Just to note that I've not seen any disruption or lack of response with my server (Pi4, pCP 7.0.1, LMS Version: 8.1.2 - 1622353561) with Spotty 4.5. Starting playback of Spotty albums integrated in my collection is pretty much the same as for local files, and navigating within the Spotty app is a bit laggy but not (I think) any worse than before. It is purely with albums in my Spotty Album list. They take 5 seconds to open (42 seconds with debug logging). Albums found by searching in Spotty open in 2 seconds. There is also no problem selecting albums via the Spotty Artist list. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.5 - improved Ogg direct, Autoplay, multi-user setup
I just tried my laptop with Spotty 4.4.9 and that also takes 5 seconds to open an album in the Spotty library and debug logging slows everything down even more. So I have no idea what is going on. Does debug logging work correctly for anyone else? How much is "even more"? The only difference between debug logging and not is the amout of information written to the server.log file (and the time needed to process that action). But really, this should be franctions of seconds, not dozens of them. Unless you have a problem on your file system, or an otherwise super slow IO system which takes a long time to write the additional data. All that said you still haven't told me where (according to the log) Spotty was spending all that time. Thanks for the last update of the app. Looks more modern now, especially with the music notification option, to bring it in the correct place. One thing about that music notification. When I swipe down on my phone, I get the notification panel. The music notification is collapsed. Only the pause/play is visible. On the second swipe down I see a lot more options. Would it be possible, to add at least a skip forward and maybe backwards control in the collapsed notification? Just like Spotify. That has been the case for as long as I recall. The program producer &/or engineer will decide what the recording gain should be. Apparent lower volume can also be a result of deliberately not using dynamic-range compression. While I still used get-iplayer I adjusted the file volume with aacgain as part of my download script. I'll trade occasionally needing to turn up my amp for the overall convenience of the Sounds plugin. dysonapr's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21534 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113045 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.5 - improved Ogg direct, Autoplay, multi-user setup
There has been a messy disagreement regarding the instruction set to be supported and AFAIR, when the first Pi came out, the processor they where using (an 1160) was missing one instruction. I would have to reread things from the past, but in general I think the 1160 needs the arm5el, not the hf and even then, the IS used by standard gcc does not work. Ive painfully experienced that when doing cross-compiling for my apps. Youd need to compile using the gcc provided for that cpu. Thats also why I dont support old pis, I dont want to do native compilation. LMS 8.2 on Odroid-C4 - *SqueezeAMP!*, 5xRadio, 5xBoom, 2xDuet, 1xTouch, 1xSB3. Because the pi0 uses the same single core armv6 processor. More than you need really depends on what you want out of your system. There is only one reason to use older pi models..if you need low power requirements if you want to run from a battery. (okay the cost of the pi0 is a reason) Otherwise, get the latest pi4. If you want the latest and greatest options, then sometimes you have to keep up with the hardware. The compilers and libraries being used are just dropping support for ancient platforms. AFAIK, you can install Spotty and Spotty Legacy Helper App for Arm6/7 and you should be able to use spotty on the older systems. Apart from the fact of junking 2 previously working pi's, there appear to be 2 different pi 3 B+ (526 and 1gb). A 4 will need a new case with cooling and a new power supply. I just uploaded server.log I restarted LMS navigated to Spotty/Albums, turned on debug logging then opened the album Everything Now by Arcade Fire. The tracks were displayed after around 40 seconds. I'm pretty sure this is IO related. You could watch "top" while you're running these test, to see whether it's waiting every now and then. What I see is that even though the responses to the albums query are served from cache, they take more than 10 seconds to log. It's admittedly about 130'000 lines of log statements for 50 albums, so these sum up for your full list. Reading this data from cache and writing to the log is moving around several megabytes in a few files. If you were using a slow SD card, this could take some time. Or if there was an IO problem of some kind. All that said: this should not have changed with the update. ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
