just out of curiosity, what would happen to my LMS-based environment in case mysqueezebox.com actually shuts down one day? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Client Cleanup v1.0
I apologize for the negativity. I've just wanted to know that the server runs and will always run without any connection with mysb.com. That was my motivation, too. I'm positive it will. I actually almost regret having introuduced the --nomysqueezebox parameter Why is that? I don't understand. As I said: the number of devices connecting to mysb ("calling home") is an indication as for how many users still use the SB. And the higher that number, the less likely management will decide to consider things dead, and shut down whatever infrastructure they're still paying for. Eg. this very forum! I'm genuinely confused by the information in this thread. Sounds like everyone else is, too. It has become increasingly confusing because little of it has to do with the plugin itself. Most is about LMS issues exposed by the plugin, but not cause by it :-). I keep mentioning the update I did on the 5th because that's when I published this plugin. "Latest" always only is relative, I know. The build from that day is latest enough. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

That's the problem - I could not tell which were in use and which were not. There were 5 MAC address I did not recognize; these could not be associated 1 to 1 with the players I use. And their dates were old, so I deleted them. Then they reappeared and this is when I started to become completely confused. Did you update LMS? Did you delete them in LMS, too? There can be a bit of a race-condition, syncing stuff in circles... but after an iteration or two you should be fine :-). The MAC addresses for mac iDevices connected to my Airport Extremes appear to have spoofed address by the Airport (its in Bridge Mode), and iOS devices (and Android probably, too) can be a bit difficult as I'm not sure apps are still allowed to report their real MAC addresses. I'd say don't worry too much. Just delete what you're really sure about. It's not about getting rid of everything now. You can do this incrementally, right? The plugin itself is really very simple: it reads all the clients from the prefs file, lists them, and deletes them if you want. I'm confused by the dates, though. The first two (unnamed) players shown in the screen cap are an SB2 and a Touch, respectively, but neither have been used in years. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Client Cleanup v1.0
Devices from mysb.com repopulate the client devices list that you're trying to clean-up, but since there appear to be different MAC addresses, you cannot correlate devices easily. Did you update to the latest 7.9.2? I thought I had outlined that issue in the announcement... I deleted some devices on mysb.com and now I can no longer get iPeng to use the local player for this device. I get the error "Your player was not found". The player indeed does not show up on mysb.com. I have no idea why iPeng / mysb.com won't re-create the device (I removed it - now I can't add it back). Do NOT delete players from mysb.com if you're still using them! Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Client Cleanup v1.0
Suggestion: a Refresh button to allow quick updates of the list, so that we can more readily identify players w/out having to leave the page, return, and resort. Just hit Apply at the bottom. Question: LMS is reporting a different MAC address than my IPads show, or any of my ARP cache's show. Where does one find that MAC coming from iOS that LMS (and iPeng) see? I have no idea. Look at the Last Changed timestamp. If it's old, get rid of the record :-). -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Great idea! I decided to clean out old unused players a couple of weeks ago (I had ~30 unused IIRC) after some strange issue with the settings/player menu, but I had to do it old style: stop LMS, take a deep breath and start hacking away in (a copy of) server.prefs fils. It worked but I was very confused when most of the removed players came back in the prefs file after a wile. Well, cleaning out in mysqueezebox.com was easier than editing a cryptic prefs file. Silly to forget though. (The issue with the settings/player menu was that the drop-down list for players and sub-menus were missing, only the basic menu for the current player was shown. Not even the clean-up of the server.prefs or erasing of the cache/templates catalogue helped. When I accidentally started to change the name of the (current) player in the name field, did the drop-down menus reappear. It has worked since, but I have no idea what the cause was.) Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Client Cleanup v1.0
This has turned out to be a challenge. MAC addresses show up differently than what show on my iDevices, so it is difficult to know which are valid, and which are not. You can have several devices with the same name appearing in mysb.com or the Client Cleanup plug-in. This happens when you get rid of an old iDevice, but name your new one the same. Devices from mysb.com repopulate the client devices list that you're trying to clean-up, but since there appear to be different MAC addresses, you cannot correlate devices easily. Trying to clean-up this situation is trial and error, and now having issues. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Client Cleanup v1.0
Suggestion: a Refresh button to allow quick updates of the list, so that we can more readily identify players w/out having to leave the page, return, and resort. Question: LMS is reporting a different MAC address than my IPads show, or any of my ARP cache's show. Where does one find that MAC coming from iOS that LMS (and iPeng) see? Same thing here - I'm guessing it won't work until the next build is available. Could you please try again? I had uploaded the wrong file... Also, how do you clean out the mysb account too? Plugin doesn't seem to want to install (RPi/pCP). Tried twice, it goes through the motions, but always ends up unchecked in 3rd party plugins. :( *Study/Server - LMS 7.9.2 -* Pi3B+/pCP 4.1.0/pi screen/HiFiBerry DAC+/jivelite, 25K library and playlists on WDMyCloud, LMS cache on a USB stick (formatted ntfs). *Lounge* - Pi2/pCP 4.1.0 > HiFiBerry DIGI+ > AudioEngine DAC1 > AVI DM5 *Dining Room* - Squeezebox Boom *Garage* - Pi3B/Pi screen/HiFiBerry DAC+/pCP 4.1.0 > Edifier R980T *In car* - RPi3B/pCP in AP mode > HiFiBerry DAC+ > car's audio (files on a 2TB USB drive) *Spares* - 2xTouch, 1xSB3, 1xRadio, 4xRPi kidstypike's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10436 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110142 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Client Cleanup v1.0
Here's another small plugin: Client Cleanup. It allows you to get rid of all those orphaned client configurations which accumulated over the past year(s) of toying with Squeezeplay, Squeezelite, piCorePlayer and others. I saw a need after I figured out my server.prefs had configurations for 60-70 players... many of which have not around for many years... For best results make sure you clean out your mysqueezebox.com account, too, and install the latest LMS 7.9.2, as older builds would re-create entries for any player you have on mysb.com, even if it had never been seen by your current server. Happy cleanup!
