Normally didn't originally (back 2012 - 2013 or so) - but sometime later, about when the online scaning started failing for places like Amazon and similar (for album info & images), the lyrics also started going to custard... Think when APIs all got updated/changed and the shift to https for all web browser traffic basically broke it and it's never been properly fixed. Means MediaMonkey lyrics fall back to chartlyrics.com (which is erratic in accuracy) and azlyrics, metrolyrics, etc. azlyrics is the one that implants urls through out the lyric text (like after every verse) and the others are the ones you end up with just the url to the webpage and no lyrics IIRC (azlyrics may even do this now - as they may have 'upgraded' their site)... *Hi-Fi 1*: QNAP HS-453DX NAS+QLMS/Allo USBridge Signature+Shanti LPS/Cirrus ESS Sabre 32-bit Reference DAC (Oppo 105D)/Yamaha Aventage CX-A5000/Focal SM9s. *Hi-Fi 2*: Sqbox Touch+Shanti LPS/Focal XS Books. *Hi-Fi 3*: PC+Squeezelite-X+Material Skin/Focal XS Books. *Hi-Fi Misc*: iPeng (iPad/iPhones)/Plantronics BB Pro 2 LE Headphones. *Accessories*: Tchernov -Classic- & Van den Hul ICs; Thor PS10 Power Station; Blue Jeans & Ruleconnect Cables (Power, HDMI, USB & Coaxial); Aurios & Vibrapods. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Song Lyrics plugin will soon stop working due to musixmatch changes
I installed this foobar plugin, and it started chuntering through my library, although not so good on compilation albums, but better than nothing. I was concerned that I could not find the tags in my tag editor - after a bit of investigation I discovered that Synced Lyrics typically use a "LYRICS" tag, and unsynced Lyrics use a "UNSYNCEDLYRICS" tag. Not all tag editors recognise synced lyrics (MP3TAG does, TAG&RENAME doesn't seem to). I went for the option of 'prefer unsynced' tags, but left the tag labels as the default (contrary to advice earlier to change them both to "LYRICS"). Doing this enables me to see which files have synced lyrics, and which have unsynced, and which files have none. LMS seems to cope with both, even when a file has both types of tag. Ipeng seems to have a small delay before serving up the lyrics, but overall I am very happy with this. A big thank you for this - Nocko for the 'heads up' and TheLastMan (Mr. Standing ?) for the detailed instructions. Foobar is pottering through my music adding Lyrics, a batch each night. As TLM and Erland said earlier in this thread, there is more development going on in the last 6 months than has happened for years. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Song Lyrics plugin will soon stop working due to musixmatch changes
Late reply. Sorry. No, the LYRICS tag is not in my flac music files. There are no id3 tags. I use dbpoweramp to create my flac files. When I ran the foobar app it did imbed lyrics in the flac file but in a strange place, it looks like this when I go to edit idtag: Comment (this line is Blank) (after moving a line lyrics are here without a tag.) If I go to my music folder and open a album file hovering over a song shows the lyrics but they are without an id tag. There is just a : then the artist, album and lyrics. Seems that the problem is no lyrics tag present in my flac files for foobar to write to. When I try to add tag "LYRICS" without a value it will not save it. How do I add a lyrics tag without a value? I use mp3tag and it doesnt allow it. Is there a tagging program that will allow? Is foobar supposed to create the lyrics tag and write to it? If yes what setting could be wrong? Appreciate any suggestions. If you test it with a track where it is present, does LMS recognize it? btw, which application are you using to create the FLACs? Can you check that it only adds FLAC tags, and not ID3 tags (for FLACs, lyrics are in the LYRICS tag. For MP3s (which uses ID3 tags), they are in USLT or SYLT tags. I'd suggest that you take a track which contains lyrics, and look at the tags in the LMS web interface (Song Info/View Tags - no need to rescan the library before doing so). You should see a LYRICS tag there (and hopefully no USLT or SYLT - that would be ID3 tags) Roland0's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56808 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98161 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Cleared stored lyrics from one album. Checked to be sure lyrics were gone by hoovering over the song in my music. Played the album through foobar with lyrics show panel open and saw the lyrics. Checked again by hovering over the songs in my music and the correct lyrics were there but do not show in lms under M>Song Info. Must be some setting but I am at a loss. Any advise? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Song Lyrics plugin will soon stop working due to musixmatch changes
I've been fooling with this for a while and am still unable to get it to show the lyrics in squeezebox. I have song lyrics plugin installed but have removed the check mark next to it assuming that that would disable it. Song lyrics still shows in LMS when I use the more info but most often with the wrong lyrics and says "lyrics delivered by chartlyrics". When I use foobar for lyrics it does write the correct lyrics to tag. That is when I go to my music folder for the album and hover over the song correct lyrics are there but not when I use LMS. Any suggestions for correcting this? Please keep in mind that I am a computer novice. Things have to be detailed for me to have success with this type of thing. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Song Lyrics plugin will soon stop working due to musixmatch changes
Now that I have saved all lyrics in my Flacs / tags I have a quite special question: For my remote control project I need a direct link to Squeezeserver to show the lyrics of the currently played song. For example, there is such a link for the "Now Playing Cover" with http://192..:9000/music/current/cover.jpg? - is there a link in Squeezeserver that points directly to the "Now Playing Lyrics" ? Or as a workaround: Is there a plugin that enables such a link ? Thank you, Nocko! When you overwrite or delete a file it can archive the old version so you can go back to an earlier version when you screw up. The main advantage is bi-directional synch which means you can make changes on either drive and it will synch the two. It can do all sorts of types of backup too. As well a synching various folders between PC and NAS I also use it for synching my laptop between work network and home. I would not bother with the reduced price version of the program as there is plenty of other freeware out there that will do 90% of the job. I finished the process last week and a random survey reveals about 2 - 3% of tracks with truncated lyrics, which is a bit annoying. I have found which databases are the culprits so now just use the ones that work for new music. Am at work at the moment so cannot remember off-hand, but will post again later. Foobar remembers all your Lyrics Show and Preview settings, so even though you may have finished the original task, adding new lyrics data would be as simple as playing or previewing the tracks on the new album in Foobar. Assuming 10-15 tracks in most pop albums that makes adding new lyrics a 60 - 90 second process if you Preview each track for 6 seconds. I don't use the Foobar library function, but I would not be surprised if it had a "new music" list feature somewhere. All you would need to do then is create a playlist from the "new music" and run the preview function on it. Personally my workflow for a new CD is now as follows: Start dBPoweramp and use the simultaneous rip function to add the music files, tags and folder art to my FLAC and MP3 libraries on my PC. This takes about 5 minutes to tweak the tags and 2 minutes to perform the rip. Run foobar on each folder (MP3 and FLAC) to add the lyrics, that is 2 x 90 seconds at worst. Er... thats it. I have everything else set up to work automatically. I have software which, every 10 minutes, automatically synchronises the two music libraries on the PC on which I rip the music with mirrored folders on my NAS. LMS uses the FLAC folder on the NAS I use as an LMS server. That means that it takes a maximum of 15 minutes after I have ripped a CD for it to be available on LMS. I have about 8,000 tracks now, so not many fewer than you. I have set up LMS to do a complete rescan automatically at 3am every day while I am asleep, which takes it about 10 minutes. That way all newly ripped CDs are automatically added as "new music" each day without me having to set anything off manually. If I want to listen to the music straightaway after ripping it I just browse to it using the "Music Folder" option under "My Music" in LMS. That will automatically add the music to the database. I am following your route of using foobar to scan and tag my 12000 tracks on LMS. Nearly killed my WHS while it tries to keep up with mirroring onto both disks! My question is have you figured out a neat way to re-run the workflow say once a month to pick up new music. I don't really want to include it in my normal rip, transfer, musicip, rescan process as it is already pretty involved. iPeng is $6 (iPhone/iTouch) and $10 (iPad) and it currently runs on anything except for first generation iOS devices (original iPhone and iTouch). But I would not recommend it on 2nd generation devices either except as a standalone player (that doesn't require strict syncing). I personally find it too slow on these as a controller. Which leaves everything from Gen 3 on (iPhone 3GS, iTouch 3rd Gen, all iPads) pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98161 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

FYI...iPeng used to be $10, it has been $5 for a while. Depending how old the iPod Touch is, it may not support the latest version of iPeng, which has a main page that displays lyrics. In my opinion, it's one of my favorite features of iPeng in the last few months. prabbit's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11142 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98161 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

As I said I don't have an Apple device. My wife and I have Android phones with shared calendars, contacts etc. Well locked into Google's network! Of course $10 is nothing, and I have tried other SB apps but settled on what I consider the best Android one - paid for full version of course. It is great that you think there will be continued development. I hope you are right. I will continue to offer support and feedback where I can. It's also important to remember that if you want to continue encourage the third party developers to do additions for the Squeezebox, if you want them to stick around it's a good idea to continue to purchase their apps or plugins or provide donations to those that do development for free. erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98161 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

This is what works well for me: View, Layout, Quick setup and choose" Visualisation + Cover art + Tabs" then View, Layout, Enable layout editing mode then Right click the bottom right panel choose "replace UI Element" Lyrics Show Panel v3 is at the bottom of the list under the heading "Utils". If you want more room to view the lyrics you can right click on the boundary between the top and bottom right panels and un-tick "Lock bottom pane height". aubuti wrote: > That would be great. I know that I would be grateful (and probably glad > that it was one of those chores I did not get to last weekend.) I am presuming here that you have already installed Foobar 2000 and know the basics. Download foobar Seek plugin zip file from *'here' (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=88654)* and the Lyric Show Panel 3 zip file from *'here' (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_uie_lyrics3)* There is no need to unzip them, foobar does this as part of the install process. In foobar go to file, Preferences, Components and install both plugins. *Press apply and the program will restart. Once the plugins are installed go to File, Preferences, Tools, Lyric Show 3 LYRIC SEARCHING TAB On the first tab your main choice is to decide whether you want time stamped lyrics that will scroll and synchronise with the music karaoke style, or whether you just want a straight text tag. The options are: - Only synced - Only non-synced - Prefer synced - Prefer non-synced - No preference Neither the Controller, nor either of the apps I use (Logitech and Orange Squeeze) can use the time stamping so I chose "only non-synced". Synced files have time data and HTML characters alongside the lyrics so are virtually unreadable unless your player can use the data. If you use iPeng you might want to ask Pippin whether his app can use the time stamps. You then have to choose the order in which the plugin searches the various databases. I have no idea which is better so just shifted the Timestamped servers to the bottom. LYRIC SAVING TAB Tick (check) Enable automatic save Save method is Save to tag *(very important!)* It is crucial that the un-synced Lyric tag is set to LYRICS otherwise Orange Squeeze and the Controller wont read it. If you like your lyrics synced you will need to experiment with the synced lyric tag and your choice of control software. Again perhaps Pippin can advise. I have ignored the Advanced tab, nothing critical here as far as I can tell. That is it for the Lyric Show 3 plugin. The Preview option in the seek plugin is set up from the normal Playback menu. IMPLEMENTATION Add all the files and folders you want to tag to the playlist. Go to Playback, Seek Control, Preview length and select what you want. I found that the minimum, 6 seconds, was more than enough. Then choose Playback, Seek Control and tick Preview. Press Play and then go away! You might want to watch it for a few tracks, it is rather cool, otherwise you can leave it to do its stuff for as long as it takes. I have done about half my collection now and will do the other half over the next few days. Have fun! Looking at some of the songs where I have saved to the lyrics tag using Foobar they are accessible as follows: - on the Controller, select a track and then press the "+" button. This brings up the context menu for adding to the playlist and so on below which is some tag data. At the 13th line of this menu is "Lyrics". Press select and it displays the content of the Lyrics field. - for the same track on Logitech Android app, the "Lyrics" menu item, when selected, shows the title of the song but no lyrics. - on Orange Squeeze the context menu is the same but the lyrics are displayed correctly. Presumably the Lyrics field is displayed courtesy of your Song Info plugin, for which many thanks. It does not look like I need your Song Lyrics plugin then as I can see the Lyrics field just fine with Song Info. Personally I would prefer a quicker way to get to the lyrics from the "now playing" screen, but it is no biggie - probably one for the Orange Squeeze list of requested features! If you have LYRICS tags you won't need my plugin, LMS supports to display LYRICS tags in Song Info by default and I think this is also shown in some of the iPhone/Android apps. My plugin currently only takes lyrics from online source, but if there is a need for it I could adjust it so it prefers lyrics information from the music tags and only check online sources if no lyrics tag is found. However, before I do that, please test if it works as you like first without the plugin. erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98161 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Brilliant and thanks Nocko! I am gradually working through my collection of music filling the Lyrics fields. Did A-D Saturday and plan to do E-L overnight tonight. The remaining issue is how to easily gain access to the Lyrics field to view the data using either the Controller or one of the Android SB apps. I currently have the Logitech one and Orange Squeeze. A couple of clicks from the "now playing" screen would be good. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Song Lyrics plugin will soon stop working due to musixmatch changes
...ok, I have swallowed the bad news. Currently I am tagging all my flags with lyrics. I am using foobar with the the Lyrics Show Panel v3. This works really, really well with the additional preview plugin. You put ALL your music in a giant Foobar playlist, set the Preview plugin to something about 10 seconds (or less) and let it play. The result is that every song in your playlist is played for 10 seconds, the Lyrics Show Panel searches the correct lyrics and writes them in the song tag. If there are already lyrics in the tag, they are not touched. You have to fiddle a little bit with the Lyrics Show Panel preferences but the result is fantastic. I use it with iPeng so there is no need for synced lyrics. I search for unsynced lyrics and save them into the "Lyrics" - Tag because as far as I can see, iPeng doesn't look in the "Unsynced Lyrics" - Tag. In the end the result is better than the lyrics search done by musixmatch or chartlyrics. And it is damn fast ! By the way: You can easily correct the lyrics if they are wrong or formatted in an ugly way. I am listening to all sorts of Heavy Metal (70%), AOR (20%) and misc genres. I think more than 90% of the found lyrics are correct. You should really try this... ...but as ever: First do a test drive on a few of your tracks ! Have fun, Nocko! Some time back I used a Windows program named Music Bee (http://getmusicbee.com/) that would look up lyrics and then write them to tags of FLAC or MP3 files (it may have worked with other codecs, but I never tried). It worked great for me at first, then after a while it started writing only the URL to a lyrics service. I don't know if they ever straightened it out, but I may give it another look now. aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98161 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Get Lyrical works with iTunes. Get Lyrical has found lyrics for ~16,000 of my ~22,000 songs. When it completes, it produces a playlist of songs for which it could not find lyrics. I rescan that list from time to time hoping that some of them will be found. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Song Lyrics plugin will soon stop working due to musixmatch changes
musixmatch don't want to handle purchases from individual users, they want to focus on selling their services to other businesses and to make it worth for them to handle a new business customer they want to be guaranteed a minimal yearly fee. It could also be that the music producers which musixmatch have licensed the lyrics from requires a minimum fee per year in their license agreement. I'm 100% sure I can't earn anywhere close to $20k/year on a lyrics plugin for Squeezebox, based on the sales from my other plugins I seriously doubt it would even be possible for me to reach $500/year. I don't want to switch the plugin to a commercial mode if I can't guarantee that it works and I can't guarantee that without a partner agreement with a lyrics provider who officially license lyrics from music producers. lyrdb which was mentioned, is another "illegal" alternative that could be an option, but their site seemed to be really slow so I'm not sure how good it will work. However, I'll try to get some time to take a look at it in the not too distant future. Of course, if they start to work good, the music industry is likely going to shutdown their service too, it has happen to pretty much all services which doesn't officially license the lyrics from the music producers. LyricWiki had to disable their API due to complaints from music producers: http://code.google.com/p/quodlibet/issues/detail?id=273 LyricFind is another legal alternative, they have similar requirement of a minimal yearly fee for commercial agreement, it's a little bit cheaper than musixmatch but it's still far above what I could earn on a commercial lyrics plugin. If anyone like to voluntary support my related lyrics work, you can always do it indirectly by purchasing one of my other plugins or applets. erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98161 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Erland, would it be possible for users of your plugin to have to pay a nominal subscription to the lyrics provider rather than you having to put up the 20k. Pretty sure this could be worked using the license mechanism, and your plugin would only work if they had a paid up subscription. The only question then is how much. I don't use it a lot, but I'd pay them 10 usd per year. yeomanspc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=249 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98161 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I don't understand anything about programming and APIs and so on but I am very thankful to Erland for his Plugin. I used it for two years (with iPeng) and it made my music experience perfect. We should fight for it ! If you, Erland, need financial support for your work (not to buy the rights for using lyrics), you should feel free to make SongLyrics commercial. I had already donated a small amount (or two ?) and would do it again. For maintenance I would also pay a regular fee. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Song Lyrics plugin will soon stop working due to musixmatch changes
What a shame, and I only recently discovered the plugin as well and was enjoying using it. I can confirm that it no longer works on my system. That $20k annual fee looks monstrous, who are they expecting will pay for it? Software and hardware companies? Streaming services? I think this is the way a lot of the internet is going to go. Things that are free or cheap today will become paid for and expensive in the future as ultimately all this work needs to be paid for, and the only revenue streams are either paying directly or advertising. Volunteers such as you who are prepared to put so much of their time and effort in for free can only do so much. In the end people need to earn a living! My main worry is the sustainability of the Spotify / Napster / Rhapsody model. I cannot see how "all-you-can-eat" music for £10 / $10 a month will work in the long term. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Song Lyrics plugin will soon stop working due to musixmatch changes
Just for information to anyone using my Song Lyrics plugin, the Song Lyrics plugin is likely going to stop working good very soon. The reason is that musixmatch have informed me that they can no longer support free API access, their minimum fee for a commercial agreement is currently $20 000/year which is unrealistic for me to take out of my own pockets and it's also totally unrealistic to get anywhere close to this amount if I would try to start charging people for the Song Lyrics plugin and give everything to musixmatch. I suspect we shouldn't blame musixmatch for this, it's probably the music industry that requires them to charge people who want to view lyrics, I think it's great that musixmatch could offer lyrics for free for non commercial usage as long as they did. So if you want to continue enjoying lyrics on your Squeezebox you now have to put the lyrics in the LYRICS tag of your music files, the advantage of that is that it's going to continue to work in the future since you aren't dependent on an online service or plugin. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience this is causing all lyrics lovers, but unfortunately there isn't anything I can do about it. If anyone knows another lyrics source that offers an API let me know and I'll look into the possibilities to integrate that instead of musixmatch. If it doesn't provide an API it's not an option because it will require too much work and too high risk to maintain something that parses websites to get lyrics data. Song Lyrics already supports lyrics from chartlyrics.com but previously their data hasn't been as good as musixmatch.com and they also have some legal issues which probably results in that it's just a matter of time until that stops working too. erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98161 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
