Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins
Hello Erland, I've been working now for more than five years with the different releases of Slim-/Squeeze-/Logitech-Centre/Server and a number of your great plugins, especially my absolute favorite, Trackstat. My feeling is, that beginning more or less in January, the startup-performance of the Media Server dropped dramatically. Instead of three minutes in the past it now takes 15 (!) minutes to come up with Squeeze(LMS)server. Whatever I tried, it didn't work. At least I inactivated all your plugins except the License Manager to test the startup behaviour without it. It was a real surprise, that it now took only 35 seconds to start the server. After that I activated your plugins one by one. I now can definetely say, that it is the trackstat plugin, that's responsible for that poor startup performance of the Media Server. Do you have any solution for that issue in the pipeline? Thanks in advance for your response... Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Can't restore trackstat ratings
MeSue, thank you for your help! Indeed, the server.log file showed a wrong entry in the backup file that caused the restore process to fail. There were strange symbols added to the end of some musicbrainzId's, e.g. musicbrainzIded462550-eab7-4e42-88ec-16909faa7f84+/musicbrainzId I had to find and correct these corrupt entries all manually - that took me hours! At least the restore process was successful and the new backup file now shows, that the database has obviously been corrected. But one question still remains: How could it happen that the musicbrainzId's became corrupt? Is it a bug in the trackstat plugin or a bug in squeezecenter? And a last question to you, MeSue: Which program do you prefer to add ratings to flac-tags, that can be read by squeezecenter? [SlimDevices: Plugins] Can't restore trackstat ratings

It then worked, but without any trackstat ratings! I tried to restore the trackstat ratings from the last backup file. I could now see some ratings but most of them have been lost. A new backup file now shows 3,196 trackstat ratings (incl. history entries) instead of 14,900 ratings in the older backup file. The complete music database contains more than 11,000 tracks, all rated in the past, so this is a disaster for me. Can anybody help? erland;215956 Wrote: The Custom Browse startup time isn't related to the number of tracks, it reads and parses all the XML files at startup and this takes some time. It takes about 10-15 seconds on my machine. If Multi Library plugin is installed this might also affect the startup time for Custom Browse, in this case the number of libraries will cause longer startup time. The Custom Scan startup time on the other hand is related to number of tracks and this can take some time if you have a lot of tracks and slow hardware with little memory. The problem is the Mixed Tag scanning module. So if you don't use the Mixed Tag scanning module it is a good idea to disable it and then click the Clear link beside it to remove the data in the database. Thanks for response, Erland. I like your fantastic work and your great plugins, so I'm unlucky not to use the Custom Browse Plugin at the moment because of its startup performance. In my actual slimserver plugin configuration (see below) the Custom Browse plugin is definitely the performance-switch. Is it off, Slimserver starts in less than 1 min. Is it on, Slimserver needs up to 8 min. to start as a service. What I don't know is, whether it may be caused by a special combination of the Custom Browse plugin AND another one. As we discussed in another thread I have deactivated the Mixed Tag module in Custom Scan, so this is for sure not the reason. And my hardware should be powerful enough. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Scan performance
Thanks for your response, Erland. Martin, I think your problem is with the Mixed Tag scanning module. How large is your library ? --- 8,800 songs. Have you tried to see if the problem only occured at the first scanning or every time you scan ?- That's difficult to say, because I'm not really sure, that the first scanning after upgrading came to an end. Even when slimserver-scanning seemed to be finished, showing the number of albums, tracks, etc., only a moment later it was scanning again. I left the pc working alone for hours, but when I came back, it was still scanning, and there were always these annoying drop-outs. I restartet slimserver - same procedure! What I recognized in the cpu-performance screen of the windows task-manager was, that erverytime a drop-out occured, there was no data sent by slimserver to the CPU. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] HELP!! Trackstat trouble......
Thanks for your quick response, Erland. In between I did the following and solved most of the problem: 1. Again a complete re-install of the slimserver software. 2. A new restore from the backup file, not useless because I didn't move any files to another folder. After a while, looking in the TrackStat web interface, I saw first positive results. I gave the restore process time overnight, because I saw an ongoing scanning process (scanner.exe) in the task manager after hours. 3. I performed a trackstat scheduled backup at 3.00 A.M. When I looked at the results this morning, I recognized 2 things: 1. The trackstat scheduled backup had produced a file of 3.7 mb data (instead of 4.3 mb in the restore file). Does that mean, I still have lost data? 2. There must have been a computer-crash with automatic restart 2 hours after the trackstat backup process. I found the typical chkdsk-Folder FOUND... with parts of a slimserver textfile. Does that mean that the scanning process (and perhaps the restore process(?) ) had not been finished at that time?
