist tags. Any tips? Thanks! I'll have a go at that over the weekend. I'm sure you're right that the issues are not to do with Spotify per se; it was simply that I noticed all was not well when I couldn't play Spotify albums through an SB Classic I was controlling with iPeng. Trying to understand what was going on, I discovered that the web gui of my long-standing and stable 7.8.0 installation had stopped working properly, for no apparent reason. I upgraded to 7.9 to see if that would fix it, which it didn't. I use Spotify most of the time, so it was natural to mention Spotify when describing the problem here on the forum; and you kindly suggested installing 7.9.1 and Spotty (for which I'm very grateful!). But the Spotify stuff was only the symptom that made me start to investigate via the web GUI, which, I must say, I have not used for ages. And that's when I doscovered the web GUI wasn't working. Before yesterday morning's problems, I hadn't made any changes to my LMS set up for months. The sudden onset of the issue with playing from Spotify was therefore completely out of the blue. And it's still a mystery to me - though thankfully my access to Spotify has been restored by Spotty. As there hasn't been any change in "the load on my LMS environment", I find it hard to account for the sudden onset of problems with that idea. So I'm intrigued by your mention of 'oddities' before the installation of Spotty. Is there anything you can clarify about them that might cast light on the sudden failures? mherger wrote: > BTW: your complete log file brought a totally unrelated (and harmless) > issue to my attention: > https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/commit/762b5cb4f6daac538969bd717a6455ef1394136c > :-) Good! Do you have a large number of playlists? mherger wrote: > Is it limited to the web UI and Playlists again? Would other menus work? Yes the problems are just with the Web UI (whether accessed from the Linux box the server runs on, or from a Mac over the LAN). But not everything is affected: - When I open the LMS Web UI, the data transfers slowly from the server, but the Home page eventually opens - All sections of "My Music" run normally, with no undue latency for page loads. - "Radios" links with larger numbers of items are very slow to load (e.g. Music>Folk>Stations(26+) ) - navigation round the Web UI seems to get less and less responsive as I use it. This is only rectified by a server restart. - All submenus of Spotty, not just Playlists, are very unresponsive. (e.g. "What's New" waited interminably, and did not load.) mherger wrote: > Do you have a large number of playlists? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty - the next generation Spotify implementation
I've noticed the Ogg files are transcoded to FLAC. Is that necessary or is it something I've set up at some point? librespot (https://github.com/plietar/librespot), the library doing the heavy lifting in the background, would only return PCM data to LMS. I decided to compress that data to flac for improved compatibility and its lower bandwidth usage. But you can turn it off in Settings/Advanced/File Formats if you want lowest CPU overhead on your system. Also, I've noticed that it's possible to add multiple accounts. Is it then possible to have them somehow separated in the menu structure, so that my partner and I don't mix our, errrm, disparate musical tastes by playing from my library always? If you added multiple accounts, you'd have a menu item at the bottom to pick what account to use on any given player. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
