But if I leave the offset at the default (5), and set the limit to 45, it returns a list of albums. 45 is the highest it will go to with a 502 error. So Michael is right, this seems to be a server issue. I wonder if Michael has had any reports from other UK users of an issue. (I access the web in a standard way no proxies / vpn or anything like that. I use a public dns, but can't see that that would cause an issue.) Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.5 - improved Ogg direct, Autoplay, multi-user setup
Spotty shows my Spotify 'Albums' folder as empty, though it actually contains a large number of albums. I've tried rescanning (both online music and whole library), without success. Scanner log file has this error: [21-07-06 08:45:32.3278] Plugins::Spotty::API::Sync::_call (336) Trying to read from cache for me/albums?limit=50&offset=0 [21-07-06 08:45:32.3282] Plugins::Spotty::API::Sync::_call (338) API call: me/albums?limit=50&offset=0 [21-07-06 08:45:33.8691] Plugins::Spotty::API::Sync::_call (384) Failed to parse JSON response from me/albums?limit=50&offset=0: malformed JSON string, neither array, object, number, string or atom, at character offset 0 (before "(end of string)") at /usr/local/slimserver/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Spotty/API/Sync.pm line 377. I'm running LMS 8.1.1 on PiCore (RPi4b); Spotty 4.5.4; Spotty Helper Application for ARMv8 (0.30.2) I'd be very grateful for any suggestions about how to restore my Spotify albums to the Albums folder on Spotty. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
I'm posting this here first, as I know @pippin has experience with RPi players/servers. Ive been trying PiCorePlayer LMS on an RPi4 to stream to iPeng Players (on a couple of retired iPhones and an old iPad Mini). These synced fairly well together in various combinations. Ive just added a PiCorePlayer / HiFiBerry DAC2 Pro player, which is working OK by itself; but Im having trouble syncing it with one or several iPeng Players. Theres sometimes sudden loud distortion, sometimes stuttering, and sometimes the stream just stops completely. I know that synchronising is computationally demanding. Am I hoping for too much in trying to sync completely different players like iPengs and PiCP? Or is it worth spending more time trouble-shooting? (And if it is, does anyone have any suggestions about the best place to start?) Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere. (If this has already been discussed, I'd be grateful for a link to the posts, as I haven't been able to find relevant material on the forum despite a lot of searching.) The issue: When I have some players from a synced group playing a playlist, and I start another player from the same group, the stream stops and jump to the last item in the playlist. I'm pretty sure that previously the default behaviour on my system was for the stream to continue uninterrupted on the newly-started player and on the others in the synced group. Am I wrong in expecting all the players to continue playing the uninterrupted steam? If that's what supposed to happen, have I got something configured incorrectly that's making iPeng (or LMS?) jump to the last item in the list and stop? TIA for any advice. If you run the Spotify Desktop app, you can create a test folder containing some dummy folders under Playlists in the side panel, and drag random albums into them from the Browse screens, which will then behave like playlists. This should allow you to check what happens in Spotty with lots of items. I've just installed LMS 8.0 with Spotty v4.4.3 on a laptop running Debian Buster. I see exactly the same problem I had on the Synology NAS installation we've talked about: the Web UI is not displaying any playlist folders or lists after the last one in the screenshot I sent you. When I picked up the Spotify token for Spotty, the initial scan failed because of rate limiting. I added my Client ID, and the scan completed: Spotty Albums (55 of 55) Complete 00:00:24 Spotty Artists (39 of 39) Complete 00:00:05 Spotty Playlists (318 of 318) Complete 00:01:46 Building full text index (7 of 7) Complete 00:00:35 Pre-caching Artwork (5 of 5) Complete 00:00:01 Database Optimize (2 of 2) Complete 00:00:08 As you see, all 318 playlists were scanned. But when I go to Spotty Playlists on the Web UI, there are only 61 Playlist in total. (These appear correctly, either at the top level or in about four different folders, with the correct nesting.) This really does look like something limiting the total number of items that can display in Spotty. Yes, I did wonder whether the Spotify API had some limit on the number of playlists it would allow you to call. Spotty just updated and rescanned. Everything seems OK except that a large number of my Spotify playlists are not showing in Spotty. I have restarted LMS after the Spotty update. I have created and installed a Client ID as per https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?112962&p=994798&viewfull=1#post994798 I'm running Spotty V4.4.3 with Pinkdot's latest LMS 8.0.0-1605166211 on a Synology DS418 (armv8). So as well as Spotty, I'm running the 'Spotty Helper application for ARMv8/aarch64 architecture' v0.30.2. This didn't update when Spotty updated to v4.4.3. Does that matter? I can't think what else to try, so I'd be grateful for any suggestions. TIA Diana. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] LmsUpdate and LmsRepack - Synology 8.0.* packages
I'm running LMS 8.0 on a Synology DS418 (ARMv8). (Huge thanks to mherger and pinkdot for brilliant work on this.) The only issue I've found is that I can't create a playlist without a player available. It's been a while since I created playlists, and I'm not entirely sure whether this is an issue or a feature; but I would like to be able to create playlists without having a player running. Yes, I can just start Squeezeplay on the machine where I'm viewing the LMS web interface, and even turn the Squeezeplay player off in the palylist window, which allows me to create and save playlists. But if I close Squeezeplay so that there's no player at all, I can't add tracks or albums to the current playlist window. I'd be grateful to know whether this is expected behaviour, and, if it isn't, how to fix it. TIA, Diana. (PS I blame mherger for this: I'm making mixed playlists with local and Spotify content thanks to Michael's brilliant integration of Spotify with the Library. Respect!) It has to do with Spotty: when playing a Spotify stream synced between my SB2s and iPeng, I cannot 'jump to next track' I get a message 'waiting for sync' on the SB screen, and the stream only starts playing again if I stop and restart iPeng on my iPad. This happens with LMS running on the Debian laptop and the Synology NAS. (Spotty is v2.8.3 on both systems.) But when I play a stream from my local music library on either system, again with the SB2s and iPeng (iPad) synced, I can 'jump to next track' without difficulty, and the stream keeps playing. So the issue is specific to Spotty. Is there some problem between iPeng and Spotty? (Or should I ask Michael if something has change in Spotty / the Spotify API?) Hi pippin I've just installed pinkdot's LMSUpdate 7.9.2 package for DSM6 (armV8) on a Synology DS418 NAS. It appears to be working as expected, apart from one issue, as follows: I have a couple of SB2 players, and I also use iPeng (9.6.1) on an iPad as a player. I have been using these players for a long time with a Debian installation of LMS on an old laptop, and they have stayed reliably synced together. But today, while testing LMS 7.9.2 on the Synology NAS, I noticed that if I did a 'jump to next track' with the controller on an SB2, the stream stopped, with a message on the SB2 screen indicating it was waiting for the iPad/iPeng to sync. If I turned off iPeng on the iPad, the stream restarted immediately on the SB2. Do you have any thoughts about what is going on here, and any suggestions how I might fix the issue? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Mmm... There don't appear to be many recent threads on the forum about MusicIP. There are several mentions of it, with some discussion about getting it running on various platforms. But there's nothing much about the software itself. Most information about it, and about getting it working, is here: < https://www.spicefly.com/section.php?section=musicip >. As you may see, it's really legacy server software. The company who owned the internet server providing the service has long since shut down, but it's possible to run a local server on the machine that LMS runs on, which is what I do. I use that to fingerprint the tracks I'm adding to my library, and LMS uses it to generate MusicIP mixes. There's information on Spicefly.com about how install MusicIP and operate it. The guy who runs Spicefly is a member here ( https://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?2083-cparker ); but he hasn't been active much recently; and I've no idea whether he knows how the server or plugin software work in detail. I'm not myself a developer (or even a programmer), so there's not much point in my contacting cparker. Would you be interested in doing so, to see if he can suggest a fix for the MusicIP <> iPeng communication problem? Sorry I can't be more helpful. pippin wrote: > What happens if you "hold" "Play this mix" instead of tapping it? > Can you list the mix and maybe try to play it by tapping one of the > tracks? First, I forgot to say that I upgraded the iPhone and iPad Mini to iOS 11.3.1 yesterday morning. Next, I should describe how, if I recall correctly, creating MusicIP mixes used to work in iPeng (on either iPhone or iPad): I'd navigate to a track in the Music Folder (Artist>Album>Track), and press and hold the track. This opened the long menu of options for the track, and at the bottom of that was 'Create MusicIP Mix'. Tap that, and the mix was created and dispalyed, with 'Play this mix' at the top. I think in the past that tapping 'Play this mix' caused the play to start. Or you could press & hold it, to reveal a set of 'Play this mix' options: Add to end / Play / Play Next. This is, of course, all analogous to what I see on the LMS webGUI, and on the menus of the SB Classics, where creating MusicIP mixes is still working as it should. But now, in iPeng on the iPhone and iPad, the process seems to be broken. Everything works to the point where the mix is created, with the 'Play this mix' button at the top. But in iPeng on the iPhone, sometimes nothing happens if you tap 'Play this mix' nor if you press and hold it. But occasionally a single tap immediately displays the options submenu (Add to end / Play / Play Next); however none of them seem to do anything. In iPeng on the iPad, after creating a mix, tapping the 'Play this mix' button at the top displays the options submenu 'Add to end / Play / Play Next'. (Press and hold does nothing). Curiously, when you select any of the options to Add to end / Play / Play Next, nothing usually happens; but on very rare occassions, 'Add to end' actually does add the mix to the current play list, and it can then be played. In other words, the webGUI and the SB Classic interfaces work fine (and so does SqueezePlay on my Mac); but iPeng is not working, but in ways that are not exactly the same on iPhone and iPad. (There seems to be some instability, so that the behaviour of iPeng may differ from occassion to occasion.) Is there any point in doing a 'Flush Cache' in iPeng on both iDevices? Or might it be better to delete the app completely from the devices, and reinstall? I can't think of anything else I can try at my end. But you may have some ideas? Thanks for your help and advice. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Hi I'm using iPeng 9.4.1 (iOS), with LMS 7.9.1 running on Debian Wheezy. I use MusicIP to create mixes. Unfortunately, although iPeng appears to creat a mix, and lists the tracks, when I then press 'Play this mix', and select any of the three actions listed, iPeng does not add the tracks to the current playlist. I haven't used MusicIP for a couple of months, but I used to use iPeng to create and play mixes without difficultly. Though iPeng appears no longer to do this correctly, I can still create, 'add to end' and play MusicIP mixes from the LMS webUI. I recently updated LMS to 7.9.1 shortly after the update was released. Any suggestions would be very welcome. The Classic interface works perfectly (including MusicIP mixes! ;) ), pages load normally, and I can access and play from Spotty's menu items. So the problem is clearly with the default interface - but fixing that is not something I know how to do. I'll have a go at that over the weekend. I'm sure you're right that the issues are not to do with Spotify per se; it was simply that I noticed all was not well when I couldn't play Spotify albums through an SB Classic I was controlling with iPeng. Trying to understand what was going on, I discovered that the web gui of my long-standing and stable 7.8.0 installation had stopped working properly, for no apparent reason. I upgraded to 7.9 to see if that would fix it, which it didn't. I use Spotify most of the time, so it was natural to mention Spotify when describing the problem here on the forum; and you kindly suggested installing 7.9.1 and Spotty (for which I'm very grateful!). But the Spotify stuff was only the symptom that made me start to investigate via the web GUI, which, I must say, I have not used for ages. And that's when I doscovered the web GUI wasn't working. Before yesterday morning's problems, I hadn't made any changes to my LMS set up for months. The sudden onset of the issue with playing from Spotify was therefore completely out of the blue. And it's still a mystery to me - though thankfully my access to Spotify has been restored by Spotty. As there hasn't been any change in "the load on my LMS environment", I find it hard to account for the sudden onset of problems with that idea. So I'm intrigued by your mention of 'oddities' before the installation of Spotty. Is there anything you can clarify about them that might cast light on the sudden failures? mherger wrote: > BTW: your complete log file brought a totally unrelated (and harmless) > issue to my attention: > https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/commit/762b5cb4f6daac538969bd717a6455ef1394136c > :-) Good! The problems with the web UI are much the same with Firefox on a Linux box, with Firefox and Safari on a Mac, or with Chrome on an iPad Mini. Clearly, it's an issue with the LMS server/web UI. It had all been working fine up to yesterday morning. I routinely update Debian Wheezy each morning on the box where LMS is running, but the /apt/history.log shows no updates yesterday. There was an update to sudo the morning before, but I can't see how that would have any effect on LMS. It's a mystery! mherger wrote: > Is it limited to the web UI and Playlists again? Would other menus work? Yes the problems are just with the Web UI (whether accessed from the Linux box the server runs on, or from a Mac over the LAN). But not everything is affected: - When I open the LMS Web UI, the data transfers slowly from the server, but the Home page eventually opens - All sections of "My Music" run normally, with no undue latency for page loads. - "Radios" links with larger numbers of items are very slow to load (e.g. Music>Folk>Stations(26+) ) - navigation round the Web UI seems to get less and less responsive as I use it. This is only rectified by a server restart. - All submenus of Spotty, not just Playlists, are very unresponsive. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Official Spotify plugin / Spotify Protocol Handler suddenly no longer working
I was using the Spotify app this morning (it normally works flawlessly), and found it was failing to connect to my playlists. I went to the LMS Web Interface, and this was extremely sluggish, failing to load pages properly. After a lot of fruitless investigation, I decided to upgrade LMS to the newly released 7.9.0. This installed OK; and I cleared and rescanned the library. But the problems persisted. After restarting the Linux box (Debian Wheezy) that LMS runs on, the web interface was responsive as normal. But as soon as I try to open the Spotify app, the web gui became very unresponsive. After another reboot, the Spotify app opened after a long delay, but when I tried to open my playlists the web gui again became totally unresponsive. This is the section of the server log after the last restart: [17-07-05 10:45:59.6150] main::init (388) Starting Logitech Media Server (v7.9.0, 1488878280, Wed Mar 8 14:27:16 UTC 2017) perl 5.014002 - i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi-64int [17-07-05 10:51:41.3675] Slim::Formats::XML::gotErrorViaHTTP (310) Error: getting http://www.mysqueezebox.com/api/spotify/v1/opml Timed out waiting for data [17-07-05 10:51:41.3724] Slim::Web::Template::SkinManager::_fillTemplate (337) Error: file error - recursion into '/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/HTML/Default/xmlbrowser.html' [17-07-05 10:51:41.4137] Slim::Utils::Timers::__ANON__ (273) Error: Timer Slim::Networking::Async::_async_error failed: [17-07-05 11:15:20.1023] Slim::Formats::XML::gotViaHTTP (238) XML/JSON parse error: unexpected end of string while parsing JSON string, at character offset 41377 (before "(end of string)") at /usr/share/perl5/Slim/Formats/XML.pm line 324. Further investigation revealed that the Spotify Protocol Handler (SPH) was reporting I was not logged in to Spotify. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Official Spotify App. I rebooted the server, and the LMS GUI behaved as normal. I logged back in to Spotify in the SPH settings. I was able to use my music library, including MusicIP mixes, entirely normally, from both the web interface and my Squeezebox Classics. But if I selected the Spotify App on the web interface or on any device, I was unable to use Spotify; and the LMS web gui became very unresponsive. SPH was again reporting that I was not logged in to Spotify. I was able to log in again, and after a reboot I was still logged in. I appear to stay logged in as long as I don't use the Spotify app! When I looked at the server log again, I saw further errors: [17-07-05 16:47:43.8936] main::init (388) Starting Logitech Media Server (v7.9.0, 1488878280, Wed Mar 8 14:27:16 UTC 2017) perl 5.014002 - i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi-64int [17-07-05 16:52:26.1923] Slim::Plugin::MusicMagic::Plugin::_musicipError (528) MusicIP: http error, no response. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotify Protocol Handler - play Spotify on all your Squeezeboxen
I've just set up the Official Spotify app and the relevant plugins (including SPH), and all appeared to be working well. But when I tried using iPeng and streaming to an SB3 (SB Classic), the Spotify stream stopped after 7 seconds every time I tried to play it. I used the fix suggested in the post below - setting the streaming method to 'Proxied Streaming': http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...l=1#post832909 and this seems to work. Is that a good way to fix the problem (whatever it is!), or is there some better way? TIA either for a confirmation that this is an OK fix, or for a better suggestion. Spotify updated its software today, and none of my LMS apps are now updating with the playlists I've created today using Spotify's own app on my Mac. I've tried viewing my updated playlists on iPeng, the Squeezebox app, and my Squeexebox Classic players themselves (using the remote) which are running Triode's plugin. None of these shows the changes I made - they display the playlists as they were several hours ago. All of Spotify's own apps on my various Apple devices show the changes correctly. If I change the slider settings, the word 'Custom' appears. If I press save, I get the 'Save Equalizer' screen, where I can type a name and press Save. But if I then reset the channel sliders, the word 'Disabled' appears again on the Equalizer line, and nothing appears (not even the name of my 'saved' preset) when I tap that line again. Any suggestions? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
I've just installed iPeng on an iPhone 6+, along with the 'Playback' plugin. It's all working fine (brilliant app, Jörg); but as I investigate the interface, I discover I can't select from the iPhone's predefined equalizers: the 'Equalizer' field is marked 'Disabled', and doesn't drop down if tapped/pressed. The equalizer channels are displayed, and seem to be adjustable; but they can't be saved to a custom setting. I can't see any setting that allows turning the predefined equalizers on and off, so it's not clear why they're 'Disabled'. Apologies if this has been raised before, but nothing turns up in forum searches, and this 700+ page support thread is a bit long to 'skim'! I'd be grateful for any advice about how to get the equalizer presets. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)
Apologies if this has come up already (it's really difficult to find info in this enormous thread!). I've just upgraded Ubuntu to 14.04.1, which caused my LMS to stop working. So I've installed LMS 7.8.0, which seems to be working OK. But the Spotify pluggin is not showing on the web interface under 'My Apps". (There's only a link to the App Gallery there). I can access Spotify (Triode's plugin) on my SB3s, and it works fine - but it just isn't appearing on the web interface. Any ideas re what's going on - and, more importantly, how to fix this? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SoftSqueeze 3.3 hangs
I'm transferring here with this issue from the Linux forum, where I've been discussing it without realising till now that others were experiencing similar problems with SoftSqueeze itself. My experience is that pressing and holding 'Pause' on the SQ 'remote' causes SQ to freeze. Also, the 'Search' button does not trigger LazySearch as it should - it does nothing - though I can start LazySearch OK from the Plugins menu via the 'remote'. Curiously, if I use the alternative 'Help' screen java applet instead of SQ, LazySearch does work; but the applet, too, freezes when I try to stop a track with the 'Pause' button. I have deleted the Java cache, and reinstalled SQ, but that does not resolve the problem (though it did reinstate SQ after it had stopped working completely.) Then I was not able to terminate SS with /etc/init.d/slimserver stop: the script could not locate MusicMagicServer to stop it, and the SS process could not be killed (it seemed to get put into safe mode?). I couldn't debug this myself, as I don't understand a number of the commands in the script - and particularly what this line does: STATUS=`ps -e | grep $PROGRAM | grep -v grep | wc -l | awk '{print $1}'` (I guess this is identifying whether MMS is currently running?) [SlimDevices: Plugins] SS + MusicIP - Ubuntu
I've set up MusicIP to work with the latest nightly, running under Ubuntu Feisty. All working OK (at last!). But the Linux installation makes SS an automatic service, so when I restart the PC tomorrow, MIP won't be running when SS starts, and SS won't link to it. [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP & SS - start order
Several threads indicate that, under WinXP, the MIP API has to be running when SS starts for SS to mark tracks as mixable correctly. This was a problem for me when I had the SS service set to automatic start up - it was always running before MIP started, and never linked to MIP properly. I resorted to starting SS manually after I'd fired MIP up. Others may have found clever ways round this, but I've just discovered an utterly obvious way of getting this to work (I think!!). I've put a link to MIP in the Windows Startup folder (in Start / All Programs); and I've set SS to 'Automatically run at log in' (settable from the tray icon when SS is stopped). This seems mysteriously to fire everything up automatically in the right sequence when I start the PC. (In contrast, setting SS to 'run at startup' with the login details provided to the SS Service in the service properties does *not* work. It's almost as if you have to trick the system into allowing enough time for MIP to start first - but that may just be silly superstition, rather than sound computer science!) As I say, this may be standard practice that I've just not picked up. Any thoughts about why it works (at least at the moment!!!)? -- Diana -- Diana Diana's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7463 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32655 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Yes, on a Windows system delete the whole Cache folder at C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\Cache > Is there a way to add files without using the MM client? I'd prefer just > to dump the new files into my music directory and let a background job > process them. You can just put music into the folder where you keep your music on your hard drive, and tell MM to 'Watch' that folder (last item in MM Options). MM will then scan and analyse any changes to that folder in the backgrounds. And after the MusicMagic Reload interval you've set in SS, SS will rescan and pick up the information from MM. But make sure the interval is big enough so that both programs aren't accessing the files at the same time - 600sec is OK for small changes, retagging etc; but if you're adding three or four new CDs, MM needs time to analyse the music. So I'd suggest you turn off the automatic scan by SS, by making the MM Reload Interval = 0. Then you can wait till MM has finished analysing, and do a manual rescan (I find 'Clear and Rescan' best to be sure of getting the two caches aligned properly) Remember, if you are using MM, then you are letting that software manage your music files and keep the data about you music in its own library. SS then bases its own data about your music on what it gets from the MM cache (which is why you should not give SS a music folder setting of its own - if you do, it will start trying to set up a rival library on its own account, and you'll get conflicts). -- Diana -- Diana Diana's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7463 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31265 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
