[SlimDevices: Plugins] Song Info and Song Lyrics (Erland Isaksson) plugins problem

2019-10-04 Thread freelsjd

Hello.

I continually get to the LMS web interface the following message at the
bottom typical of any plugin update:

Plugins have been updated - Restart Required (Song Info, Song Lyrics)

However, after the restart, the message is always returned. If I go to
the plugins page, and unclick to delete, the restart never removes
them.

How can I safely manually delete this plugin and either run without
them, or reinstall cleanly?

Thanks.

P.S. Is this the best plugin for song lyrics in LMS ?

Thanks for the trying Michael! I dowloaded the modified version. When
running it I got the following:

Error: Can't locate perl514.dll
Make sure the ActivePerl bin directory is in your PATH
PATH=C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\iCLS Client\;C:\Program

I downloaded and installed ActivePerl, but still got the same, even
though the Perl directory was not in the PATH. Then I downloaded
specifically the perl514.dll file which did not come with the ActivePerl
installation. Then after running it again I got the following:

C:\tmp>findSpotifyFolderFiles.exe
Perl lib version (5.14.1) doesn't match executable
'findSpotifyFolderFiles.exe' version (v5.14.2) at
/Config.pm line 60.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at
/Errno.pm line 8.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at
/File/Slurp.pm line 12.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at findSpotifyFolderFiles.pl line 5.

The strange thing is that looking at the properties of the dll file it
says version 5.14.2. So got a bit stuck here again.

I don't know what kind of log I can copy here. The error is displayed at
the bottom of the app window that is all. Can't find anything related in
Windows log.
The server on the port 9090 seems down on my raspberry pi as I can't
connect with Squeezer (Android app) too. I have to repair the server I
think. I still can control the raspberry pi LMS through a web page and
Sqeezebox Controller.

SqueezeliteX works well with a LMS installed on a Synology. Just tested.

Yes. That's a side-effect of my not using an intermediate service
somewhere in the cloud to store your path/auth details. They go straight
into Alexa and the only way to refresh is unlink and re-link. It's
trivial to detect a changed tunnel on your local machine, but there's
nowhere in the Amazon universe to push that to.

The good news is that the subscription stays active if you re-link as
it's tied to your Amazon account and not to the skill instance.

Thank you again for confirming this, and no, UPnPBridge is configured to
not transcode anything (as is LMS). I figured I may as well
leave that to the Linn, seeing as it was somewhat more expensive than
the Pi. :)

Indeed, gapless is an issue, but not of a particular concern. The only
issue I've really had with this setup is that tracks get stuck at the
end of a song and it does not advance to the next track. I believe
embedded cover art in the files may play a role, particularly if the
embedded PNGs/JPGs are larger than, say, 2MB...

As far as the Linn Majik is concerned, the UPnPBridge is a bog standard
UPnP/DLNA controller getting it to stream audio file tracks from LMS
(proxied by the UPnPBridge). If you haven't set any of transcode
settings of the UPnPBridge, the FLAC and MP3 tracks will be streamed by
the Linn Majik untouched.

Your only issue may be that the Linn DSM won't be playing the tracks
gaplessly. Last time I looked into this, Linn DSM devices only support
gapless playback when used as an OpenHome streamer, ie, not when used as
standard UPnP/DLNA streamer. Unfortunately, the UPnPBridge does not
support OpenHome, only standard UPnP.

Correct.

If you plug a 3.5mm jack into the hole on the side of the RPi and plug
the other end into a Line In on an amplifier (or powered speakers or
tiny headphones) you should hear sound coming from it (once you select
that Squeezelite instance from your LMS).

I only have Phaedra!

4,5 & 6 - let me explain my thinking which is based on how I use LMS and
I appreciate not necessarily the way others do.
If I am working and listening at the same time I either play Radio
Paradise or more often I play something and then let DSTM/LastMix do its
stuff from my library and from Spotify. A while ago Michael added the
facility to create genre based Random mix which could be used as a seed
for a subsequent DSTM/LastMix generated playlist. I created a bunch of
these seeds which are in a sub folder in favourites (can you note that
people do use sub folders in favourites) but it would be good to be able
to ask Alexa to create them on the fly.

https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?110023-Feature-Request-Random-Seed

7. I now realise that is a bit complex and therefore I withdraw it.

Hi Paul, Cebolla, thanks very much both - I guess it was indeed my
misunderstanding that UPnPBridge needed an active Squeezelite to
piggyback on to couple with the network player.

I just tested stopping the Squeezelite process while music was playing,
and the music kept playing. ;)

@Paul, what I initially meant with Squeezelite "pairing" with the
BCM2835, please see the screenshot below.

So I guess my own initial question is answered - UPnPBridge reaches out
directly to the network player, and not via Squeezelite, hence the
non-existent dedicated audio card or any ospecial Squeezelite paramaters
make no difference.

Thank you!
JCU

Probably a typo and/or a misunderstanding of how the UPnPBridge works,
which has nothing to do with the local audio device nor any Squeezelite
player that the UPnPBridge itself hasn't provided.

No. The repo file in git will only install released versions. The change
is in the 'master' version for 1.1.0 - and this has not been released
yet. This post

Hi,

I have just installed the version from git (by adding your repository
according to the installation instructions on gihub). LMS claims to have
installed v1.0.2: is this the one with the latest commits, or does this
repository default to the latest official release, which is the same as
the LMS official repository?

In any case, if this version contains the changes, then they didn't make
a difference. The user name is "Firstname Lastname" (without quotes), so
has a space but no asterisks or angled brackets . That was just for
privacy. If this isn't the latest version, then please let me know how
to pull it.

Thanks!

You said "Squeezelite is paired with the Pi's onboard audio BCM2835" ...
so what does that plug into?

Hi Paul, thank you for your reply - there are actually no audio cables
involved at all. I should have mentioned that the music is transported
digitally over the network to the player.

Thank you,
JCU

Using the 3.5mm audio jack socket on the RPi will have a lower sound
quality ... but if you still have your RPi3 and IQaudIO card available
then hook it up as well and listen to both and see if you can hear the
difference.

If you can't hear the difference then it does not really matter.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2019-10-04 Thread jasc

Hello,

I am using UPnPBridge (thank you!) with the following Pi setup, and have
a question about sound quality:

- RPi 4 4GB running 'Max2Play' (https://www.max2play.com/)
- No dedicated audio card, just the RPi4 in a case
- Squeezelite is paired with the Pi's onboard audio BCM2835, i.e.
- sysdefault - bcm2835 ALSA, bcm2835 ALSA, Default Audio Device,
  CARD=ALSA
- ALSA Parameters: 80:::
- Comand Line Options: -C 5

UPnPBridge is in turn paired with Squeezelite, and the network player is
a Linn Majik DSM (which is itself a very good DAC)

*My old setup* had an RPi3 and an IQaudIO Pi-DAC+, Squeezelite was
paired with it, and UPnPBridge with the Linn Majik DSM.

My questions:

- Am I losing sound quality by not having the IQaudIO Pi-DAC+ in the
chain? I have only FLAC and MP3, LMS is set up to not transcode either
format. This is why I assumed that the Pi is mereley -"transporting"-
the unprocessed audio signals to the Linn DSM, and that a dedicated
audio card makes no difference when using UPnPBridge and an external
  DAC. But I am unsure.

- Is there anything in the Squeezelite settings (Selected Device, ALSA
parameters, Command Line Options) that could be changed to ensure the
best possible sound quality (i.e. untouched) output to the Linn DSM?

Many thanks,
JCU

Thanks for this. 1 and 2 are already shortlisted. 3 is doable but might
get very long in the teeth (I have 120 albums by Tangerine Dream). 4,5,6
won't work because for the JSON command to loadtracks with namesearch or
titlesearch, you cannot specify a number to limit it to and LMS
automatically adds everything in your library that matches. How do you
envisage 7 (Search) working?

Yes. Album searches with LMS are a little odd, in that the string you
search with matches ANY tags associated with the album. So if you search
for an album called Greatest Hits by e.g. George Michael, and the actual
album is accredited to George Michael and Wham!, you may end up with
search results for Whitney Houston's greatest hits album if she did a
duet with George Michael. Because Greatest Hits as album name will match
for both, and fuzzy-matching may actually decide that Whitney Houston
featuring George Michael is a better match for George Michael than
George Michael and Wham! is, despite being longer. It will then levitate
to the top of the array and will be the reported match. Same can happen
with album names and not just artists. The FuseJS fuzzy matcher
sometimes produces unintuitive results.
