Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Lazy Search for SqueezeCenter 7.0 released
Hello, sorry you're having trouble. v3.5.3 is definitely compatible with SBS 7.4.0. If it appears on the plugins list as installed but doesn't appear on the player that suggests that it's having trouble starting up, since problems at that time can prevent it adding its menu items. Can you restart your server/SBS and take a look at the SBS log to see if there are any messages in there that might give me a clue? I believe that is Lazy Search and I need to update it to use the newer preferred interface. It's harmless (albeit annoying in the log) - I'll sort that out and push an update to the repository. Stuart, I have both Lazy Search and Server Power Control installed and suspect that Server Power Control shuts down my server before the lazification process has finished if I kick off a clear and rescan everything before going to bed at night. The Server Power Control plugin monitors the server activity and shuts it down after a configurable period of idleness. Now, I could lengthen the idle period, but I suggest that the better way will be for the lazification process to tell Server Power Control that its still lazifying the database. I'll post in the Server Power Control thread and hopefully you and Gordon can sort this out. -- Wirrunna A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. Hi again, Just wanted to let you know that the downloader now recommends a downgrade from version 3.4 to 3.3. LazySearch2 3.4 to 3.3 Lazy Search Music is a plugin that lets you search for music without having to multi-tap each letter in the search text you're after, and displays search results as you type. Thanks for letting me know - I'll take a look at that, but I don't immediately know why that would be. I've seen talk of some of this behaviour from others so perhaps it's the same reason. I'll look into it. There's no need to accept that downgrade - 3.4 is still the latest. One quick thought - if you've got my repository added then this might happen because the one that's in Logitech's repository listing is still 3.3. Perhaps that causes the bouncing between versions. However, when I attempt a search, I get a message Lazy Search Library Search in progress I allowed this to run for two days, but still received the message when trying to Lazy Search. I've also tried manually re-starting the scan in the Web based plugin configuration, but still get the same message. Any suggestions? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Lazy Search for SqueezeCenter 7.0 released
This indicates that either the SqueezeCenter scan never terminates (it might be crashing, which I know happens sometimes with problematic music files), or else the Lazy Search database scan never terminates (although I've never seen this). Can you enable a couple of debugging options in Settings-Advanced-Logging: * plugin.lazysearch2 (set to debug) * scan.scanner (set to debug If you do that, set the option at the top to save the log settings, restart squeezecenter and retry the scan you should get some information logged into the squeezecenter and scanner logs (accessible from links on this logging page). If you do that and they don't give you any clues you can make sense of, try zipping them up and emailing them to me at stuart -at- hickinbottom *d=o=t* com if there's nothing in those logs you want to keep private and I'll take a look. My guess would be the SqueezeCenter scanner never terminating - do you see that if you look at settings-information? You should see SqueezeCenter has finished scanning your music collection in the Music Scan Details section of that information page. You'll want to reset those logging settings later to prevent your log files becoming enormous. Lazy Search seemed to install properly, I can access it from the Web interface and with the remote. However, when I attempt a search, I get a message Lazy Search Library Search in progress I allowed this to run for two days, but still received the message when trying to Lazy Search. I've also tried manually re-starting the scan in the Web based plugin configuration, but still get the same message. Any suggestions? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Lazy Search for SqueezeCenter 7.0 released
it is interesting that you did not get such a hot response because the idea in my post (and your wheel idea) is to reduce the amount of spinning and choices from 36 down to 6 and not have to leave the screen as it were. Given the wheel is not that accurate some of the time it makes searching is not easy so i am suprised at the lukewarm response. If you do make it, then you would have one happy installer for sure! -- SoftPhill SoftPhill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13979 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45531 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Hi, dont know if you have added more thought to this but, as it is my favourite plugin, i have been trying to think of a way to integrate it and thought of this: Lazy search was great because we had number keys. Rather than reinvent the wheel could you not just move this method to the screen and have a search like below. Where you use the wheel to select a row of letters one after the other and narrow down your selection just like it currently works on SB3 --- Artist search --- ABCDE FGHIJ KLMNO PQRST UVWXYZ --- 15 Artists found --- Thoughts? -- SoftPhill SoftPhill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13979 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45531 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Lazy Search for SqueezeCenter 7.0 released
Yes, I'd thought something similar and mocked up a screenshot in this post: http://www.hickinbottom.com/jive-lazy-search-idea-1 Before you look, though, embedded images are broken on my site at the moment so you'll have to use your imagination. It was basically a wheel on-screen with groups of letters grouped around the circumference (a bit like an old rotary telephone, if you're old enough). The wheel would spin in keeping with the Jive wheel to hopefully allow fast entry. Basically, though, it's the same as your idea with some fancier graphics. Starting from yours is probably an easier development effort, though. I didn't get a very enthusiastic response to the idea initially and, unfortunately, I've not made much more progress than that initial screenshot and description. I'm hoping to get around to it eventually but it's one of those things that's on an ever-growing list at the moment. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Lazy Search for SqueezeCenter 7.0 released
I've put together a formal non-beta release 3.0 of the plugin that fully supports SqueezeCenter 7.0 now. If you've been using recent betas of the plugin then the differences are minor (just a couple of small enhancements). The full list of changes since the previous formal release (for SlimServer 6.5) are as follows: * The plugin has now been ported to SqueezeCentre 7.0. * Enhancement added to allow the SEARCH button to always enter the Lazy Search menu - ie to disable the option to toggle to the original search mode. * Enhancement added to allow repeated presses of SEARCH to step through search types (in line with a similar enhancement for the standard search in SqueezeCenter 7.0. Note that this is only active for the new setting where pressing SEARCH will always enter the Lazy Search menu. * Lazy Search menu item ordering is now consistent with that for the standard search mode. I've been thinking about it, but have been very busy on other things recently so haven't had a huge amount of time to dedicate to it to date I'm afraid. I'll continue to mull it over, though.
