That's a "regular" stream. You listen to what is being streamed by the
server right now.

radioparadise://4-1.flac

That's the "interactive" stream. It's track based, unlike the "regular"
which is one stream for all day or week or whatever.

These are two distinct options in the plugin's menu. And they haven't
changed with the recent release.

quoting myself. I just noticed something. The "muted start" I described
above with v2.5 of the plugin was using the RP app in my apps. On
inspection it used this URL (for mellow for example):

http://icy-8.radioparadise.com/mellow-flac

and the first song do NOT start in beginning (when the stream is first
started)

When I had been playing the mellow mix previously, with the previous
version of the plugin I was NOT going through My Apps, I had saved it to
favorites, here's the URL:

radioparadise://4-1.flac

The first song DOES start from the beginning.

Yet, when I go to the RP site, here is their flac link:

http://stream.radioparadise.com/mellow-flac

First song starts from the beginning.

When I had said that main and mellow had been rock solid for weeks, it
was with the previous version of the plugin, but more importantly, it
was with the url in my favorites - radioparadise://4-1.flac. I am also
unclear why all of the url's, what is legacy, what I shouldn't be using,
etc.

I am not sure this is relevant, but I thought I would mention it. I'll
stream both urls over the next couple days to compare performance

My experience - RP Main and Mellow mix were pretty solid with the
previous version of the plug in (was it 2.4.2 or something?). I updated
to 2.5 and tried Rock and Main Mix today. Flac versions of both would
play, then stop (rebuffer, rebuffer failed) and sometimes go back a
few songs and replay from there. For example, the pixies, a few more
songs, then REM, rebuffer failed. Start it back up, back to the pixies.
Interesting that when it got back to the REM song that failed, it
rebuffered, but continued.

I also noticed something I have never seen before. When starting the
flac stream it would start, you could see the timer run, but no
audio...then after a few seconds, audio would start, but not at the song
start. The flac streams had always started at the beginning of the song
previously. It's like the audio is muted for the first couple seconds at
stream start. I also noticed this on the web control.

I switched to the 320kbps stream and it played uninterrupted for hours.
Back to the flac, problems.

Just my observations in case it helps. I'm running a touch on a rpi
server via wifi for this test.

I have been listening primarily to the eclectic stream after it
returned, (thank you Michael,) and I have noticed that sometimes it
stops, and I have to restart it manually and when I do, I find that it
has gone back quite a few songs, and essentially "started over." Usually
when this happens however, it makes it through the spot where it had
gotten stuck before. I have been assuming it is a problem with Radio
Paradise, and not with LMS. Maybe this is a problem with Bill's "load
balancing" between his RP servers? My gosh, please don't believe I have
any idea what I am talking about ... I have no idea.

I don't know what Bill and his wife were doing before they started RP,
but they must be IT wizards by now.

Last night I put the PC to sleep while the RP FLAC Regular Stream was
playing in SLX. When I woke the PC up in the morning, meta data
continued to stream without the music: album art, track, artist, and
album name. Again, not a problem for me, as long as I don't develop FOMO
issues. :-)

Hi there - how does this work?

Yesterday I installed the plugin in LMS. I cannot find any app on the

TIDAL.

When I play (Mellow Mix Regular Stream FLAC) no sound is occuring. I go
to the player and it's loading a stream ("Getting Stream Info..."). I
push play on the player and it complains a file is missing. I push play
in LMS and it flicks for a second, it shows a cover and the Panini Pua

Please let me know what I'm doing wrong.

Of course now I'm unable to reproduce this in SLX. It happened regularly
in a previous release. Greg doesn't use the RP app and wasn't trying to
address anything related in the updates he's released since, but now
it's gone. Maybe it was something unique to my installation.

Also unable to reproduce this in a web browser controlling SLX on

Interesting. Rock had been there before, but Eclectic is new (there used
to be Groovy at some point). And the live streams are even further away
from the interactive FLAC version. Even on radioparadise.com...

gone. Must be something to do with the version used for the ReadyNAS!

I can't use the interactive stream anymore either. It was nice to be
able to skip a song that I didn't like, but now it just stops and starts
every couple of seconds. The regular stream is OK thankfully.
I -was- using the final 7.9.1 version but recently updated my plugins
for the first time in ages. Then I put 7.9.2 on to see if that helped
but it didn't.
I'm using an O2 Joggler with squeezeplayOS from the Joggler forum.

Is there something else I need to upgrade? Python or something?

On the RadioParadise forum Bill has stated that he puts the FLAC stream
into an Ogg container so that he can include meta data for those who
need it delivered that way. As I understand it, the same data is also
available via the API that the LMS plugin accesses, but anyway this is
why it's "Ogg FLAC".

Wow - didnt know that existed. I just had the 4 mixes set at favourites
and havent been to the 'app' for some time. Seems there is only Main and
Mellow now.

Oh, the regular streams seem to work fine and is all I need. Only tested
for 20 secs as I was getting ready to jump on a plane.

Let me know if I can help (later in the week) troubleshoot the
interactive.

Thanks so much.

I have tried most of the FLAC streams. I tried the old stream once which

Hi,

I too am experiencing the 'stuttering' to the point of it being
unusable. Only started the last 3 or so weeks, prior to that it worked
mostly flawlessly. Initially I ignored it but its now irritating me..

Audio plays for ~2 secs then stops for another 2, starts for 2 etc. Dont
think that I have let it run for more than 10-15 secs.

I didn't notice any other issues with the modified XMLbrowser.pm. I
can't continue using it after updating LMS since my laptop has been put
out of action by the Windows 10 1903 update (no longer boots) so I can't
easily copy the file over.

And yet LMS runs perfectly. I use the Sparky only as a server, and it
produces excellent sound - much better than the Squeezebox Classic that
it replaced. I cannot really justify the time and effort that would be
required to upgrade Ubuntu and then figure out how to reinstall M2P (I
have found a script online, but if it didn't work I'd be lost) simply to
get Paradise Radio running, when the streams seem to have many problems
that all my work wouldn't eliminate.

Why not give it a try, but make sure you first have a working backup, or
use a spare sd card.

I have a couple of suggestions (please remember that I know nothing much
:p)

To find your installed ssl, run

Code:

openssl version

This is my rpi3b

Code:

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ openssl version
  OpenSSL 1.1.0j 20 Nov 2018
  pi@raspberrypi:~ $

and this is from LMS on the same pi

Have you ever run

Code:

sudo apt-get -y install libio-socket-ssl-perl

on the Sparky? this is needed for LMS

Again you can check with

Code:

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo apt-get -y install libio-socket-ssl-perl
  Reading package lists... Done
  Building dependency tree
  Reading state information... Done
libio-socket-ssl-perl is already the newest version (2.044-1).
  libio-socket-ssl-perl set to manually installed.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
  pi@raspberrypi:~ $

According to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases this was "end of lifed"
more than two years ago. Your system is so badly outdated you really
need to update.

Yes, I've seen that. It's odd, because M2P still have a prominent Allo
logo on their home page. And they have continued to update their version
of M2P for the Allo.

I just saw Michael's message about the old library. Evidently I do need
to update to Debian Stretch. I've sent an inquiry to M2P asking whether
their Allo version will run on the updated Debian. Maybe they won't
reply... :) And I'm searching Allo forums to see what's up; I'll write
to Allo too.

The thread you point to was one I started in 2016 when I was using a
Raspberry Pi. I am now using an Allo Sparky.

As noted above, I have installed the latest version of Max2Play that is
available for this machine: 2.48. And LMS 7.9.2.

I'm certainly willing to try to update Debian if that is necessary to
get FLAC streaming again in Radio Paradise. But is it necessary?

I've updated Max2Play to the latest version (2.48). OpenSSL has not
changed: stays at 1.53.

AAC plays, though with this error:

[19-06-16 19:14:40.5042] Slim::Networking::Async::connect (114) Failed
to connect to img.radioparadise.com:443, because
Slim::Networking::Async::Socket::HTTPS: SSL connect attempt failed with
unknown errorerror:14077410:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3

Get in touch with m2p. This really is an outdated library problem. We
can't fix it.

FLAC plays only sporadically (that is, plays for 15 seconds or so, then
silence though the track time is incrementing, then sometimes recovers,
or stops), but throws only the same error.

The OS is Debian - EN - utf8

Hmm... if it was only for this message, I'd say update LMS. Make sure
you run the latest 7.9.2. There have been a number of tweaks to the

Updated to 7.9.2 - 1560587554 @ Sat Jun 15 10:44:33
Updated to Material Skin 8.1

Things seem to be snappier on my Early 2009 Mac Mini server. Next song
button is crisp, used to lag/hang. Not sure if it was RP or Material
skin but working really fast now.

This past week:
-I only had a few songs hang (and after 5-10 seconds, start where they
stopped).
-Did occasionally have 1 song play into another, overlapped, that
happened 3-4 times. Clicking Next Song button cleared it up.
-Background cover images occasionally took a while to update, would
display previous album or question mark for a number of seconds. Today's
updates seem to have fixed everything.

Thanks for doing all the stuffs Michael and crew. I listen to RP 6 hours
a day during week so am really happy to have this stuff be so well
maintained.

My bad! Turns out the reboot that installed the updated RP also led to
the system clock being off. Now both players seem to have access to all
the right streams.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Radio Paradise Lossless Streaming (Plugin v2)

2019-06-15 Thread Michael Herger

By itself, the Squeezebox Classic will not play either of the available
FLAC options: FLAC Interactive, FLAC Regular Stream, but it will play
MP3 192kbps. With FLAC, the appropriate messages display ("Radio
Paradise," "FLAC Interactive" ...) and the ‘time play’ counts up, but no
music actually plays.

If the Classic can't play it, then obviously the sync group wouldn't
play either. What does your server.log say when you try to play flac on it?

Synchronized, the options are FLAC Interactive, FLAC Regular Stream, and
MPS3 192kpbs. (I don’t know why AAC is unavailable.)

The Classic can't play AAC natively, therefore it only allows MP3 and FLAC.

And you're saying all of this changed with the latest update? TBH I
don't believe any of it should have changed.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Radio Paradise Lossless Streaming (Plugin v2)

2019-06-15 Thread nitram

Hi, I just started using RP 2.4.2, with LMS 7.9.1 on an Allo Sparky with
Max2Play. I synchronize Squeezelite with a Squeezebox Classic. Until the
update performance was pretty good, with some occasional dropout. But
the update brought immediate problems:

Without synchronization, Squeezelite will play Main Mix AAC 320kbps and
128kbps but neither FLAC Interactive nor FLAC Regular Stream. With the
FLAC streams the ‘time playing’ indicator counts up and song info
displays in a browser, but there’s no sound, and it quits at the end of
a song. With the AAC streams everything seems normal.

Synchronized, the options are FLAC Interactive, FLAC Regular Stream, and
MPS3 192kpbs. (I don’t know why AAC is unavailable.) FLAC behavior is as
above, while with MP3 the ’time playing’ counts for about 25 seconds and
then gives up. No sound with any of these options.

I'm hoping there may be an update soon. :)

I am starting to wonder if the Youtube issue was actually caused by the
modified XMLbrowser.pm. After seeing some posts on the Youtube thread
describing similar symptoms I tried playing some Youtube tracks and sure
enough there was no sound using the original XMLbrowser.pm file. So
maybe your hack is working!

playing the interactive FLAC stream does not add all of the streams to

First of all make a copy of the file. Just in case.

You'll need a halfway decent editor - notepad won't do. Make sure your
texteditor can save UNIX style line-endings (eg. notepad++ does, afaik).

Just noticed the new Radio Paradise menus do not work from the Touch
menu system. I have "disable touch to play" set to always ask. If I Try
to play the Main interactive FLAC stream then 4 items are added to the

I have kind of a fix/workaround for this. But I'm not using the "defet
TTP" feature, I'm not really in a good position to test. I've run some
