In the beta thread I forgot to mention I had to authorize via
username/password on my Synology DS 716+ II. Didn't spend much time
trying to authorize via app though. Using username/password worked
immediately.

Some are talking about a requirement for IO:Socket:SSL. This probably
means that the plugin wont work on for example a ReadyNAS Ultra II
(which until recently was where I was running my LMS).

Just installed it on the latest LMS 7.9.1 running on a Windows Server
2012R2.

It all works great on my RPi/squeezelite based players and even a UPNP
bridge fake player, which didn't work before.

Thanks for keeping it alive!

I've noticed the Ogg files are transcoded to FLAC. Is that necessary or
is it something I've set up at some point?

Also, I've noticed that it's possible to add multiple accounts. Is it
then possible to have them somehow separated in the menu structure, so
that my partner and I don't mix our, errrm, disparate musical tastes by
playing from my library always?

librespot (https://github.com/plietar/librespot), the library doing the
heavy lifting in the background, would only return PCM data to LMS. I
decided to compress that data to flac for improved compatibility and its
lower bandwidth usage. But you can turn it off in Settings/Advanced/File
Formats if you want lowest CPU overhead on your system.

If you added multiple accounts, you'd have a menu item at the bottom to
pick what account to use on any given player.

Hi.

In the closed thread "The Spotty Spotify implementation," user usc95
indicated he was able to set Spotify's "Release Radar" and "Discover
Weekly" dynamic playlists as Favorites and provided a screenshot showing
that s/he had done so. I am a Spotty user and although I can access RR
and DW with no problem, it would be nice to also set them as Favorites,
which so far I have not been able to do.

I noted that usc95 is using Ipeng. I am an Orange Squeeze user. Can
anyone tell me whether it is the case that while Ipeng can set RR and DW
as Favorites, Orange Squeeze cannot? And if Orange Squeeze can do so,
will someone give me a hint? :)

Many thanks to Michael for Spotty, which I am thoroughly enjoying!!

2017-07-06 Thread Diana

mherger wrote:
> Is it limited to the web UI and Playlists again? Would other menus work?
Yes the problems are just with the Web UI (whether accessed from the
Linux box the server runs on, or from a Mac over the LAN). But not
everything is affected:
- When I open the LMS Web UI, the data transfers slowly from the server,
but the Home page eventually opens
- All sections of "My Music" run normally, with no undue latency for
page loads.
- "Radios" links with larger numbers of items are very slow to load
(e.g. Music>Folk>Stations(26+) )
- navigation round the Web UI seems to get less and less responsive as I
use it. This is only rectified by a server restart.
- All submenus of Spotty, not just Playlists, are very unresponsive.
(e.g. "What's New" waited interminably, and did not load.)

mherger wrote:

Yes, but see above - the problem is not limited to 'Playlists'

I've done this, but it generates an enormous log file. (And the file
includes Spotify tokens.) I've edited out what I think is a typical
section, but it's still a very large text file. Is there some way of
passing it to you without cluttering up the forum pages with hundreds of
lines of log?

Thanks, as always, for all your help with this. (And I have to say that
your Spotty plugin, which I'm using just fine on my SB Classics via
remotes or iPeng, is utterly brilliant, with great stability and sound
quality. Thanks ever so much for building it!)

you have different browsers to test with? Would you see the same issue

Thanks, the first impressions on my RPI/Hifiberry are great!
I have two questions:
1 - I presume for the initial authorization you have to run the mobile /
desktop Spotify application on the same device where LMS is running? I
had to use the username/password solution on my LMS/Linux system because
using the client on other devices didn't work.
2 - After disabling the Official Spotify plugin & Spotify Protocol
handler from LMS: is the cache deleted as well? Or do I have to remove
it manually? If so: which files/dirs do I have to remove in
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache etc.?

You don't need to set them as favourites just follow them in your

No, the mobile app rarely is running on the same device as LMS ;-).

Most likely it's a problem with how the spotty helper would advertise
itself in the network. I think there can be conflicts with other
discovery services. May I ask what Linux you're running and whether
you're using some other media server software on it?

Oh, good point. I think the cache folder is called spotifycache or
similar, inside the cache folder you mentioned.

You may well be right. They are long strings of random characters, like
encryption keys. But they may, of course, be salted hashes. Anyway, I
left them out just in case I needed to upload to the forum.

There's a link to download a compressed copy. Use that, then upload that

that request was.

And please disable the MusicIP plugin if you don't use it. It's logging

The old Spotify cache can be quite big, mine was 515 Megabyte. I have
deleted it.
My LMS is running on a Xubuntu 16.04LTS server. It is also running
Mediatomb and by default a few services advertised via Avahi I think.
What advertising/discovery technology is used by Spotty?

I do use it. As you know, it's no longer maintained; but it continues to
try to contact the old Music Magic Server database, which has been
defunct for years. :(
Can you just ignore those errors?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty - the next generation Spotify implementation

2017-07-06 Thread Michael Herger

My LMS is running on a Xubuntu 16.04LTS server. It is also running
Mediatomb and by default a few services advertised via Avahi I think.
What advertising/discovery technology is used by Spotty?

It's using its own mdns implementation, which fwiu can conflict with avahi.

Hmm... checked the server.log? Could you try the command line? Enable
debug logging for LMS, try to authenticate. Then you'll find the command
line in the log file.

When you say try the command line - what command do you want me to try?

The one from the log file ;-)

The problems with the web UI are much the same with Firefox on a Linux
box, with Firefox and Safari on a Mac, or with Chrome on an iPad Mini.
Clearly, it's an issue with the LMS server/web UI.
It had all been working fine up to yesterday morning. I routinely update
Debian Wheezy each morning on the box where LMS is running, but the
/apt/history.log shows no updates yesterday. There was an update to sudo
the morning before, but I can't see how that would have any effect on
LMS.
It's a mystery!

You should try to reduce your LMS environment to the max. I'm pretty
sure your issues have nothing to do with Spotify. The only oddities in
your log date back to before Spotty's installation. Please disable all
3rd party plugins, MusicIP etc. and try again. If that solves the issue,
add them back one-by-one.

BTW: your complete log file brought a totally unrelated (and harmless)

I think you need to install packages libnet-ssleay-perl and

I'll have a go at that over the weekend.

I'm sure you're right that the issues are not to do with Spotify per se;
it was simply that I noticed all was not well when I couldn't play
Spotify albums through an SB Classic I was controlling with iPeng.
Trying to understand what was going on, I discovered that the web gui of
my long-standing and stable 7.8.0 installation had stopped working
properly, for no apparent reason. I upgraded to 7.9 to see if that would
fix it, which it didn't.

I use Spotify most of the time, so it was natural to mention Spotify
when describing the problem here on the forum; and you kindly suggested
installing 7.9.1 and Spotty (for which I'm very grateful!). But the
Spotify stuff was only the symptom that made me start to investigate via
the web GUI, which, I must say, I have not used for ages. And that's
when I doscovered the web GUI wasn't working.

Before yesterday morning's problems, I hadn't made any changes to my LMS
set up for months. The sudden onset of the issue with playing from
Spotify was therefore completely out of the blue. And it's still a
mystery to me - though thankfully my access to Spotify has been restored
by Spotty.

As there hasn't been any change in "the load on my LMS environment", I
find it hard to account for the sudden onset of problems with that idea.
So I'm intrigued by your mention of 'oddities' before the installation
of Spotty. Is there anything you can clarify about them that might cast
light on the sudden failures?

Good! I'm glad that something useful (if minor!) has come out of this

in anticipation of your questions

Thanks. One question remains: what CPU are you using? We have seen
crashes for some types of Intel CPUs before. But I thought this was
fixed :-/

I already mentioned working fine on Odroid XU4 (LMS 7.9.1 Ubuntu) what I
didn't say was so...so fast.. even on multiple synced players, almost
instantaneous playback...genius!!!

I've disabled it from the repository as it's been abused to spy on
user's installations.

Would you feel comfortable extracting a .zip file to one of LMS'
folders? Then feel free to PM me, and I'll send you a copy.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2017-07-06 Thread 808htfan

With iPeng 9, when I look at an album that has Composer tag info I often
see that instead of the Artist info. Did I miss a setting somewhere
that's causing this to happen? I normally use an Android device and
Squeeze Ctrl or Orange Squeeze, or the default Web UI and Firefox and
don't see this behavior.

I've seen it on non-compilations and compilations (I use Compilation=1
for these) when I go through New Music, Compilations, Random Albums, but
NOT when I go through Album Artist...I don't think, I'd have to check on
that.

Most of my albums don't have Composer tags, but if I download something
that has them I usually keep them. I also don't usually use
Albumartist/Album Artist unless there are any tracks with multiple
Artist tags.

Any tips?

Thanks!

I want NBC's *-Ed-* on DVD/Blu-ray!

Hmm... the fix I mentioned was for Westmere based CPUs - which is one
generation more recent than Core2's. I'll try to figure out whether this
can be worked around somehow.

Amazing! This system still gives a LOT more than anyone can expect.
Thanks!

Installed the plugin on my ReadyNAS RN202 without any problem.

Removed the old plugins from LMS and mysb.

Authorized Spotty from Spotify on my iPhone and from my wifes iPad.
(Does this mean Connect is coming?)

So smooth and easy.

I have probably already installed SSL at some point (then installing
Neorouter?). Can't remember.

I should probably point out once again that this would not have been
possible without the hard work done in the librespot project
(https://github.com/plietar/librespot). We owe them a great thank you, too!
