That makes sense - thanks for clarifying for me.

I've managed to get the UK streams working \o/

I configured my server so that DNS requests from LMS were being routed
direct through my ISP, along with the client traffic, and this got it
working. So it does appear that server DNS is important after all.

Interestingly, I tried switching my VPN to a UK based server for both
DNS and other traffic and this did not work for the UK streams. Seems
the BBC are hot on the VPN issue and are actively blocking known
servers, even when UK based.

One thing that confuses me still is that having the player set to
'Direct Streaming' rather than 'Proxied' makes no difference - the
server DNS still seems to matter. I would have expected all the DNS
requests in this mode to be from the player. But I guess I have this
wrong.

Also, I still don't understand why my old configuration was working fine
with 1.6.0, but with 1.6.1 it doesn't !

Anyway, thanks bpa for the ongoing support - iPlayer is a big part of
why I stick with LMS. Much appreciated.

No - i route different devices, based on local ip address. So all the
traffic from squeezeboxes (apart from DNS) are routed outside the VPN.
Currently, my LMS server is being routed through the VPN and I'm
beginning to think this is the issue - but why the change since
yesterday? It's worked fine this way for a good 18 months or so.

I will try routing the LMS traffic directly, but this is a little more
involved so may have to wait a day or two.

I am in the UK. I do however make use of a VPN outside the UK for some
of my internet traffic but not for squeezebox (which is routed directly
to my UK ISP). My DNS requests get routed through the VPN so I guess
that may well be causing the issue. It was working without problem
previously - has something changed regarding DNS with the 1.6.1?

I've tried re-configuring my firewall to route the DNS for my player to
bypass the VPN, but this hasn't worked so far. Do I need to be
concerned about DNS from the server as well?

The non-uk and the mp3 live streams work fine as do the listen again

As a check, I manually reverted to 1.6 and the streams were OK, but
failed again when returning to 1.6.1

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Clock for Jivelite with 800x480 Screen

2016-03-24 Thread slackhead

Hi guys

Just wanted to share the Now Playing screen I've been working on. This
incorporates significant elements of tcuttings excelent work, which I've
adapted and added cover art and track info.

20173

It uses a background image stored on piCore which I've named bg.jpg.
This is transferred to the Pi using WinSCP and is stored in the
/home/tc/ folder.
Unfortunately, I can't post the image I use as it most likely is
copyright. But any suitable 800x480 pixel jpg should work.

This is still work in progress, and I'm sure will change a bit when I
can find time, but could be useful for others as it is now. I'll post
updates as I go.

BTW I'd really love to have a working VU meter on this - I hope some
progress can be made on getting that to work.

Cheers.

I'm having an issue currently with the updated LMS CustomClockHelper

This is how it loads:

A number of the functions don't work, particularly being able to import

Any ideas?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)

2015-08-19 Thread slackhead

Thought you all might like to know that I've been able to have both
squeezelite and Kodi running simultaneously (although not playing media
at same time) and using the same single USB DAC by adding '-C 20' to the
squeezelite config options and setting Kodi's 'Keep Audio Device Alive'
to OFF. These options release the audio output when not in use and
free it for other applications. (Don't know what will happen if both are
playing at same time, I guess I should try.)

This may not work for everyone but works great here. No need to have
Kodi shutdown before using squeezelite. I can have both Kodi and
squeezelite auto start on boot with no issues (so far).

I was previously doing this with OpenElec so thought it should be
possible with Max2Play too. Obviously Max2Play has the huge advantage
that I have LMS running on it - something that is very unlikely to ever
happen with OE.

On a side note - LMS runs really well on the Odroid U3 - a good bit
faster then my Raspberry Pi 2 - scanning my 65000 track library took
less than half the time (probably largely down to eMMC, but other
factors may well be an influence). And Kodi seems to run a bit
smoother.

Stephan/Flysurfer - you've done great job getting this all working so
well. I've purchased the premium support license!

One small request:- I've updated Kodi to your latest release. When it
starts up I get a warning about running Release Candidate 1. Any chance
of a upgrade to final version?

Many thanks
Richard

I've found that if I close Kodi from it's own shut down menu then it

If however I close Kodi by using the Max2Play web gui then it usually

Yes, squeezelite is the default 1.8, although I don't think that would
make a difference. It's more likely that something is preventing Kodi
from shutting down, and the Max2Play script which looks at this can't
move on and restart squeezelite while a Kodi process is running

sure exactly how long, but probably a number of hours after last making

When I go back to it the screen is blank and the blue flashing LED has

Us there something kicking in like a screen saver or some such that is
causing this. The TV I have it connected to is used for other purposes

Eventually noticed that no name resolution was working.

Fixed this by editing the /etc/network/interfaces file to include a

The Max2Play web interface could really do with a more comprehensive

amount is quite small and I'd be happy to support the developer so I'll
think this through so more. Otherwise I guess I wait until the updated
Kodi is included in the main release.

--I'm reserving the ip from my router for the device MAC, so I didn't

bug.( I'm sure that you hit the save all settings button on that page)

I'll look into using a reserved IP. Thanks.

I am connected to a router (a TP-Link running WRT) which is assigning a
DHCP address (which makes me wonder why the web page always shows the
localhost address. Using 'ifconfig' in a console shows the currently
assigned IP to be 192.168.1.105, previously it was 104, previous to
that ...103. All in keeping with the DHCP pool addresses.

This feature is meant for routers that sometimes switch IPs for running
devices and do not offer static IPs. It is not meant as a plain network
 configuration.

Exactly my situation, although I'm not sure why the router is not
sticking to the same address - it does with my other devices that use
DHCP.

Can I use one of the standard Ubunti tools to set a static address or
edit the network config files directly without messing up Max2Play?

Thanks.

Not the Kodi logs, but flysurfer mentioned of something like

The Kodi logs can be viewed directly from a console. You should find
them in something like '$HOME/.kodi/temp/kodi.log' (I'm at work at the
moment so can't check). Generally they give good information on startup
issues, as long as it makes it far enough to start logging

This gives you direct access to all artwork stored with your music - as
well as being much much better than the usual LMS interface for

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MUSO - Support Thread

2013-01-27 Thread slackhead

I've been using 1.5.12 all afternoon and so far no issues to report with
the player losing connection or albums failing to queue correctly -
thanks for the fix Jezbo.

However I have found a small issue when browsing into wikipedia through
Muso - the 'back' button doesn't always take you to where I would expect
(ie back to the music browser), but will go to a previously viewed
wikipedia (or other web) page. Repeat pressing of 'back' eventually
gets back to the browser, but not always the last viewed selection.

And I also have a couple of minor requests.
When using a custom background image that is smaller than the displayed
area could it be made to stretch to fit?
And also, could the the right mouse button menu include the 'play next'
function, and could the rmb menu be available for Groups and Disks?

Many thanks again.
Richard

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MUSO - Support Thread

2013-01-26 Thread slackhead

Jezbo,

Thanks for the info on editing the CSS - this has been a huge help!

Unfortunately I've been having a good number of problems similar to what
MDE reported back in post #901, where Muso seems to lose connection with
the player (SBT) / LMS. I frequently find myself having to reselect the
player for the Now Playing screen to update and to be able to queue up
tracks. (I also, on occasion, find after re connecting that the track
list for the current album will have two tracks highlighted as playing)

I've not managed to find any pattern as to why this is happening -
sometimes it will lose the SBT while I am browsing for more tracks to to
line up. This has been happening for some time now but seems to be
getting more regular recently.

Another problem, which may well be related - sometimes when I select
Play Album Now the Queued Music list will show that the whole album
has been queued up but playback will stop after the first track.
Checking the LMS web interface shows that the remaining tracks have not
been queued as expected and I have to go back to Muso and re-select the
album. Again this happens erratically with no obvious cause or pattern.

LMS is on a separate networked machine running Fedora Linux - when I
test the CLI it always comes back as OK.

Thanks.
Richard

Yes I do have a high zoom factor.

I'm using a high res 21 screen (1680 x 1050) but viewed from a larger
distance than normal so need to increase the zoom to make it readable

I'll have a play with the CSS - it's a long time since I did any CSS

The issue with the wrapping is very minor so don't worry too much about

bpa - at the moment i'm running an old nightly from a few weeks back
which is working fine. If I update to a recent nightly the AlienBBC
plugin does not show on my SB at all, however it is listed in available
plugins in the web interface. I cant remember if its activate playing of
ABBC streams via the web interface or not - I will try again over the
weekend at post back.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] not working alienbbc on slimserver7 mac osx 10.5

2007-11-12 Thread slackhead

The current nightly build of SC 7.0 seems to have broken AlienBBC. Mine
was working fine up until I tried a nightly about ten days ago and then
AlienBBC stopped working. Reverting back to an older nightly from about
20th Oct fixed the problem immediately. If you can find an older build
give that a try or hope it gets fixed soon - it may be duw to the fact
that the plugin mechanism is being changed in 7.0.

Hope that helps.
