Good point Paul Webster,

I had forgotten for control only, you only need to sync if you want the
VU meters to work.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

2020-08-20 Thread slimhase

I am a longtime user of material skin - and I am loving it.

Sometimes, I still use ipeng and it has one feature, which is very
convenient:
When you are playing i.e. a podcast, you can tap and *slide* the "time
progress bar". While you slide it, you get a (std. iOS) Info box about
where you are within the the podcast. When you release the finger, LMS
jumps to that time stamp and proceeds there with the podcast. This is
very convenient to find a position in a podast.
In material currently, you tap somewhere on the time progress bar and
LMS jumps immediately to that position - this is (esp. for longer
podcasts) a hit and miss operation when trying to get to a certain
timestamp.

-> Would it possible to implement the described "sliding the
progressbar" in material skin?

Other than that - thank you again for this skin, Craig - it really put
new life into LMS for me!

Should be possible - but a bit of work. I'll look into this for 1.9 -
added an issue on github so its not forgotten:
https://github.com/CDrummond/lms-material/issues/317

*Material debug:* 1. Launch via http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json
2. Open browser's developer tools 3. Open console tab in developer tools
4. REQ/RESP messages sent to/from LMS will be logged here.

Good news. PlayFavorite, PlayPlaylist and AddToPlaylist now work again
with the assumed player. You cannot currently specify a different player
in the command itself but that will be rectified in an upcoming
re-certification. So it's always the assumed player (for now) if
defined. If not defined, the elicited player can be any of your players.

OK, thanks for you reply .Well, I tried it this morning with the
Audio Out set to 'Analog', as I had it set to 'HDMI'. And while it
did 'sync' and display the Now Playing Screen on my TV, it caused the
player that I was synced to Stop Playing for 30 seconds or so, then
start up again and play for 10-20 seconds, then stop and so on and so
on.

Yes, I have some issues with both CC Bridge and Pi with Jive, but only
when Syncing. I don't have really have a drop out issue with CC Bridge
with the main Players as far as audio, just the loss of the Album
Artwork.

But, here is the thing There is not just 1 one 'other' Player. I
have tried this with 5 other players and 2 different Chromecasts and 2
different TVs and get the same result. I should mention that they are
all on the latest PiCorePlayer release. I have tried these Pi wireless
and wired. Digione and Analog.

I really prefer the Display of the CC Bridge, so I appreciate your help.
I would like to figure out my problem as I would like to use CC Bridge.

OK, my 'Mystery' appears to be corrected.

Before, I was going to send along the Log Files, I thought I would
Re-Boot my Rpi that is running LMS on my Network that controls about 8
Rpi.

After the Re-boot, I started playing the same Rpi and Chromecast Synced
together and it has worked flawlessly for 11 tracks now. Which it never
Made it past about 3 or 4 before - So, it looks like it's going to
work for me.

So, for whatever reason LMS needed to be Re-Booted and this is probably
the same reason I could not get Jivelite to work either.

Thanks for your help

So, I think 'My Mystery' problem has been corrected.

Apparently, my Rpi that is running LMS on my Network, needed to be
Re-Booted. I was also having trouble with getting Chromecast Bridge to
work. And in Preparation to getting some Log Files, I thought I would
Reboot LMS and the Rpi running it. I started running Chromecast Bridge
again and my problems disappeared. I am quite positive that this was my
'Solution' to the Jivelite problems that I was having too.

Thanks for your help!

Sorry for asking this again. I think my original request was lost amidst
the need to fix more important issues.

If possible please could you add the option to select 128Kbs DASH Live &
On Demand streams in the BBCiPlayer v1.6 plugin?

I listen almost exclusively to R3 and often have constant dropouts at
320kbs. I've spent a small fortune on MESH Wi-Fi to improve the
connection throughout the house but in the far reaches of my estate the
320Kbs stream is still not reliable. And the 48kbps Lowest Bitrate
option is a bit rough for my sensitive ears.

Thanks for considering this request.

What is the bit rate of your ISP link
320kbps to have dropouts due to ISP would mean having an ISP link of
less than 1Mbps ?
What version of LMS *& OS ? Some older version of LMS (i.e pre 7.9.3)
have bugs which caused stuttering problem especially on Windows based
LMS systems.

I think it would be worthwhile to spend a bit of time first
understanding your setup.
For example,
* if the player cannot play AAC natively then changing DASH feed speed
will not change anything as Flac is being sent by LMS
* If the LMS is running on a underpowered old PC - then encoding into
Flac may be causing problems.

Problem may not be the source but an intermediate step.

For non UK - only two speeds are offered 96kbps & 48kbps. Lazily, I had
assumed UK was also offered two speeds. The problem is the available
speed that are offered by BBC are not known until stream starts so
selection would have to be something "play stream with rate less than
xxx".

I may have spoke a little too soon. I started up my Basement System,
which I have also synced with a Raspberry Pi.

It lost the Album Art after about 2-3 tracks Not 100% sure, but
maybe the Hi-Res stuff from Qobuz is screwing things up.
I was using a Playlist from Qobuz that Had some Hi-res Tracks on it, and
it seemed that when it hit those about 1/3 to halfway through it would
revert to the Blue Chromecast symbol. I could fast forward and skip the
track and it displayed correctly again

So, maybe it's a Hi-Res Issue when Syncing??

I have pretty much confirmed that my problem with CC Bridge Starts with
Hi-Res Material.
I took the Album 'Turn up the Quiet' by Diana Krall on Qobuz (Which is
192 Khz - 24 bits)

And it would display the album Cover initially, but my Master Rpi would
quit playing about 30 seconds into the track.
I could fast forward to the next track and it display that Track info
and Play for another 30 seconds before it quit.

Maybe there is a setting, to handle the High Res stuff in CC Bridge?

I think you can set LMS to not send volume by saying it’s a fixed
output. It’s somewhere in players’ settings, audio I think

For me tidal is not showing in the app section, too. I am using LMS 8.0
with material skin.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Question on Chromecast Bridge Pluggin for PiCorePlayer

2020-08-20 Thread Cut-Throat

I have pretty much confirmed that my problem with CC Bridge Starts with
Hi-Res Material.
I took the Album 'Turn up the Quiet' by Diana Krall on Qobuz (Which is
192 Khz - 24 bits)

And it would display the album Cover initially, but my Master Rpi would
quit playing about 30 seconds into the track.
I could fast forward to the next track and it display that Track info
and Play for another 30 seconds before it quit.

So then I noticed a setting in CC Bridge to up the Max Sample rate
(Which I did to 192000)
However after changing this setting and rebooting LMS and my Player I am
still able to reproduce the Problem.
With syncing my Rpi to my Chromecast It is definitely Hi-Res
(especially 192Khz Stuff)

This is easily reproduceable on my system. Maybe there is another
setting that I need to change??

Done in 1.9 branch. (Note next release will be 1.8.8 - 1.9 is for new
features)

*Material debug:* 1. Launch via http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json
2. Open browser's developer tools 3. Open console tab in developer tools
4. REQ/RESP messages sent to/from LMS will be logged here.

As a test to see fi bit rate fixes drop-outs, HLS URLs can be used to
request specific bit rate. If it works then the standard R3
"Iplayer://" URL can be modified for the bit rate you - audio encoding
(AAC) of HLS is exact same as DASH.

Make sure BBCiPlayer settings has "DASH > HLS > MP3 > FlashAAC" to
ensure HLS is included as an OK format.

Did you realise that if you set a player’s DSTM settings to be LastMix
local files only that it actually will select and play Qobuz tracks if
you have OMLI switched on? Not sure whether the same applies to Spotty -
I think it might.

That's by design - but the wording probably a bit outdated with LMS8:
The idea here is not to mix in "unknown" stuff from music services, but
only use your "own" music. Previously this used to be your local music.
With LMS8 this can include tracks from online services, if they're
integrated into your library.
